Russia: Trump's Ending Wars Statements Require Concrete Action

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said there must be "concrete measures that everyone is focused on" in response to Donald Trump's statement that he would "end wars" in his victory speech in the presidential election.

This came in her interview with the state-run Rossiya channel on Wednesday, regarding what Donald Trump's victory in the US elections means for Russia.

Zakharova pointed out that the US electoral process has turned into a crisis for years, expressing her fears that internal conflicts in the United States could lead to chaos.

She stressed that "it is an important development that those who received congratulations on winning the recent US elections realize that the United States must start with its own problems."

"Today we heard the thesis that the conflict that started due to the mistake of completely irresponsible American politicians must end," she said.

She added: "There is no doubt that after this thesis, concrete measures must be implemented that everyone focuses on."

Earlier on Wednesday, Republican candidate Donald Trump announced that he had achieved a "historic victory" in the US presidential election against his Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

Naim Qassem: We do not expect the war on Lebanon to end through any political action

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aims, through his aggression against Lebanon, to end Hezbollah's existence.

Trump's stock jumps 31%, Elon Musk gains $5 billion

Trump Media and Technology Group shares jumped 31.67% to $44.69 after Donald Trump declared victory in the presidential election and returned to the White House after a close race with candidate Kamala Harris.

Trump's company's market value was $6.8 billion, at the time of writing.

The company's shares have risen about 120% over the past month on bets on a Trump victory.

Trump owns 57.3% of his eponymous company, and its stock is seen as a meme stock, fluctuating on minor signals with moves that often do not reflect the company's underlying financial performance like other stocks.

The company's revenue was $1.6 million during the first six months of 2024, well below Snap's $2.4 billion and Reddit's $520 million during the period.

The stock price of Trump Media Inc. moved with Trump's victory, influenced by the betting market, which made the stock's rise seen as a vote of confidence in Trump's election victory.

The stock was trading at $16.50 a month ago when Trump's odds on betting platform Polly Market were 49%, and has more than doubled after bets on his victory rose to more than 60%.

Tesla jumps

Shares of Tesla Inc., whose CEO is American billionaire Elon Musk, jumped 14.53% to $287.9, after his support for Trump in winning the US presidency, which included providing money to voters to vote for him.

Last month, Musk pledged to donate $1 million a day until the election to anyone who signed his online petition to support the US Constitution.

Musk already gave a $1 million check to an attendee at an event he held in Pennsylvania to rally supporters behind Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Trump said in September that he would appoint Musk to oversee government spending and implement “radical” reforms if he won the election. Trump said he would establish, at Musk’s suggestion, a government efficiency commission that would conduct a full review of the financial accounts and performance of the entire federal government. He would appoint Tesla’s CEO to head it.

Expected results of the US elections.. Confusing scenarios for the "day after" in Washington

Thaer Abu Ras: Everyone is waiting, not only because of the traditional competition between the candidates, but also because of the importance of Trump’s personality and his position on the results.

Professor John Dabit: Harris' victory will represent an opportunity for progress in many areas, while Trump will have negative consequences, not only on the international level

Dr. Riad Al-Aila: The result will not be decided until the counting of the last ballot is completed, and there is no fundamental difference between the candidates regarding the events in the region.

Hani Al-Gamal: The day after the elections will witness a state of internal instability, especially if Harris wins due to Trump’s threats

Tawfiq Taama: The United States may witness widespread unrest if Harris wins because Trump sees the loss as a “personal insult”

Dr. Munther Al-Hawarat: Trump’s victory is a “catastrophe for the Palestinians” and will give Netanyahu more room to operate without restrictions, especially in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa

Yesterday, the voting process began in the US presidential elections, where Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are competing, while Americans and the world are awaiting the results, wondering about the “day after” in the United States, not only because of the traditional competition between the Republican and Democratic parties, but also because of the personality of the Republican candidate Trump, who did not hide his position on the results in advance if he lost and his competitor Harris won, as he stated yesterday that he would not accept the loss if it was not fair.

Writers, observers and political analysts who spoke to “I” believe that Trump’s statements that if he loses he will consider the elections to be fraudulent and will not accept the results raise concerns about the possibility of widespread chaos in the United States, which may result in violence similar to what happened in 2021, when Trump supporters tried to take control of the Congress building.

They consider the current US elections to be of exceptional importance, both in terms of US foreign policy and public and private freedoms within the United States. Despite their agreement that there is no fundamental difference between the candidates, especially with regard to Middle East issues and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, they believe that Harris’ victory may represent an opportunity for progress in several areas, including the war of extermination in Gaza and Lebanon and the events sweeping the Middle East. Meanwhile, if Trump wins and returns to power, he will provide absolute support to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his extremist government to continue the crimes of genocide and policies of displacing Palestinians and seizing their lands and properties, especially in Jerusalem.

Everyone is waiting because Trump is different from the mainstream

Thaer Abu Ras, a political researcher at the University of Maryland, said: The most prominent question in the United States currently is what will happen after the upcoming presidential elections, as everyone is anticipating not only because of the traditional competition between the two candidates, but also because of the importance of Donald Trump’s personality and his position on the results.

He added: In the usual American context, the loser is declared to respect the results and the winner is congratulated, but Trump is different from the norm, as to this day he has not acknowledged his loss in the presidential election four years ago.

Abu Ras explained that Trump and many of his inner circle have declared that they will not accept the results if he loses, noting that Trump has already said that if he loses, he will consider the elections rigged. These statements raise concerns about negative reactions if Trump’s campaign loses by a narrow margin, which could push him and his supporters to reject the results, and perhaps repeat scenes of violence like those that occurred on January 6, 2021, when his supporters tried to seize control of the Congress building.

Abu Ras added: This situation is highly sensitive, noting that if Kamala Harris wins by a narrow margin, the United States may go through a critical phase of tension and instability for weeks.

"If Trump loses quietly, things might calm down a bit, but if Trump feels like the election was stolen from him again, that could lead to bigger problems," he explained.

If Trump wins, Abu Ras believes that things may go more smoothly, expecting protests from demonstrators in the street without a major escalation from within the institutions.

However, Abu Ras said that the expected closeness in the results represents a challenge in light of the growing lack of confidence in the integrity of the electoral process among the American public, which adds complex dimensions to American national security, and may have repercussions even at the global level.

The US elections are of exceptional importance.

Professor John Dabit, a member of the Democratic Central Committee in Iowa, stressed that the US elections are of exceptional importance, as candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump compete over the future of US domestic and foreign policies.

"Harris' victory will represent an opportunity for progress in several areas, including enhancing health care programs, building a strong and sustainable economy, and strengthening international relations, as she is expected to work to stop the genocide in Gaza, and seek a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue," Dabit said.

On the other hand, Dabit warned that "Trump's victory will have negative consequences not only internationally, but also on public and private freedoms within the United States."

He explained that "Trump seeks to establish policies that would restrict civil rights," indicating that "if he is able to appoint judges to the Supreme Court, this may allow him to pass policies that negatively affect public and private rights, which may undermine the legal and social gains that the American people have achieved over the decades."

Trump pledges more support to Netanyahu

Dabit also referred to Trump's pledges to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he promised to give him more support in expanding Israeli control over the West Bank, which could exacerbate the situation in the region and increase complications in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Accordingly, Professor Dabit called on the Arab and Palestinian communities in the United States to support Harris, stressing that this support is necessary for a more prosperous future that enhances freedoms and contributes to achieving a fair balance in American foreign policy.

Chances of chaos similar to the 2020 election

Dr. Riad Al-Aila, Professor of Political Science at Al-Azhar University, stressed the importance of the US elections on both the domestic and international levels, noting that the result will not be decided until the last ballot is counted, as opinion polls show a close tie between the two candidates, which increases the likelihood of chaos similar to what happened in the 2020 elections.

Regarding the impact of the elections on the Palestinian issue, Al-Aila believes that the US administrations’ support for Israel will not change, and that the position of the current candidates does not bear a fundamental difference towards current events, especially the war in Gaza.

But he pointed out that the Democratic Party's victory could lead to some tensions between the US administration and the Israeli Prime Minister if the latter continues to refuse to submit to Washington's directives. Despite this, US support for Israel remains steadfast, especially with President Biden's repeated assurances of his unlimited support for it.

On the other hand, Donald Trump’s victory may be reflected differently, as Al-Aila believes that Trump, despite his harsh positions against the Palestinian people, may take a cautious stance towards wars due to his background as a businessman, as he views international issues, including the war in Gaza, from the perspective of economic profit and loss, recalling the $500 billion deal he obtained from Saudi Arabia during his previous term.

