Hochstein and Blinken's visits... unnecessary

Rassem Obaidat

After the battle of October 7, 2023, visits by Hochstein, the US envoy to Lebanon, and Blinken, the US Secretary of State, intensified.

These visits come within the framework of the American endeavor to test the pulse under fire, the aim of which is to meet the Israeli conditions for a ceasefire on the Palestinian and Lebanese fronts, and to achieve what Israel failed to achieve through fire and aggression, through political pressures, and employing official Palestinian, Lebanese and Arab pressure forces, in addition to America and Western European countries to achieve these goals. Perhaps Hochstein’s last tour of Lebanon, which came in the shadow of an unprecedented Israeli military escalation with widespread targeting of civilian and health infrastructures and institutions and shelters, indicates that Hochstein wanted this tour to be negotiations under fire, in order to achieve security and political achievements for Israel, at the expense of Lebanese sovereignty, reaching the point of imposing guardianship over Lebanon. The source of Hochstein’s maliciousness, who is Jewish in origin and affiliation, in this is that Resolution 1701 is no longer sufficient, as the situation after this resolution is deteriorating, and therefore there is a need for there to be executive mechanisms, explanations, details and American-Lebanese and American-Israeli guarantees that enable the situation not to escalate, and this means blowing up For Resolution 1701, so that Israel can pass its demands and conditions as part of these guarantees, and what Hochstein wants, who came on his tour in the belief that the resistance had been defeated, broken and retreated after the assassination of its military and security leaders, all the way to its Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and his deputy, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine. Therefore, he came to say that the amendments to the resolution should include giving broader and more comprehensive powers to the international emergency forces "UNIFIL", so that its mission becomes deterrent and inspection, and it has the right to inspect any site it suspects without permission from the Lebanese government or coordination with the Lebanese army, with the withdrawal of Hezbollah forces to the north of the Litani, and the reformulation of the Lebanese political and security system, and the formation of an authority and the election of a president, through the American-Israeli team in Lebanon, and giving Israel the freedom to violate Lebanese airspace, and disarming Hezbollah, as well as for the international emergency forces to be deployed on the Lebanese-Syrian border, and to monitor Lebanon's ports, under the pretext of preventing the smuggling of weapons to Hezbollah and the resistance, not to mention the withdrawal of the "Radwan" forces affiliated with the party to beyond the Litani.

The resistance said that the field has the final say, and that the side related to diplomatic and political issues is handled by the veteran leader Nabih Berri, who clearly told Hochstein that the priority is to cease fire, and then UN Resolution 1701 will be discussed. Lebanon, as a state, government, resistance and people, will not accept any amendments to Resolution 1701, despite the presence of discordant voices in agreement with the American-Israeli proposal, and that Hochstein must go to Netanyahu to come with a clear commitment to this resolution and its implementation, as Israel has violated this resolution in many of its aspects and has not adhered to it. In contrast, Blinken, during his visit to Israel and his meetings with its leaders, which were preceded by Israel escalating its war of genocide, cleansing, siege, starvation and preventing the entry of medicine and fuel into the northern Gaza Strip, wanted to explore the possibility of a temporary truce and exploiting the martyrdom of Sinwar in order to conclude a prisoner exchange deal, even if partial, while discussing the day after the war on the Gaza Strip who will run the Strip as an alternative to Hamas and the resistance.

It is clear that the assassinations of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders did not lead to their collapse, or to their loss of direction, or the disintegration of the command, control, communication and coordination system. Rather, we witnessed in both movements a speed in restoring their internal and organizational situations, and regaining the initiative, despite the heavy losses incurred by the ascension of these leaders, and the moral and emotional effects it had on the resistance’s audience and environment, such that what we are witnessing is the failure of the Israeli ground attack, and what the resistance is showing of ground superiority and unprecedented heroism, embodied in the fighter Ibrahim Haidar, who continued to resist with all calm and steadfastness and directed his weapon at the occupation soldiers and tanks, only to be martyred later when the house he was in was bombed by a warplane.

