Jordan: The occupation put out bids to build new settlement units that undermine the two-state solution

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs condemned the Israeli authorities' bids for the construction of more than a thousand new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing that settlement activities are a flagrant and gross violation of international law, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution No. (2334).

The official spokesman for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Sinan Majali, said, "The settlement policy, in its entirety and in its details, represents a violation of international law and undermines the foundations of peace, efforts to achieve it, and opportunities for a two-state solution on the basis of international legitimacy decisions."

He stressed, "The unilateral practices carried out by Israel, the occupying power, in terms of building and expanding settlements, seizing lands and displacing Palestinians, are illegitimate, illegal, rejected and condemned practices, and represent a serious violation of international humanitarian law."

The Israeli "Peace Now" movement had revealed that the occupation government had issued tenders to build 1,029 settlement units in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