Al-Aila added that candidates' promises regarding their positions on international issues should be taken with caution, because they are often aimed at attracting voters more than setting actual policies.

He said, "The day after the elections will be surrounded by uncertainty, as the vision remains unclear, in light of election statements that cannot be relied upon as a fixed American policy."

The next day is a turning point for domestic and foreign policies.

Egyptian political analyst Hani Al-Gamal said: The day after the US elections will witness a state of internal instability, especially if Kamala Harris wins, given Donald Trump’s warnings of the possibility of chaos if the elections do not produce results in his favor.

Al-Jamal explained that this possibility reflects Trump's readiness to confront any unexpected results from the Electoral College and ballot boxes.

Al-Jamal believes that the day after the elections will be a turning point for domestic and foreign policies, as there will be a need to arrange American priorities domestically and abroad.

He pointed out that foreign issues will be the hottest, especially with Iran's threats of a possible strike on Israel in response to Israeli escalations, which makes the Iranian file and Middle East issues the focus of the upcoming US administration, whether headed by Trump or Harris.

He added that the war in Gaza and Lebanon will remain on the table of the next administration and will greatly affect foreign policy directions.

Al-Jamal also expected that the current elections would witness an increase in the filing of objections and lawsuits if the results were close, as both candidates might resort to requesting a recount of the votes or filing objections to the Supreme Court, especially with the fierce competition within the Electoral College, which requires 270 votes to win the presidency.

Impact of the results on international issues

Regarding the impact of these elections on international issues, Al-Jamal referred to the statements of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war, expecting that these statements will constitute an important part of the foreign political scene for the new US president, and that foreign policy files will be dealt with with greater focus than domestic issues.

Al-Jamal added that internal issues, such as immigration, economic inflation, and health care, will be slow to progress, especially after Trump's threats to tighten restrictions on immigrants using old laws.

He pointed out that the next US administration may move towards greater support for Israel, amid reports indicating that Netanyahu is obstructing security agreements and humanitarian initiatives related to the exchange of prisoners between Israel and the Palestinian factions.

He believes that any change in the US administration could lead to a re-evaluation of US support for Israel, as Netanyahu's case and his handling of the situation in Gaza and the West Bank will come under scrutiny.

Al-Jamal referred to Cairo's ongoing efforts to mediate between Hamas and Israel, stressing that regional solutions may be more effective under the current circumstances, and that the new US administration may contribute either to supporting Netanyahu or to press for a humanitarian truce.

Trump is likely not to accept the results if he loses.

American affairs analyst Tawfiq Tuma confirmed that reactions will vary greatly based on the results of the upcoming elections.

He said: If Trump wins, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is expected to accept the result and congratulate the new president, in accordance with traditional American protocol that emphasizes the principle of working for the country's interests after the elections.

If Trump loses, the United States could witness widespread unrest, with his supporters expected to protest and attack public and government institutions, similar to what happened after he lost the 2020 elections to President Joe Biden, when the country witnessed unfortunate events, including an attack on the Congress building and confrontations with the police, Taama added.

Taama indicated that Trump may resort to challenging the election results and claiming fraud, asking federal courts in states where he did not win to reconsider the counting process. Taama expected that the previous scenario that occurred in 2020, when the judiciary rejected the appeals and confirmed that there was no fraud, will be repeated, despite Trump continuing to believe that he won.

Taama explained that Trump sees the loss as a "personal insult," so he is likely to refuse to accept the results if he loses.

Taama pointed out that current opinion polls show an unprecedented closeness in the results between the candidates, which may lead to a delay in the sorting process, while stressing the need for the sorting process to be accurate and free of fraud or errors.

Fundamental changes in international policies

In turn, Jordanian political analyst Dr. Munther Al-Hawarat said: The victory of former President Donald Trump in the upcoming US elections will lead to fundamental changes in international policies, especially with regard to the war in Ukraine.

He explained that Trump plans to stop supplying Ukraine with weapons, which will strengthen Russian progress and stop financial support for NATO.

Conversely, if Democratic nominee Kamala Harris wins, she is expected to continue President Joe Biden’s approach to supporting Ukraine.

Trump will give absolute support to Netanyahu

Regarding Middle East issues, especially the Palestinian issue, the dialogues believe that Trump’s victory will allow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu more room to act without restrictions, which means the end of the two-state solution idea in favor of Israel’s absolute support for any measures it takes, especially in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The dialogues described Trump's return to power as a "catastrophe for the Palestinians," as he will adopt the "Abraham Accords" path and support Israeli steps in the region in an unprecedented manner.

In contrast, if Harris wins, she is expected to continue to support the two-state solution, but it will be formal support without concrete steps on the ground to achieve this solution, which may not lead to real progress on the Palestinian issue.

The Iranian file and the emerging danger from China

As for the Iranian file, the dialogues believe that “the Republican Party, led by Trump, may be inclined towards the option of a military solution with Iran, and will not oppose Israel striking the Iranian nuclear reactor. As for the Democrats, led by Harris, they will continue to support a deal with Iran, but with conditions that may include limiting Iranian military support outside its borders.”

The dialogues indicate that the American strategic vision will remain focused on the emerging threat from China, while seeking to stop the mutual attrition between the United States and Russia in Ukraine. However, if Trump wins, things may head towards a decline in American relations with the European Union due to his strong relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which further complicates the international scene.

The dialogues confirmed that the picture will become "very bleak" if Trump wins, which will leave a profound impact on international relations and alliances.

US Elections: Donald Trump Wins Race to Become 47th President

US President-elect Donald Trump has won the US presidential election, after receiving 277 electoral college votes so far.

Trump became the second president in US history to win the presidency for two non-consecutive terms.

The losing Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, has received 224 electoral college votes so far.

Trump said early Wednesday that he had won the presidential election over his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris.

Speaking to supporters in Florida, Trump said: "We made history tonight. Look at what happened, isn't it crazy?"

During his speech, Trump thanked the audience and his supporters from the American people for electing him as the "47th President of the United States," as he put it.

He claimed victory in key states, including Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Alaska. "That would put us at about 350 electoral votes," he said, noting that he had also won the popular vote.

Trump also announced that his Republican Party had won the Senate, expressing his joy at the victory amid the applause of his supporters who had waited for his speech for hours.

"The victories are great... nobody expected this... I want to thank you for that, and it looks like we will also maintain our control of the House of Representatives," he said.

Republicans have regained control of the US Senate, after taking two seats held by Democrats in West Virginia and Ohio, according to the Associated Press.

Trump also thanked his wife Melania for her support during his election campaign, saying: "I also thank all my wonderful family and children."

Trump also thanked US House Speaker Mike Johnson, who was among the first to announce his victory.

On the same occasion, Trump congratulated vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, saying, "I would like to be the first to congratulate him," before Vance took the floor to thank Republican voters in turn.

As he took the floor, Trump stressed that the United States is “one of the greatest countries and can be the greatest ever,” as he put it, and noted that “the country was on a bad path.” Regarding the immigration issue, Trump said: “We have to fix the border quickly. We want people to come in legally,” adding: “We will help the country heal.” At the end of his speech, Trump thanked the millions of Americans “who were the heart and soul of this great movement,” as he said. Trump promised to cut taxes, saying: “We can do things that nobody else can do. China doesn’t have what we have. Nobody else has what we have.”

"We will change the course of the country in many ways and this will be remembered as the day the American people took back control of their country," he said.

Trump pointed to the dynamics his campaign created, saying that the campaign was able to attract different Americans. “These people came from all over the place... from unions, black Americans, Latinos, Arab Americans, Muslim Americans... we have everyone, this is beautiful. This is a historic alliance that united people from different backgrounds.”

He continued, speaking about the two assassination attempts he faced during the election campaign, saying, "God saved me for a reason, and that reason is to save the country and restore America's greatness, and now we will accomplish this mission together."

He concluded by saying, "I will rule with a simple slogan... The promises that are made are promises that we keep and implement. Nothing will prevent me from fulfilling the promises that I made to myself in front of you."

"It's time to put aside the divisions of the past four years, it's time to unite. Success brings us together, and we're going to start by putting America first," he said. "Together, we can make America great again for all Americans."

"I will not let you down," he concluded. "America's future will be better."

By the time Trump took to the stage in front of his fans, he had 267 electoral college votes, compared to 214 for his rival Kamala Harris, putting him just three votes away from the 270 electoral college votes needed to secure the White House.

Today, Wednesday, settlers cut down more than 500 old olive trees in the village of Qaryut, south of Nablus.

According to local sources, the farmers were surprised when they entered their lands in the western area of the village after obtaining coordination for two days, when the settlers cut down more than 500 old trees from their lands, which are close to the “Eli” settlement, which was built on the lands of Qaryut, Al-Sawiya and Al-Luban Al-Sharqiya.