The resistance on the ground front is confronting any Israeli attempts to breach the border, and sometimes allowing Israeli forces to penetrate and then attack them with guided missiles and shells, or engage from point zero. The total Israeli losses on the five combat axes, according to what was issued on Wednesday by the joint resistance operations room during the 33 days of the ground war, amounted to the killing of 70 soldiers and officers and the wounding of 600 others, and the destruction of 28 tanks, 4 heavy bulldozers, an armored vehicle, and an armored personnel carrier. This does not include Israeli losses in bases, barracks, and settlements along the front.

Moreover, we found that the resistance was able to achieve a balance of fire, as it launches its various types of short, medium and long-range missiles, continuously and continuously, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, the occupied Golan Heights, the upper and lower Galilee, reaching Tiberias and Acre, as well as its swarms of suicide drones that penetrate all layers and systems of interception and air defense, and even reach Prime Minister Netanyahu’s bedroom, not to mention targeting the “Binyamina” base southeast of Haifa, in which 4 soldiers were killed and 67 others were wounded. Let us not forget the bombing of the “Satilla Maris” naval base with strategic Nasr 2 missiles in northwest Haifa, and the “8200” Galileo intelligence base in eastern Haifa, as well as the bombing of the Gush Dan area with long-range missiles.

Meanwhile, on the Gaza Strip front, specifically in the northern Gaza Strip front, to which the occupation army returned for the third time, each time claiming that it had eliminated the military and armament capabilities of the resistance, we find that the resistance quickly returns to those areas, and restores its military, armament and organisational situation, and records unprecedented heroism in confronting the occupation army and its forces, engaging with it from point zero, setting up ambushes and explosive devices for the houses in which the occupation army is fortified, not to mention targeting its soldiers and tanks with “Yassin 105”, “Tandem”, “Rajum” and “Shawaz” shells, and being able to kill the highest-ranking Israeli military officer, the commander of the 401st Brigade, and injure a number of his assistants.

It is clear that Israel's predicament is deepening in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and the war is heading towards a long-term war of attrition that the occupation army cannot bear, as it is not accustomed to such wars, and did not build its strategy and military doctrine on that. Therefore, we find the owner of the idea of the generals' plan to control the northern Gaza Strip, former head of the National Security Council Giora Eiland, calling for a halt to the war and withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, because it will not achieve the goals even after six months or a year, but rather will drown the occupation army in a long war of attrition, while military analyst Amos Harel in the Israeli newspaper "Maariv" says that Hezbollah has succeeded in disrupting public life in the north, and imposing a routine of entering shelters in the center.

Therefore, the tours of Hochstein and Blinken will only reap miserable failure, as both of them start from the defeat of Hezbollah and Hamas, which are required to be crushed, eliminated, and conditions of surrender imposed on them, which will enable Israel to provide security in the strategic term, and guarantee its hegemony and control over the region, as an advanced base for American and Western interests in the region. The reality on the ground says that they have regained the initiative and deterrence equations, and will not enable Israel to achieve its goals, but rather deepen Israel’s weakness and strategic failure. In contrast, Netanyahu and his government are not enthusiastic about what the visitors bring, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the team and envoys of the new American administration. The Palestinians do not trust America and its envoys, and do not expect anything useful from it. Therefore, the tours of Hochstein and Blinken become unnecessary, and they come at wasted time.

The Israeli killing machine continues without deterrence or consequences

Sari Al Qudweh

Israel, the occupying power, continues to commit genocide in the Gaza Strip before the eyes of the world. There are more than 470,000 people in the northern Gaza Strip who are at risk of the ongoing massacre, in addition to hundreds of thousands more who are at risk as the Israeli killing machine continues without deterrence or consequences, especially in light of the extremist Israeli government’s attempt to implement what is known as the “Generals’ Plan,” which the occupation forces are working to implement with the aim of completing the forced transfer of the Palestinian civilian population and annexing the area.

