US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, said on Tuesday, “The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed in my meeting with him last night his ‘commitment’ to the ceasefire proposal in Gaza presented by US President Joe Biden.”
According to Blinken, the Hamas statement supporting the Security Council resolution is a hopeful sign, considering that “the talk coming from the Hamas leadership inside Gaza is the most important and what we are waiting to see. The longer the matter continues, the greater the possibilities for the conflict to expand.”
Blinken said that talks on plans for the day after the end of the war will continue this afternoon and over the next two days.
A Hamas leader told Reuters, "The movement has agreed to the United Nations ceasefire resolution and is ready to negotiate the details."