She added that the occupation prevented farmers from entering those lands for two years, and they were surprised by the extent of the destruction that befell their agricultural lands, noting that the occupation soldiers, accompanied by the colony guard "Koren", assaulted the farmers and members of the village council, conducted a field investigation with them and seized the olive picking equipment, despite their obtaining prior coordination to enter their lands to pick the olives.

This year, the olive harvest season in the West Bank is witnessing repeated attacks by settlers and occupation forces, which have reached the point of killing, burning and cutting down olive trees, stealing the crop, and preventing farmers from reaching their lands.

"Environmental Quality Authority": The occupation dropped more than 85 thousand tons of bombs on the Gaza Strip

The Environmental Quality Authority said that the Israeli occupation army dropped more than 85 thousand tons of bombs on the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023, which exceeds what was dropped in World War II.

It added in a statement issued today, Wednesday, on the occasion of the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Military Conflict, that the occupation's continuous bombing of the Gaza Strip has caused the destruction of vast areas of agricultural land and the contamination of the soil with toxic chemicals that will hinder agriculture for decades.

The Environment Quality Authority pointed out that the occupation used all types of weapons and shells in its ongoing aggression, most notably white phosphorus, which is prohibited by international law under the United Nations Convention on Conventional Weapons, which targets environmental components, causing serious environmental damage that threatens the lives of humans and living organisms.

She pointed out that the damage to the water resources infrastructure led to the leakage of polluted water into groundwater basins, which threatens a health and environmental disaster that threatens hundreds of thousands of residents for generations to come.

In the West Bank, the Environment Quality Authority said that the settlements and the military training of the occupation army pose a great danger to the Palestinian environment, as vast areas of land are subject to seizure, bulldozing, uprooting of trees and overgrazing, while the waste resulting from the occupation training damages water sources and pollutes the air, which leads to an exacerbation of environmental degradation, as it is estimated that the settlements pump about 40 million cubic meters of untreated wastewater annually into the Palestinian land.

The Environment Quality called on the United Nations and the international community to take urgent measures to stop the ongoing aggression and prevent the exploitation of the environment for military purposes, and to implement international laws, including the Geneva Protocol and the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use of Environmental Modification Techniques for Military Purposes, to protect the environment and prevent its deterioration as a result of armed conflicts.

She also called for highlighting and documenting the environmental violations taking place in the Palestinian territories, as the environmental damage caused by the occupation poses a serious threat to the health of Palestinians and a threat to the future of the entire region.

Environmental Quality stressed that environmental protection is not just a secondary option or a marginal issue, but rather a fundamental right linked to the right to a clean, safe, pollution-free environment. Any negligence or neglect of this right exposes humanity to catastrophic consequences that threaten environmental sustainability with a real danger that is difficult to remedy.

Israeli colonial settlers' War in the West Bank: The Criminal Tool of Political Leadership

Dr. Wasil Abu Yousef: National unity is the way to confront the crimes of the settlers, and efforts must be integrated to confront these dangers

Abdullah Abu Rahma: There is a need to rebuild a local protection system aimed at deterring settlers and confronting their attacks

Hani Abu Al-Sabaa: Settler crimes reflect a dangerous escalation and put the Palestinian Authority in an embarrassing position before its people

Dr. Omar Rahhal: Settlers have become a political tool in the hands of extremist government figures and are being exploited as an electoral reservoir

Nizar Nazzal: The settlers' attack on Al-Bireh carries messages that they seek to expand their attacks to include cities

Imad Musa: The main goal of the escalating settler crimes is to push the Palestinians towards forced displacement

The escalating attacks carried out by settlers in the West Bank reflect a dangerous development that reflects a major shift in the nature of these crimes, the level of violence accompanying them, and the places they reach, especially after they targeted the city of Al-Bireh by setting fire to citizens’ vehicles and homes, which reflects intentions for forced displacement and the implementation of the decisive plan proposed by Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

Politicians, activists, writers and analysts, in separate interviews with “I”, believe that these attacks come in the context of a war of extermination that seeks to consolidate the occupation policies through violent attacks on citizens in the West Bank and Gaza, stressing the importance of combining the efforts of the forces, factions, the Palestinian Authority and civil society to activate the popular guard committees to confront the settlers and protect property, and to move internationally to stop these violations and hold the aggressors accountable.

They assert that the settlers have extended their attacks beyond the remote areas to the major cities, and that this is part of a clear policy supported by the current Israeli government, with the aim of imposing a new reality that deprives the Palestinians of security in their cities and villages, and thus pressure towards displacement and land seizure.

large-scale war of extermination

Dr. Wasil Abu Yousef, coordinator of the National and Islamic Forces in Palestine, explains that the attacks carried out by settlers, the latest of which was the burning of vehicles and homes in the city of Al-Bireh, come within the framework of a large-scale war of extermination targeting the Palestinian people, whether in the Gaza Strip or in the West Bank.

Abu Yousef stressed that these crimes require concerted efforts between the various Palestinian forces and factions and all components of the Palestinian people, calling for the urgent activation of popular guard committees to confront these attacks.

Abu Yousef stresses that the responsibility of protecting property and citizens lies with everyone, and that there are several locations that require strengthening the popular presence in them, to ensure the safety of the residents and limit the escalation of settler attacks.

He stressed the importance of international action to uncover the crimes committed by settlers with the support of the occupation forces, noting that the international community is required to take a clear position against these serious violations, which constitute a breach of international laws, stressing that national unity is the way to confront these crimes, as well as the importance of coordination and integration of popular and political efforts in confronting the dangers threatening the Palestinians, in addition to the importance of the Palestinian Authority’s international action on the political, diplomatic and legal levels to confront these crimes.

An integrated system of violence that carries direct threatening messages.

Abdullah Abu Rahma, Director General of the Popular Action Department at the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, explains that the escalating attacks carried out by settlers against Palestinians come within an integrated system that combines Israeli government policies supporting settlements and acts of violence committed by the “Hill Youth Militias,” which was evident in the settlers’ arrival in the heart of Palestinian cities, as the city of Al-Bireh recently witnessed a violent attack by settler groups.

Abu Rahma points out that these attacks aim to send a clear message to the Palestinians that they are not wanted on their land, regardless of the classification of the areas, whether they are under Palestinian control according to classification “A”, or under joint administration in “B”, or “C” areas under full Israeli control according to the Oslo Accords.

Abu Rahma explains that these attacks carry direct messages of threat to the Palestinians, whether through intimidation or direct violence, as the existing policies reinforce the vision of the extremist Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, which stipulates the “decisiveness theory,” through which he promotes basic options for the Palestinians: either killing, emigrating, or submitting and accepting to live without any rights or protection under the umbrella of the “Jewish state.”

Abu Rahma believes that this vision represents an existential threat to the Palestinians, and seeks to undermine any future possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

Abu Rahma points out that the development of settler crimes reflects a noticeable escalation in their violence, as attacks are no longer limited to individual acts of vandalism such as writing on walls or puncturing car tires, as was the case previously, but have moved to carrying out collective attacks and comprehensive arson, such as what happened in the towns of Huwara, Al-Mughayyir and other villages in the West Bank, all the way to the city of Al-Bireh.

Destabilizing the security of the Palestinians and forcing them to leave

Abu Rahma asserts that these crimes come with clear political support from the current Israeli government, as the perpetrators of these crimes have received sympathy and support from prominent political figures, such as Itamar Ben-Gvir and Benjamin Netanyahu, which reinforces an environment that repels Palestinians and besieges them in their quest to expand their living spaces or move freely.

Abu Rahma explains that the settlers’ crossing of all red lines and their audacity to penetrate Palestinian cities, as happened in the city of Al-Bireh, brings to mind the massacres of the Zionist gangs in 1948, such as the Deir Yassin and Tantura massacres, as civilians are being targeted again today in populated areas, which could herald a dangerous escalation, as the settlers’ crimes could reach our homes and the heart of cities.

Abu Rahma stresses that these attacks aim to destabilize the security of the Palestinians and push them to leave their land, as there are no longer “classifications” for areas between “A,” “B,” and “C,” as promoted by extremists such as Smotrich, who asserts that the dream of establishing a Palestinian state has ended, and that there is no place for the concept of a “Palestinian state” within the current Israeli vision.

The absence of international accountability encouraged the escalation of settler attacks

Abu Rahma believes that the absence of international accountability is one of the most prominent factors that encouraged the settlers to escalate their attacks. No punitive measures are taken against them, but rather they are released if they are arrested, as happened in the case of the settler accused of killing the martyr Qusay Mu’tan in Burqa, who was released after only a few days of detention and continues to practice his terrorism and crimes and leads organized groups.

