The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated on Sunday that around 20,000 soldiers in the army have been injured since the beginning of the genocide war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.
The Hebrew newspaper "Haaretz" reported that the Israeli Ministry of Defense indicated that approximately 20,000 soldiers have been injured since the start of the war, in a statistic that reflects the extent of human losses, noting that nearly a thousand soldiers are submitting new requests each month to recognize their injuries.
The data showed that more than half of the injured are suffering from psychological trauma, with expectations that the number will double over the next three years.
It pointed out that the financial cost of treating soldiers with psychological injuries has risen to 8.3 billion shekels (about 2.5 billion dollars), half of which is allocated for trauma treatment, amid a clear shortage of medical personnel, with the ratio of therapists being one for every 750 patients.
The ministry added that 81,000 soldiers have been injured in various wars of Israel since October 2023, meaning that 25 percent of them (20,000) have fallen in the current war on Gaza.
It also noted that it has established new centers for psychological support and treatment, but warned that current laws are insufficient to keep up with the crisis, calling for new legislation to expedite meeting the needs of the injured.
The newspaper reported that a special committee is working on drafting a new law to address the rising number of injured, but these figures do not match the statistics from the official website of the occupation army, which announced that the number of injured reached 6,230 as of the evening of September 14 of this year.
Last June, the occupying state launched aggression against Iran, and has been committing genocide in Gaza for about two years, in addition to assaults in the West Bank and airstrikes on Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and recently an attack on the leadership of the "Hamas" movement in Qatar.
With American support, the occupying state continues its war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has so far resulted in 64,871 martyrs and 164,610 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, while famine has claimed the lives of 422 people, including 145 children.
The financial cost of treating soldiers with psychological injuries has risen to 8.3 billion shekels.
