Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in response to the shooting at the Allenby crossing: This is a difficult day and we are surrounded by a murderous ideology led by the Iranian axis of evil.
He added: We are committed to achieving the goals of the war, eliminating Hamas, returning all the kidnapped, and ensuring that Gaza no longer poses a threat.
He continued, saying: Hamas aims to sow division within us, wage a psychological war on the families of the detainees, and exert internal pressure.