Abu Rahma considers these Israeli policies to be a challenge at the international level, as the international community must seek to hold the settlers accountable, stressing that there are a number of settlers involved in these crimes whose names have been listed, but no tangible steps have been taken against them.

Abu Rahma calls for action on several levels to confront these increasing attacks. On the international level, it is necessary to demand action to prosecute these settlers and bring them to trial, and for the international community to assume its responsibilities in providing protection to the Palestinian people.

Abu Rahma stresses the importance of involving international solidarity activists and Israeli activists who support peace in these efforts, calling for activating the role of foreign diplomats and consuls in the Palestinian territories through field visits to the affected areas, to convey an accurate picture of the crimes committed and mobilize international support to stop them.

At the local level, Abu Rahma stresses the need to activate popular protection committees in the Palestinian territories to effectively confront settler attacks, stressing that Palestinians cannot wait for settlers to arrive at their doorsteps without preparation, and that there is a need to rebuild a local protection system aimed at deterring these attacks and ensuring the security and safety of citizens in every village and city.

Abu Rahma points out that rapid action on the ground has become necessary, especially in Palestinian villages located on the outskirts of areas exposed to settler attacks, where guard teams must be established to work around the clock and monitor settler movements, and for members of the security establishment to play their role in the areas where they are present, so that the scene of the recent attacks that targeted civilian areas is not repeated.

Abu Rahma asserts that the ongoing attacks by settlers, the lack of accountability for their crimes, and the extremist threats of the Israeli government are a dangerous indication of Israel’s intentions to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands, or face genocide as is happening in Gaza.

Abu Rahma calls on everyone, whether at the national, Arab, Islamic or international level, to assume their responsibilities to protect defenceless Palestinian civilians and prevent their displacement from their lands.

Settlers carry out the aggressive tasks of the occupation army

The writer, political analyst and specialist in Israeli affairs, Hani Abu Al-Sabaa, confirms that the recent storming of the city of Al-Bireh by a group of extremist settlers, and their setting fire to homes and vehicles belonging to citizens, is a dangerous escalation that reflects an increase in the level of crimes committed by the settlers.

Abu Al-Sabaa explains that this incident sends several important messages, most notably the settlers’ attempt to assume the role and duties of the Israeli army in suppressing the Palestinians, especially after repeated reports indicating an increase in targeting them with stones and Molotov cocktails on bypass roads in the West Bank.

According to Abu Al-Sabaa's analysis, the settlers believe that the army is not doing its duty to protect them, and therefore they seek to carry out the army's tasks themselves, to terrorize and deter the Palestinians.

Abu Al-Sabaa points out that the settlers also seek, through these attacks, to terrorize the popular incubator of the resistance, as they believe that targeting Palestinian cities and villages in the north and center will lead to exhausting the popular incubator, and pushing the residents to leave their lands, in an attempt to impose an undeclared forced displacement.

This policy, according to Abu Al-Sabaa, relies on direct pressure on Palestinians to force them to leave their property, which is a clear violation of all international conventions and a violation of the sovereignty of the Palestinian Authority in the areas under its security control.

He stressed that these crimes put the Palestinian Authority in a critical position before its people, as it now has a great responsibility to provide effective protection for citizens. The Authority is also required today to take international action through the relevant institutions to expose the crimes of the settlers and highlight the seriousness of these attacks, especially with the international community’s commitment so far to verbal condemnation without taking tangible measures to limit this brutal behavior.

Abu Al-Sabaa points out that the US government has recently demanded that the Israeli government put an end to these attacks, but Abu Al-Sabaa stresses that the settlers are acting with the undeclared encouragement of the occupation forces deployed in the West Bank, which provides them with direct cover to continue their crimes. This is clearly evident in the behavior of the settlers who take the law into their own hands and deliberately implement punishments through violent attacks and arson, with the aim of displacing Palestinians from their lands.

Settlers reach the heart of Palestinian-controlled areas

Abu Al-Sabaa addresses the settlers’ arrival in the heart of areas under Palestinian security control, considering that this is a clear message to the Palestinians that they are not safe even in areas where the Palestinian Authority has a strong presence.

This reality, according to Abu Al-Sabaa, reflects the lack of a limit to the crimes committed by settlers, as there is no deterrent or obstacle to limit their violent behavior, which increases the pressure on the Palestinian Authority and places it before a major challenge in light of these escalating circumstances.

He points out that there are calls to form popular protection committees from the residents, with the aim of watching over their property at night, and creating a state of alert that warns the residents of any possible incursions or attacks.

At the same time, Abu Al-Sabaa points out that other calls are increasing for deterrence using means of resistance, to secure property and provide a real response that prevents the settlers from repeating these attacks.

Abu Al-Sabaa stresses that what is required is to strengthen popular unity and solidarity, and to restore the means of the first intifada to form popular committees that protect villages near settlements and cities adjacent to bypass roads, in order to limit the ongoing attacks of settlers.

Settlers have become the "spearhead" of the occupation army

Writer and political analyst Dr. Omar Rahhal, director of the Shams Center for Human Rights, believes that settlers’ attacks against Palestinians include several clear messages that seek to prove that these lands belong to Israel, according to a religious perspective that seeks to wrest the Palestinians’ right to live on their land.

Rahhal points out that the settlers have become a political tool in the hands of far-right government figures such as Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, as they are exploited as an electoral reservoir that guarantees their continued rule within a policy that adopts settlements as one of its essential foundations.

He stresses that these attacks are not individual acts, but that the settlers have become the "spearhead" of the Israeli army in implementing agendas focused on displacing Palestinians and inflicting the greatest possible human and material losses.

Rahhal believes that the ultimate goal of these policies is to destroy the spirit of hope among Palestinians and strip them of their sense of security.

Rahhal confirms that the concept of forced displacement does not exist in the Palestinian “dictionary,” and cites historical experiences that have proven that the Palestinians cling to their land and refuse displacement, despite the ongoing pressures.

Rahhal believes that the increasing attacks by settlers puts the Palestinian political system, especially the security establishment, in a worsening crisis of confidence with citizens, who feel frustrated as a result of the inability to provide them with the necessary protection in the face of these escalating attacks.

Rahhal points out that there is a failure by all concerned parties, whether factions, official institutions, or civil society institutions, to provide protection for the Palestinian people, which has encouraged the settlers to escalate their attacks, and perhaps prepare to commit organized massacres in the near future, as Rahhal believes that the current attacks are nothing but a “rehearsal” for something bigger and more dangerous.

He believes that the recent attacks in the city of Al-Bireh provide clear evidence of this systematic escalation, as settlers seek to commit more crimes against Palestinians, with the aim of displacing them from their areas and causing more victims. He believes that this type of crime requires a firm response from Palestinian institutions, and that there are several options available to Palestinians to confront this threat.

Regarding the possible options, Rahhal points out the necessity for the Palestinian security establishment to assume its full responsibilities in providing security and protection to citizens, considering this role a basic duty for any security establishment in the world.

Rahhal suggests, on the other hand, that the Palestinian factions and local municipalities cooperate in forming popular protection committees that enhance the capabilities of defending the population, and that responsibility not be limited to official institutions only.

Opportunities for influence through the international community

On the international level, Rahhal believes that there are opportunities for influence through the international community, by activating the role of the United Nations to pressure Israel to stop the settlers’ attacks, in addition to pushing for more pressure on the International Criminal Court, with the aim of considering the settlers illegitimate and prosecuting them for violations against the Palestinian people.

Rahhal recommends intensifying efforts to prosecute settlers in international and national courts, to enhance the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause and expand the scope of international solidarity with it.

Rahhal stresses that the Palestinians do not lack options to confront these challenges, stressing the importance of combining internal and external efforts, through cooperation between official and popular bodies, and pushing for strong positions in international forums, to ensure stopping the ongoing escalation and protecting the rights of the Palestinians.

Settler attacks echo 'Nakba'

Nizar Nazzal, a researcher specializing in Israeli affairs and conflict issues, believes that the wave of violence and attacks carried out by Israeli settlers in the West Bank bears echoes of the “Nakba” of 1948, which led to the displacement and homelessness of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

Nazzal explains this increasing escalation by the settlers as coming within an organized strategy that goes beyond randomness, as these attacks have become systematic and are managed by the settlement leadership and under the supervision of the Israeli security and political authorities, which reflects a noticeable increase in the level of threats targeting the Palestinian community in the West Bank.

