Qatar announced yesterday, Thursday, that the Hamas movement informed it that it is still studying the latest proposal for a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip and a prisoner exchange with Israel, which was announced by US President Joe Biden a few days ago.
This came in a statement made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari to the official Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Al-Ansari said, “The mediators have not yet received a response from Hamas regarding the recent proposal regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal with the Israeli occupation,” explaining that the movement “reported that it is still studying the proposal.”
He added that "Qatar's joint mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States are continuing."
Al-Ansari called for "not paying attention to inaccurate media reports, and to rely on reliable official sources, especially in light of the sensitivity of the current negotiation situation."
