German police said shots were fired in a square in the German city of Munich near the city's Nazi crimes documentation center on Thursday (September 5, 2024), adding that they shot and wounded the suspect.
She stated on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that there are no indications so far of the presence of other suspects or other incidents in the city.
The center, which documents the history of the Nazi dictatorship, is located near the Israeli Consulate General in Munich's Maxvorstadt district.
Earlier, police said a major operation was underway in response to an incident and asked the public to avoid the area in a post on Twitter. A helicopter was deployed to better monitor the situation.
Police said they had increased their presence in the city and asked citizens not to post or share any photos or videos of the operation online.
