The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated after its lawyer's visit to "Ofer" prison that the child detainees are living in extremely harsh detention conditions, lacking the most basic elements of human life, in a scene that reflects a systematic policy targeting Palestinian childhood and attempting to destroy its future.
The commission clarified in a statement issued today, Thursday, that the occupation is holding hundreds of children inside prisons, where they are thrown into overcrowded rooms and deteriorating environmental and health conditions, deprived of their right to education and medical treatment, and subjected to repeated physical and psychological assaults, in addition to the provocative policies of isolation and searches that are practiced against them daily.
It confirmed that the prison administration deliberately neglects their health conditions and deprives them of medical care, while providing them with poor meals, forcing them to live in an environment that threatens their physical and psychological growth. Many of them are also subjected to harsh interrogations and continuous coercion aimed at breaking their will.
These children are not just numbers in reports, but innocent souls being kidnapped daily behind bars.
