The United Nations Security Council held an open session this evening, Tuesday, during which it discussed the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East will never be accomplished through more violence, but requires a collective commitment to diplomatic action, international law, and the dignity of all people, urging the Council to take necessary measures.
Guterres reiterated his warning that the possibility of achieving a two-state solution is steadily fading and has now reached its lowest levels in decades.
Every member of the Security Council must fulfill the responsibilities that rest upon them.
