The Office of the Prime Minister in Malta announced that the country will officially recognize the State of Palestine today, Monday, during the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York.
Thus, Malta joins the historic wave of recognitions announced by significant Western countries in the past 24 hours, in a coordinated move aimed at reviving the two-state solution.
The Maltese decision follows the announcement by Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal yesterday, Sunday, of their official recognition of the State of Palestine.
Recognizing the State of Palestine is a historic matter, and Malta is committed to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
