US President-elect Donald Trump has selected Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York to serve as US Ambassador to the United Nations.
"Elise is a strong, determined and smart fighter," Trump said in a statement Monday when announcing Stefanik's selection, according to the Associated Press.
Nikki Haley, who ran against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, was among those who held the position during Trump's first term.
