President Mahmoud Abbas welcomes President Trump's announcement to end the war.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed President Trump's announcement to stop the war and proceed with the details, in response to the positive statements from Hamas, which we welcome for the release of all hostages and for dealing positively in this phase that requires everyone to exhibit the highest levels of national responsibility.

His Excellency reiterated his appreciation for the significant efforts made by President Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip and move towards lasting peace, and thanks are extended to the Arab and Islamic countries that are making efforts in this regard (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan).

His Excellency confirmed the readiness of the State of Palestine to engage in constructive work with President Trump from this moment onward, along with all concerned partners, the co-presidency of the international peace conference in New York, the heads of working groups, and the Arab member of the Security Council, Algeria, as well as all Security Council members and members of the General Assembly, to achieve stability and lasting and just peace in accordance with international legitimacy.

The President emphasized, "What matters to us now is the immediate commitment to a complete ceasefire, the release of all hostages and prisoners, the entry of urgent humanitarian aid through United Nations organizations, ensuring no displacement or annexation, and starting the reconstruction process."

In this context, the President stated, "The sovereignty over the Gaza Strip belongs to the State of Palestine, and the connection between the West Bank and Gaza Strip must be made through Palestinian laws and governmental institutions, and by a Palestinian administrative committee and unified Palestinian security forces, within a framework of one system and law, with Arab and international support."

He added, "We will continue to work with mediators and concerned partners to succeed in these efforts, leading to achieving lasting peace that ends the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine and its capital, East Jerusalem."

His Excellency reminded the international community of its responsibility to compel Israel to stop all its unilateral actions that violate international law, foremost among them halting settlement activities, settler terrorism, assaults on holy sites, and withholding Palestinian tax revenues.

His Excellency affirmed that the independent, sovereign Palestinian state is the natural partner for stability in the region alongside the State of Israel, and it is time for a lasting peace that guarantees security and justice for all the peoples of the region.
