"After being targeted by drones.. Italy sends a second warship to escort the 'Fleet of Resilience' heading to Gaza."

The Italian Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, announced that his country is sending a second ship from the Italian Navy to escort and protect the 'Global Resilience Fleet' heading to the Gaza Strip.

This decision comes as an escalation in the protective measures that Rome is providing for the fleet, following an attack on it by drones last Tuesday.

Minister Crosetto had directed, yesterday Wednesday, the departure of the first warship to assist the fleet, reiterating at the same time his country's strong condemnation of the attack.

In the same context, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that his country will send, on Thursday, a warship from the port of Cartagena in the southeast of the country to protect the Global Resilience Fleet in breaking the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Sánchez stated, in a statement to reporters after participating in a session of the United Nations General Assembly yesterday Wednesday: 'A naval operations ship equipped with all necessary resources will depart (Thursday) from Cartagena to assist the (Global Resilience) fleet and carry out a rescue operation if needed.'
