The official Hebrew Broadcasting Corporation reported on Tuesday that the Israeli army is preparing to invade the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip “very soon.”
The authority quoted two unnamed Israeli military sources as saying, “The army is preparing for a ground operation in Rafah very soon, which includes the evacuation of large numbers of residents.”
Itai Blumenthal, a military commentator for the Commission, explained that “according to the army’s plan, more than a million Palestinians present in Rafah will be asked to evacuate the area to shelters that were recently established in the south and central Gaza Strip.”
He added that thousands of tents had been prepared in advance by "international relief agencies and other countries (which he did not name)" in these areas to accommodate the displaced from Rafah.
The authority showed satellite images showing a “tent city” built in recent weeks between Rafah and Khan Yunis.