The occupying power is depriving the Palestinian population in northern Gaza of food, water, medicine and everything necessary for human life, in addition to systematically targeting hospitals, thus depriving the civilian population of health care, and Israel is forcibly demanding that families move again against their will to southern Gaza, despite there being no safe place to go.

What is happening in the northern Gaza Strip has become beyond description after the exacerbation of human suffering, and the use of starvation and siege is a decline in values. We must act and work on the necessity of providing a safe passage for the entry of humanitarian aid immediately, enabling access to the bodies of the martyrs lying in the streets, and treating the wounded whom medical teams were unable to reach.

All this destruction and brutal, barbaric aggression targeting children and women, especially in the northern Gaza Strip, cannot continue. What is happening in northern Gaza is hell beyond description, as the bombing, massacres, killing of children, assaults on women, and executions of dozens of innocent people continue without mercy.

Keeping silent on these crimes means giving the green light for the continuation of violations, and all active free forces and international organizations are required to stop issuing slogans and move to take a firm position to end the siege, stop the terrorist aggression, and ensure the protection of civilians in accordance with international and humanitarian law.

The Gaza Strip is going through an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and disaster, as the majority of the population, especially children and the elderly, are suffering from famine and diseases as a result of the stifling blockade. Unfortunately, the international community is still unable to take any position despite all the warnings about these criminal plans and appeals to take action to stop this genocide. However, the Security Council is still unable to act in the face of the blatant war crimes and crimes against humanity that Israel is systematically committing, which encourages it to move forward without any regard for international law or human life.

There is a need to put an end to the collective punishment of the Palestinian people in northern Gaza, and to protect them from the genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza and the rest of occupied Palestine, including East Jerusalem, before it is too late, and to emphasize the need for the Security Council to act in accordance with all the powers it enjoys under the United Nations Charter, and to protect civilians and save the international legal system that Israel is deliberately working to destroy.

The UN Security Council is required to immediately take practical steps to implement an immediate ceasefire and ensure compliance by all parties, stop the forced transfer and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, and ensure the provision of immediate, unhindered and broad-based humanitarian assistance through UNRWA and international institutions.

"We will defeat them even if God is with them" Netanyahu challenges again

Samah Khalifa

Samah Khalifa

Netanyahu challenges God again, in his latest statement, saying, “We will defeat them even if God is with them.” This challenge began in 2015, when he desecrated Al-Aqsa Mosque and herds of settlers, and ordered the killing of every Palestinian who stood in the way of the occupation, even if he said, “God is Great.”

Netanyahu's arrogance and haughtiness are nothing but an indication of his psychological sense of defeat. If Netanyahu truly felt victorious, he would have said, "God is with us," as is the custom of their constant claims that they are "God's chosen people." Netanyahu's belief that he is on a "divine mission" to protect the Jewish people requires igniting a comprehensive war in the region, which has no limits in Israeli plans on the map of reality.

It seems that Netanyahu, in his “existential war,” has only read one side of history, ignoring the other side. He is an extension of the tyrants throughout history, from Nimrod to Pharaoh, passing through Qarun, Aad, Thamud, and other tyrants who defied God. God showed us the wonders of His power in them, and He will show us, with His permission, the wonders of His power in Netanyahu and those like him who followed in their footsteps.

Between the "blessing" map and the "curse" map that Netanyahu presented at the United Nations, Israel has so far only achieved criminal genocide, and continues to receive painful blows at the hands of the resistance every day, whether in Gaza or Lebanon. In Gaza, the resistance is still healthy, targeting the enemy with the best morale and capabilities. This is clear after the scenes presented by the resistance showing an Israeli infantry force being ambushed in a house in the Turkish Hawuz area, west of the Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip, by booby-trapping the house with a "GBU" missile, which is a remnant of the Israeli occupation army in its aggression on the Gaza Strip.