Nazzal points out that the spread of weapons among settlers has reached unprecedented numbers, as about 200,000 weapons were distributed under direct orders from Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who, along with extremist Minister Bezalel Smotrich, is keen to strengthen support and coordination among settlers.

Nazzal asserts that settler leaders in the West Bank are working to develop an organized network of attacks on Palestinian towns and cities, and it seems that incitement to displace Palestinians is part of the hidden goals that Israel seeks to achieve, with the help of settlers, within the framework of what is known as the “decisiveness” plan sponsored by Smotrich.

He points out that the Israeli government now considers the settlers as a solid base that supports its policies in the West Bank.

According to Nazzal, the settlers are now reinforcing the government's current position, and are forming something like a militia parallel to the Israeli army, carrying out violent attacks that the army is unable to carry out or that might anger the international community, even though the international community so far seems uninterested in condemning these violations effectively.

Nazzal asserts that the international silence, especially from the United States, is considered a “green light” for more violence against the Palestinians, especially with the spread of weapons in the hands of settlers who carry out organized attacks that extend beyond remote Palestinian villages to the heart of cities.

In the context of the recent attacks on the city of Al-Bireh, Nazal considers these attacks a “qualitative step” that carries symbolic messages that the settlers are seeking to extend their control and expand their activity to include the major cities, and not just the remote villages that were previously subjected to attacks.

He believes that this change reflects a dangerous escalation, and confirms that the settlers’ goals go beyond random threats, to become calculated and complicit with the political leadership, which does not hide its support for these movements.

Nazzal points out that Israeli leaders celebrated the number of armed settlers reaching about 200,000, which reflects direct political support and increases the seriousness of the situation, especially since these weapons were distributed in an organized manner and with the support of the institutions of the occupying state.

Nazzal points out that these attacks may contribute to motivating Palestinians to voluntarily emigrate for fear of an unknown fate, stressing that the silence of the international community and the absence of an Arab deterrent encourage the settlers to continue.

Nazzal believes that this escalation is merely a prelude to a dangerous scenario and a long-term plan that may lead to a radical change in the demographic structure of the West Bank, and aims to create a new reality on the ground that is impossible to change in the future.

Nazzal believes that the Palestinian response to this escalation must take several paths, starting with achieving true national unity among all Palestinian factions.

Formation of local guard committees

Nazzal stresses the need to form local guard committees to protect citizens and their property from organized attacks by settlers, and to confront these militias that have become a parallel force to the Israeli army.

According to Nazzal, confronting these violations also requires exposing them at the international level and shedding light on the dangers facing the Palestinian people, stressing that this step may help in enhancing international awareness of the seriousness of the threat facing the Palestinians.

Nazzal calls on the Palestinian leadership to activate the role of international institutions, especially the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, in order to condemn the settlers, considering that their actions are crimes that require accountability, stressing the need to follow up their cases before international courts to besiege them legally.

Nazzal believes that this move will put pressure on Israel and limit the unlimited international support for its practices.

Nazzal warns of the consequences of being lenient in confronting the settlers, who have become an “army within an army.”

But Nazzal confirms that previous experiences prove the Palestinians’ ability to withstand Israeli plans, no matter how dangerous they are. However, this steadfastness requires support and integration between Palestinian factions and institutions, warning that the continuation of the current situation may push some Palestinians to seek safer havens, and this is what Israel wants to weaken the steadfastness of the people in their land.

Imad Musa: The main goal of settler crimes is to push Palestinians towards forced displacement

Writer and political analyst Imad Musa explains that the attacks carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinians are not individual acts, but rather represent a fundamental aspect of the strategy of the far-right government in Israel.

Musa believes that what is happening on the ground is an extension of the policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide, with the aim of annexing the entire West Bank to Israeli control, by exploiting the current circumstances as a last opportunity to implement this project.

Musa points out that the danger of the attacks does not stop at citizens only, but extends to targeting Palestinian security institutions, by provoking armed confrontations between settlers and the Israeli army on the one hand, and Palestinian security services on the other hand, as Israel seeks to exhaust those services and destroy their infrastructure, by destroying their headquarters and causing the largest possible number of deaths and injuries among their members, which leads to putting them out of service and spreading a state of chaos and instability.

Musa believes that the main goal of these actions is to push the Palestinians towards forced displacement, as Israel exploits the arson and deliberate destruction of Palestinian homes and property to push them to leave their lands.

Musa points out that the ongoing attacks also seek to eliminate the Oslo Accords, as the settlers consider the Oslo Accords a “sin” that must be completely erased.

“The settlers and the far-right government dared to attack the UN Charter publicly, as happened when the Israeli representative to the UN tore up the charter before the General Assembly,” Musa said. “These attacks expanded to include UNRWA and its employees, as its headquarters were demolished and vandalized, in addition to incidents of arrest and assassination of some of its employees.”

Musa confirms that the Israeli attack on UNIFIL forces in Lebanon is a dangerous precedent in the history of the United Nations, in order to control the headquarters of those forces.

According to Musa, the Israeli army seeks, through these attacks, to dismantle international legitimacy, and thus, creating a state of chaos in the global system could allow Israel to expand eastward, benefiting from the increasing support from some Arab countries that have signed normalization agreements with it.

Musa stressed that the settlers' arrival to the heart of Palestinian cities is clear evidence of their determination and ability to implement their expansionist project without fear or hesitation, calling for confronting this growing danger by strengthening Palestinian national unity and taking measures to confront them.

Musa stresses that the international community plays a crucial role in confronting these policies, calling for intensified diplomatic efforts to pressure the international community and demand that it reconsider Israel’s membership in the United Nations, on the basis that it has violated the terms of membership and deserved the status of a “rogue entity,” thus opening the way for its international prosecution through the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, in addition to its prosecution at the national level in some countries.

Musa believes that such steps may lead Israel to unprecedented challenges on the international level, most notably the destabilization of the legitimacy of its existence and the loss of support it relies on from liberal Western countries, which may lead to the erosion of the values that Israel markets itself as a democratic state that respects human rights and freedoms.

Escalation of aggression on the West Bank

op-ed "AlQuds" dot com

op-ed "AlQuds" dot com

Opinion Writer

Yesterday, Israel escalated its aggression against citizens and property in the West Bank, in a continuous and ongoing series of destroying the infrastructure, targeting civilians, and making their lives difficult, which have never been normal. It is a life of pride and dignity, and Israel is trying to disarm its moral weapon by remaining steadfast and clinging to the land through these dangerous practices and violations.

In one day, the Israeli army assassinated seven citizens; two in Tamoun in Tubas, and five in Qabatiya in Jenin, through airstrikes, gunfire, and direct targeting, in addition to destroying and blowing up a house in Qabatiya, carrying out arrest campaigns, large-scale raids on homes, and attempting to humiliate citizens by arresting, shackling, and cuffing them.

The city of Tulkarm, its camp, and the Nour Shams camp were the scene and stage of large-scale bulldozing operations, through a large-scale invasion campaign, which included bulldozing operations, which caused great damage to citizens’ property, infrastructure, and public facilities.

The destruction operations included the main water line that supplies Tulkarm camp, burning a commercial store, bulldozing entire neighborhoods, imposing a siege on the camps, in addition to arrests, firing tear gas at citizens, and obstructing the movement of cars.

Israel bears full responsibility for the massacres of killing and destruction it has committed in the northern West Bank. There is no doubt that this comes within the framework of the plan of the extreme right in Israel, which calls for the expulsion and displacement of Palestinians as part of its comprehensive war on our people. The manifestations of this plan are what was stated by the dismissed Israeli Minister of Defense, Galant, and what was stated by the Chief of Staff, Halevi, after a series of meetings over the past few days with the leaders of the extremist settlers, where they reaffirmed that the West Bank is an arena and a war front, and it must be curbed and worked hard in it to prevent the recurrence of what they claim are false narratives that indicate the intentions of the Palestinian resistance to carry out storming operations in the northern settlements, similar to what happened in the settlements of the Gaza Envelope on October 7, 2023.

Not long ago, the demolition massacres in Jerusalem witnessed a noticeable increase in their pace yesterday, through the demolition of seven houses in the town of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, all with the aim of emptying the historic Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of its people and residents and displacing them, which caused the displacement of more than 50 citizens who became homeless.

There must be a serious and firm stand in which the conscience of global humanity intervenes, but it seems that this conscience has lost the sense and feeling of the need of an oppressed people to lift the aggression against them in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem. It seems that this silence is considered a cover for Israel to continue its aggression against our people. In addition to the daily war of extermination in the Strip, the incursions and assassinations in the West Bank are an additional series that completes the cycle of Israeli killing of everything Palestinian.

