Japan calls for an "immediate halt" to Israel's unilateral actions against Palestine.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi called for an immediate halt to all unilateral Israeli actions against Palestine. This was stated in a speech he delivered on Monday during his participation in the international conference on the two-state solution organized under the auspices of the United Nations, led by France and Saudi Arabia.

Hayashi clarified that the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and steps towards annexation are 'completely unacceptable.' Last July, the Israeli Knesset (parliament) majority supported a declaration endorsing the annexation of the West Bank, amid calls from Likud ministers and Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana to implement the annexation 'immediately.'

Hayashi added: 'Japan strongly condemns these actions and calls on Israel to immediately halt all unilateral practices.' He emphasized that Japan has always supported and continues to support the principle of a two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