Harris supported genocide and Trump reeks of the new deal of the century

Oraib Al Rantawi

Oraib Al Rantawi

Opinion Writer

I won't risk making "predictions" about which of the two White House contenders will prevail in the November 5 race, a risk that becomes increasingly difficult as the poll numbers become closer and appear to be neck-and-neck with the two contenders on the road to the Oval Office.

What concerns us here is to extrapolate what the victory of either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump could mean for the region’s wars and open crises. Are there fundamental differences in the positions of the two parties on the issues of the inflamed region that require attention, and what is the most dangerous scenario for the Palestinians in Gaza, and even for the Palestinian cause and the future of the Palestinian national project?

Although the “question of differences” has lost much of its political value, in light of the hypocritical and evasive performance of the Biden/Harris administration over the past four years, specifically in the “Year of the Flood” and beyond, and the administration’s reluctance to “correct” Trump’s mistakes and sins against the Palestinians and Arabs on the one hand, and its bias to the point of complicity in the war crimes committed by the fascist right-wing government in Israel on the other hand... we say, despite all this, the question still exists, and has political value, which must be anticipated and taken into consideration.

Trump if he comes back!

We are not facing a new candidate, so we must wait to learn about his choices and orientations. The man has ruled the White House for four years, and he is naturally a talkative person, who says what is in his heart on his tongue, and he is simplistic to the point of believing that he has magical and immediate solutions to the most complex problems in the universe.

In his first term, he granted Israel a series of major prizes: he recognized “united Jerusalem” as the capital of Israel, moved his country’s embassy from Tel Aviv to it, approved the annexation of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights to Israeli sovereignty, and launched a project bearing his name for the final solution to the Palestinian conflict, which was widely known as the “Deal of the Century,” through which he granted Netanyahu’s government nearly a third of the West Bank.

Not to mention, of course, the closure of the PLO office in Washington and the US consulate in East Jerusalem, a century and a half after their opening, in addition to the fierce “McCarthyist” campaign against the United Nations organizations, especially “UNRWA” and human rights organizations.

It can be said without exaggeration that Trump has overthrown the “paradigm” that has governed the positions and policies of successive American administrations, Republican and Democratic, regarding the Palestinian issue, and has set for himself a different model. He has overthrown the traditional regional framework surrounding it, specifically the Jordanian and Egyptian roles, and replaced it with another regional framework, almost confined to the Saudi and Emirati roles, which was viewed by Amman, at the very least, as marginalization of the Jordanian role in one of its most vital areas.

Because of this, Jordanian political elites felt that Washington, under Trump’s leadership, not only threatens the deepest interests and legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, but also began to show greater “tolerance” towards sacrificing Jordan’s interests, calculations, and sensitivities, within the framework of his project for a final solution to the Palestinian issue.

A question dominating political, diplomatic and media circles is: What can Trump offer Israel in his second term? Especially after a disturbing comment he made a few weeks ago, when he saw Israel as “very small” on the world map, and that the time had come to think about expanding it.

Packages and generosity

I think that Trump will be more decisive and firm in stopping the war, and as soon as possible, because that is his personality, and that is his way of dealing with crises, players and leaders, opponents and allies alike.

But the man will be more "generous" in giving more consolation prizes to the Netanyahu government and the most extreme right. If not in return for rushing to stop the war, then as an expression of the unity of the situation between the American right, which he represents and embodies in his administration, and the fascist right that is rampant on the map of the government and the opposition in Tel Aviv.

I also think that Trump will scoop from the West Bank primarily to satisfy the expansionist appetite of the religious and nationalist right in Israel, and I do not rule out that he will give the Netanyahu government a green light to annex Area C of the entire West Bank, and cram its residents into Areas A and B, within the framework of the “Deal of the Second Century,” even if that leads to burying any chance of establishing a viable Palestinian entity, and I am not talking here about an independent Palestinian state.

New scenarios.

It is most likely that the “Deal of the Century 2” will restore the Jordanian and Egyptian roles, unlike the state of neglect and marginalization that these two roles were subjected to in the “Deal of the Century 1,” but from a different gateway this time... the gateway to receiving the outcomes of the “final solution,” the Israeli-American solution to the Palestinian issue.

Jordan, in Trump’s view, could be a “lifeline” for the Palestinian entity established on the “remnants of the West Bank,” within a federal or confederal formula, and Egypt will remain the gateway to the Israeli solution for Gaza, if the re-engineering of the Strip succeeds... and always to help Israel get rid of the Palestinian “surplus demographics.”

It would be possible to claim that a Palestinian state has been established on the national soil or what remains of it, and that as a "sovereign" and "independent" entity it has decided to enter into a kind of "unity or union" with its sister country Jordan. It is likely that such a project will find support from several Arab circles, and capable countries may even rush to provide it with money and reconstruction, to be the "Singapore" of the Middle East, the expression here being Donald Trump's "chat" about the future of the Gaza Strip.

Players Map

Those welcoming Trump’s return in the region and the world will not make the “Deal of the Century 2” a reason to spoil the relationship with a Republican administration in appearance, but “Trumpian” in essence. Trumpism is the most vulgar populist expression of the rising far-right movements in the West, which includes several Arab countries, as well as international players such as the Russian Federation, which gives absolute priority to getting out of the “Ukrainian quagmire” and stopping the war in its arena.

In return, he may go for long-term settlements and “bartering,” including facilitating Trump’s mission in some of the most complex Middle East issues… Such a development (Trump’s return) may be worrying for the European Union and its influential countries, with its implications for the relationship between the two sides of the Atlantic, the future of NATO, and divisions over a number of major issues that top the global agenda, such as the issue of climate change, for example, but not limited to.

Bad and worse

When faced with two bitter choices, or between bad and worse, Kamala Harris seems to be the preferred choice for many Palestinian and Arab circles (the Authority, Jordan, Egypt, and others), and she is also the most suitable choice for regional parties such as Iran, as diplomacy takes precedence over “beating the drums of war” in everything related to Iran’s nuclear program.

While Moscow will greet such a development with great concern, President Harris, continuing the Obama administration, will continue to rally support for Ukraine, to defeat Russia, and subsequently China, the greatest threat to the United States’ hegemonic influence, over the international economy and order.

Future strategies

The options and margins of maneuver are shrinking for the Palestinians, as they choose between two bitter choices: a devolved administration that has given Israel in ten months of war what it has obtained from Democratic and Republican administrations in ten years, and another administration that reeks of the old deal of the century and a new one, threatening to strip them of their land, rights and holy sites. This dictates that they develop a new national strategy that shakes off the illusions of imminent political solutions and establishes the foundations for the continuation of this conflict, perhaps for decades and generations to come.

A strategy that builds on what was achieved in terms of strengthening Palestine’s position on the world’s agenda, as a result of the “flood.”

A strategy that seeks to strengthen the bonds of alliance with countries and global youth and popular movements that have been liberated from the “Israeli narrative.”

A strategy that begins with putting the Palestinian house in order, away from the weak projects for dialogue and reconciliation that have not led to any tangible results. A strategy whose focus is "steadfastness and resistance", and strengthening the acquired immune system of Palestinian society, which is suffering under successive occupations, old and new, by the same enemy.. A strategy that revives

Renewing the Palestinian national movement and reclaiming the PLO.

A strategy that restores the role of the Arab peoples in supporting, backing, resisting normalization, and strengthening the boycott, considering it a battle for these peoples to defend their future, freedom, and dignity, and not a seasonal expression of solidarity with a brotherly Arab people groaning under the yoke of a racist, exterminationist occupation that does not hesitate to wage wars of encirclement, cleansing, and extermination against our Arab peoples, as happened and is happening in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon.

A strategy that moves the Palestinian people's struggle for freedom and independence from dependence on others to dependence on oneself and on loyal friends.

The international position and confronting the ban on UNRWA

Sari Al Qudwa

Sari Al Qudwa

Opinion Writer

The seriousness of the decision of the occupying power, Israel, which was taken by the Israeli Knesset to ban the activities of UNRWA and prevent it from carrying out its duties, and to evade international obligations towards it, which will have a negative and direct impact on the work of the agency in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as well, and its implementation will lead to the collapse of the system of health, education and relief services provided to refugees, and the expected consequences of this decision on the lives of about 6 million Palestinian refugees, especially since there are more than two million Palestinians in Gaza who have become completely dependent on UNRWA to provide food and aid, in addition to about 300 thousand children who depend on UNRWA to obtain education in the Strip.

The decision itself goes beyond the usual Israeli criminality because it affects the future of millions of Palestinians inside and outside Palestine, and it aims to completely destroy the fabric of Palestinian society, in addition to emptying the refugee issue of its content and accelerating the scenarios of displacement and ethnic cleansing taking place in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

International efforts must be unified to end the war and put an end to the genocide being practiced against the Palestinian people. The focus should be on reaching an agreement to end the war on the Gaza Strip, rather than focusing on banning the agency or finding alternatives to it. Dismantling UNRWA in the absence of a viable alternative will deprive Palestinian children of education, and the children of Gaza are now losing a second year of education, as UNRWA is the only UN agency that provides education directly in its schools. In the West Bank, approximately 50,000 children receive education in these schools.

The seriousness of the current situation must be acknowledged, as must confronting Israel’s decision to ban UNRWA’s work, which aims politically to eliminate the right of Palestinian refugees to return, and also contributes to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, where more than 70% of the population are refugees, since UNRWA is responsible for providing services in the refugee camps, and is also the entity that carries out the largest part of the relief and humanitarian aspect in the Strip in light of the ongoing war of extermination.

The United Nations must pay attention to the seriousness of these Israeli decisions, which constitute a precedent for the work of UN organizations and agencies. The United Nations must protect these organizations, and the membership of states in the United Nations imposes obligations and responsibilities that Israel wants to evade and avoid the consequences of. Israel must never get away with these decisions, and there is no alternative to UNRWA in providing health and educational services to refugees in its areas of operation, especially since it is the cornerstone of humanitarian work in Gaza, which is facing conditions approaching famine, especially in the northern part of the Strip.

Urgent Arab and international action is necessary to issue a UN resolution that includes a categorical rejection of these unilateral measures taken by the occupying power. There must be comprehensive and broad action at the international level to confront the Israeli decision and explain its dangerous repercussions on security and stability, and to form an international framework to pressure the decision and continue to provide the necessary support to UNRWA to enable it to continue providing the necessary services to Palestinian refugees, until the implementation of UN General Assembly Resolution No. 194 of 1948 on the right of refugees to compensation and return to their homes from which they were displaced.

How long will the killing and deliberate destruction continue?

Josep Borrell, the EU foreign policy chief, said it very clearly and with undiplomatic frankness:

The situation in the occupied Palestinian territories: “deteriorating by the hour” and “no one is able or willing to stop the war.”

The colony commits massacres against Palestinian civilians, destroys their homes, properties, and civil institutions, including schools, hospitals, and infrastructure, including streets, roads, and pumps, to make life impossible throughout the Gaza Strip, until it lacks the elements of residence and decent living.

The Palestinian people are facing killing and destruction, by clinging to survival and steadfastness on the land of their homeland, which is their only homeland, and continuing life. Their faith is great, their self-confidence is limitless, they are paying the price for their freedom and dignity, and the forces of the colony are working to get rid of the demographic factor, of the Palestinians, since they cannot have a colonial state, on the land of others, on the land of Palestine, and on it and in it are more than seven million Palestinian Arabs.

The US complicity and support for the colony, militarily and politically, has crossed the boundaries of morality, the boundaries of law, and the boundaries of logic. Some European countries are silently upset, because the Israeli killing and destruction of Palestine has crossed all standards, laws, and humanitarian boundaries. However, they do not have the courage to take a firm stance, a stance of condemnation and demanding sanctions, because the US is standing in their way, and because the local political forces in their European countries are practicing hypocrisy with the Zionist Jewish influence, as Germany did by formulating laws that prohibit anyone who criticizes the colony, its policies, and its criminal behavior.

Nazi Germany, which persecuted the Jews and set up crematoriums for them, today claims to care about the feelings of the Jews and not to harm their feelings and emotions under the pretext of “not being anti-Semitic.” It went to extremes and extremism in this, with the same standards of extremism and extremism when it dealt with the Jews in the thirties and forties of the last century, and after that it provided financial compensation to the governments of the colony for their crimes against the Jews.

It has not been recorded that any Arab, Muslim or Christian was with Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and before them Tsarist Russia, in their hostility towards the Jews, because the Arab Jews, whether in Palestine, Yemen, Tunisia or Morocco, are part of our people and our nationality, before Zionism committed its criminal political and practical act of working, coordinating and relying on British colonialism, to colonize Palestine and expel, displace and liquidate half of the Palestinian Arab people, to establish the Israeli expansionist colonial project on the ruins and results of the Palestinian displacement.

The crimes committed by the colony against the Palestinians, Lebanese and Syrians are no less bad, degraded and degraded than what Nazism, fascism and Tsarism did against them in Europe. Today, it is working to complete what it did in 1948, of liquidation, killing and destruction, with the aim of pushing the Palestinians to leave their country and homeland, after it destroyed two-thirds of the homes of the people of Gaza, killed tens of thousands and injured many times that number.

No one is able or willing to stop the barbaric colony's war against the crucified and tortured Palestinian people, as European official Josep Borrell said, but for how long?

Elections that occupy the world... do not occupy us

Bahaa Rahal

The world is preoccupied with the American elections, especially these days when the Democratic and Republican candidates are competing for the presidency of the US states, so that all eyes are on the election results and the announcement of the winner who will ascend to the White House, while a scene of Palestinian disengagement from these elections prevails, nor what could result from them in terms of the victory of Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. The extent of the clear and large bias towards Israel from both candidates and parties is the same, and this is America’s permanent policy towards Israel, which has not changed since the establishment of the entity. The permanent bias in all years and with every party, whether Democratic or Republican, is a well-known characteristic, a permanent hateful tune, and the clear hostility to the cause of our people, their self-determination and their obtaining of their legitimate rights, is the approach of both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, who competed during the election campaign to support the entity, its government, its ongoing war, and its support in all international and UN forums.

In particular, the Palestinian is not concerned with these elections, and cannot rely on an American position after what we have witnessed during more than a year of the war of extermination in Gaza, and after all the support that America has provided to the entity, financially, politically and militarily. Nor can we bet that America can change its positions in the future, as the two candidates are experienced, and the two candidates have made their statements during the election campaign period, during which we witnessed great fanaticism and extremism, in continuing to side with and support the entity, and not recognizing the Palestinian right and the necessity of stopping the extermination and holding the occupation government accountable for its crimes. Rather, the two candidates competed to threaten to provide more means of support for the extremist and hateful racism upon which the agenda of the Netanyahu government was built, which is very comfortable, after the American administration provided it with cover to continue its crimes, and to continue its massacres and operations of destruction and devastation, and it is continuing with its policy as long as America is not concerned with stopping the extermination and stopping the operations of ethnic cleansing.

Whether Trump or Harris succeeds, there is no difference in American policy towards our national cause and towards many Middle Eastern issues. Betting that America can change its policies is not something that can be relied upon very much, especially in the foreseeable future, which explains the Palestinian indifference to who will win these elections. Both threaten and promise, both express complete bias towards the entity, both share the same vision, and both are bitter matters.

These days, when the world is preoccupied with the US state elections, the Palestinian is only concerned with his fate in Gaza and the war that has eaten away at him and has not been satisfied. He is holding on to all the strength he has to preserve his land and homeland, and to confront the plans being prepared by the occupation government, which pose an existential threat to him, through policies of nibbling, annexation, Judaization, mass killing, and ethnic cleansing. As for which candidate will succeed, there is no difference because both are two sides of the same coin.

Israeli occupation continues its war in Gaza

The Israeli war of extermination continues in the Gaza Strip, leaving more dead and wounded.

In the latest developments: The occupation warplanes bombed a house belonging to the infant's family, which led to the death of the mother and her three children, noting that her husband is detained in the occupation prisons.

The occupation aircraft also launched an air strike in the vicinity of the western roundabout in the town of Beit Lahia, while the occupation artillery fired its shells at Jabalia and the Beit Lahia project.

A citizen and her son were killed and several others from the Abu Daqqa family were injured as a result of shelling on the town of Al-Fakhari, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Day After to America!

The United States has the right to defend its patent and intellectual property rights for the term “the day after,” which was coined by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his shuttle tours to the region amid the raging war in Gaza, in order to divert attention, cool emotions, and justify silence and waiting for Israel to commit a war of extermination whose chapters are being waged, relentlessly, in the sector, which has been trapped in the holocaust for thirteen months.

The favorite term for Blinken and his old boss remained the "gravel stew" that they stirred up whenever pressure intensified on them, to show the seriousness of their administration in making their efforts fruitful by reaching an imminent end to the war, through abbreviated statements, closer to crossword puzzles, whose purpose was to distract and entertain, until the "subcontractor" finished completing the destructive war.

The handsome diplomat was not honest in his promises, nor even in his feelings that went beyond the coldness of Alaska, as he practiced policies of deception and misleading, even on Congress, whose members accused him of lying, in order to perpetuate the massacre and thwart the truce deal.

With the sharp polarization and intense competition between the two arch rivals Harris and Trump, and the uncertainty over who will win, to the point that the gaps in the polls have narrowed to below the margin of error, all of this indicates that the country is on the brink of division, and that Trump will not swallow the loss “if it is not fair,” as he declared yesterday.

The picture of the “day after” in the United States is shrouded in mystery, and the two traditional rivals, the owners of donkeys and elephants, may need dialogue sessions hosted by Cairo or Doha, to agree on forming a joint committee of technocrats to run the country the day after the elections.

Between the time the newspaper goes to the press and the time it is distributed, some of the class features of the confused American moment will have become clear.

Tomorrow is near.

Stop the war of extermination in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon..!

Trump leads Harris as race nears

The results of the US presidential elections came in on Wednesday morning, showing a remarkable lead for former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump over his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump snatched a valuable victory in two of the seven swing states, Georgia and North Carolina, while the competition is still fierce in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada.

The elections were marked by extreme polarization among the candidates' supporters, and the world's eyes turned to America to find out the identity of the 47th president.

Republicans seized control of the Senate from Democrats for the first time in four years, while the race for the majority of representatives is witnessing a fierce competition.

The voting process witnessed a large turnout, and was not without limited incidents that delayed voting in some crucial districts, whether due to technical failures or false threats.

The initial results showed that Trump's bet on the economy and immigration issues was successful, and that he was able to make a slight breakthrough among women and ethnic minorities in some swing states.

Harris' campaign said it would not address supporters tonight, saying it was working throughout the night to ensure all votes were counted.

Israeli occupation demolishes 7 residential apartments and displaces 32 citizens in the town of Silwan

Today, Tuesday, the Israeli occupation authorities demolished three buildings containing 7 residential apartments in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

32 Jerusalemites, including children and women, from the Ayed, Al-Ruwaidi and Abu Diab families, live in the demolished apartments.

The demolition operations in the neighborhood, which continued from the morning hours until the evening, included the bulldozing of concrete walls and streets leading to homes, in addition to uprooting trees.

Jerusalem affairs researcher Fakhri Abu Diab, one of the owners of the demolished homes, told WAFA that the Israeli occupation "demolished 3 residential buildings owned by my family, and the Al-Ruwaidi and Ayed families, and they include 7 apartments," explaining that what happened is an unprecedented escalation by demolishing 7 homes at once and displacing their residents.

He explained that he did not receive any prior notice of the demolition of his house or the house of his son Mohammed, noting that this is the second time that the occupation authorities have demolished his house since the beginning of this year, after he rebuilt it following the first demolition last February.

Abu Diab pointed out that after today's massacre of house demolitions, there are still 109 houses threatened with demolition in Al-Bustan neighborhood, inhabited by about 1,550 citizens who will become homeless if the policy of mass demolition continues, noting that "the Israeli occupation is targeting Al-Bustan neighborhood to establish a Judaization project on the ruins of our homes, in order to displace us from the city of Jerusalem and Judaize it."

In turn, the Jerusalem Governorate said in a statement that the occupation is exploiting the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip to implement Judaization plans in Jerusalem and the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, with the aim of changing the demographic composition and expanding settlements in the city, in addition to emptying the Al-Bustan neighborhood of its original residents, and imposing a fait accompli that threatens their existence and stability.

The Jerusalem Governorate called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to stop these crimes against the people of Jerusalem, protect their historical and human rights, and stand against the accelerating colonization that threatens their future in the Holy City.

More than 40,000 Jerusalemites have been affected by the demolitions carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities in the Holy City since the start of the comprehensive aggression against our people on October 7, 2023.

According to data issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA) in late October, the occupation authorities demolished 226 homes and facilities in Jerusalem, displacing 621 Palestinians and harming 40,767 others.

OCHA explains that among the demolished facilities were 125 inhabited homes, 28 uninhabited housing units, 39 facilities that help their owners provide a livelihood, and 34 agricultural facilities. As for the reason, most of the facilities were demolished under the pretext of building without obtaining a permit from the occupation authorities, amounting to 218 facilities.

According to OCHA, the demolitions were carried out in 24 towns and neighborhoods in Jerusalem, but were more concentrated in the town of Jabal al-Mukaber, targeting 37 homes and facilities, 21 of which were inhabited, then the town of Silwan, with 31 facilities, 21 of which were inhabited, then the towns of al-Walaja, Beit Hanina, al-Issawiya, and the rest of the towns and neighborhoods of Jerusalem.

These statistics do not include towns in the Jerusalem Governorate, such as Anata and Hizma, which witnessed demolitions, even though they are classified in Area C.

It is noteworthy that the town of Silwan is located one kilometer south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and is inhabited by tens of thousands of Palestinians, who are threatened with forced displacement, as a result of the Israeli occupation targeting the town with Judaization and settlement.

The town, which dates back more than 5,000 years and was the first nucleus of the city of Jerusalem, and which is called the “Guardian of Jerusalem” because it forms a protective arc for the Old City along its southern borders, has been suffering since its occupation in 1967, and half of its neighborhoods are threatened with demolition, under the pretext that it was built on the ruins of the “City of King David,” and other pretexts used by the occupation to seize citizens’ homes, property, and lands for the benefit of the colonists.

A citizen was injured by Israeli occupation forces’ bullets during the ongoing aggression on Tulkarm and Nour Shams camps

Tonight, a citizen was injured by the occupation forces' bullets in Tulkarm camp, as the occupation forces' aggression against the camp and Nour Shams camp east of the city continues.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that its crews dealt with a citizen (63 years old) who was injured by a live bullet in the face.

Two young men were injured by the occupation forces’ bullets in Tulkarm camp, one of them (24 years old) with a bullet in the foot, and the second (19 years old) with a bullet in the hand.

Meanwhile, the occupation forces sent more military reinforcements towards Tulkarm and Nour Shams camps, coinciding with the continuation of their aggression on the city and its camps for 10 hours.

According to local sources, the occupation forces pushed new military vehicles from the western entrance to Tulkarm city, towards the two camps, which are besieged by large numbers of occupation soldiers deployed in their streets and alleys.

She added that the occupation forces deployed their vehicles at all entrances leading to the two camps, imposed a tight siege on them, and deployed their snipers on the roofs of the buildings.

The occupation bulldozers caused great damage to the infrastructure and property of citizens in the two camps, including the destruction of the water networks feeding them, which caused them to be cut off.

The occupation forces also burned a commercial store belonging to the family of the martyr Hussam al-Malah in the middle of Tulkarm camp, who was assassinated by a special force of the occupation army a week ago. This caused suffocation among the citizens due to the thick smoke resulting from the fire.

The occupation bulldozers stormed the neighborhoods of Al-Muqata'a, Qaqoun, Al-Foul, Al-Madaris and Al-Salam in Tulkarm camp, and bulldozed and destroyed the streets and citizens' properties.

In Nour Shams camp, the occupation bulldozers destroyed citizens’ properties, including homes and shops, specifically in Al-Manshiya neighborhood, and burned a shop belonging to Ibrahim Al-Shabrawi in the aforementioned area, which caused a fire to break out inside it and burn it completely, at a time when they began removing the tarpaulins in Al-Shuhada neighborhood in the camp and burning them.

Local sources reported that the fire engine of the Civil Defense in the town of Anabta arrived at the camp, extinguished the fire, and prevented it from spreading to the rest of the neighboring shops.

In addition, the occupation forces raided dozens of citizens' homes in the Al-Manshiya neighborhood in Nour Shams camp, searched them, and turned a number of them into military barracks, subjecting their residents to interrogation and field investigation.

They also arrested the young man Saleh Al-Ghanem from his home in the Al-Masqoufa neighborhood in the Aktaba suburb east of Tulkarm, and severely beat him and blew up his vehicle.

The occupation forces stormed the city this morning with dozens of vehicles and personnel carriers, accompanied by 6 heavy bulldozers, starting from the northern entrance, followed by additional reinforcements from its western, southern and eastern axes.

The occupation forces fired tear gas bombs at citizens, in the vicinity of Al-Younis roundabout in the northern neighborhood of the city.

Military bulldozers razed the infrastructure on Al-Muqata'a Street adjacent to the eastern entrance to Tulkarm camp, the vicinity of the Martyr Saif Abu Labda roundabout, and Nablus Street adjacent to the entrances to Nour Shams camp, amidst the sounds of explosions being heard in these areas.

Earlier, the occupation forces' vehicles and bulldozers roamed the streets of Tulkarm city, obstructing the movement of vehicles and citizens, causing traffic jams in the city's main streets.