As for Lebanon, the battle seems decisive for both sides, and Israel's defeat in the south is clear so far, as it has not advanced a kilometer in more than three weeks, and has not captured a single village.

However, the decision to strike the Iranian nuclear program militarily remains in place, similar to the destruction of the nuclear reactor in Iraq in 1981 and the Syrian reactor in 2007, because Netanyahu, who works with a policy of “strike first and then contain differences with America,” sees himself as the savior god who is not surrounded by power, and who must move forward in achieving what he began in 2010 by targeting the program through cyber attacks, as happened in the famous “Stuxnet” attack, but this time actually militarily on the ground.

From our point of view, we try to see with balance and wisdom, so that we are not among the desperate who see only Israeli hegemony and superiority supported by American and Western power, nor among the holy dreamers of the myths of resistance who see only the achievements of the resistance and the imminent collapse of the Zionist project. Rather, in addition to acknowledging the Israeli-American scientific, technological and military superiority, we cannot acknowledge the inevitability of fate with an eternal reality that Israel has a firm grip on, and ignore the course of history that does not know the sovereignty of one power forever, but rather reminds us of the fate of every tyrant who stands as an equal to God. Therefore, we will not surrender to the logic and power of the usurping aggressor, by saying that our miserable conditions and our scientific and technological backwardness will continue for generations to come. Rather, we must always learn lessons and morals, and realize the reasons for our weakness, backwardness and failure, and at the same time hold on to hope for the future, as much as we hold on to the fact that truth and justice are on our side.

This does not mean that we must witness radical changes in our generation or in the next few years, but the days are cycles, and victory must be on the side of the resistance because it possesses the right and the determination to defend its land and homeland, and the agents and accomplices will inevitably lose their bet.

Three journalists killed in Israeli raid on their residence in southern Lebanon

The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced today, Friday, the martyrdom of three journalists and the injury of a number of others, as a result of an airstrike launched by the Israeli occupation forces on their residence in Hasbaya, southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Press Editors Syndicate condemned in a statement the "horrific massacre committed by Israel in Hasbaya by targeting three journalists in their residence with an airstrike."

She called for the broadest condemnation of what journalists and media professionals are being subjected to, and raising the voice against Israel's persistence in targeting them, disregarding all laws, charters and norms that prohibit it from targeting them.

Galant's threat and promise to Iran... a fatal blow that prevents another counterattack!

Dr. Bishara Bahbah: Israeli threats against Iran are unrealistic and may ignite a broad regional conflict

Dr. Kholoud Al-Obaidi: Galant's statements are a threat to expand the scope of the war and a message to the world, including Russia

Muhammad Al-Halsah: Israel adopts a new strategy based on trying to break its opponents with excess force

Wadih Awawdeh: Military escalation with Iran to lure America in the hope of success that will engineer the memory of the Israelis

Dr. Ramzi Odeh: The strike will be strong, comprehensive and fast, and I do not think it will include nuclear or oil facilities.

During his visit to an Israeli air base the day before yesterday, the Minister of the Occupation Army, Yoav Galant, made statements that carried a clear threat to launch a strong strike against Iran. Addressing the pilots and technical crews at the Hatzor Air Base, which specializes in operating drones, defensive missiles, and air patrols, he said: “Everyone will realize our strength after we attack Iran, and everyone will understand what you did in the preparation and training process.”

In separate interviews with “I”, writers and political analysts considered these statements to be an explicit threat of Israel’s intention to launch a strong and comprehensive strike against Iran, as soon as possible, and that Israel is trying to expand the scope of the war and drag the United States into a direct confrontation. Other analysts considered that these statements do not represent a real threat, and that Israel will not be able to deal with Iran as it dealt with Gaza or Lebanon.

Regarding the objectives of the expected strike on Iran, a number of analysts who met with “I” expected that Israel would target Iranian nuclear and oil facilities, while warning at the same time of the possibility that Iran would respond in that case by targeting oil facilities in neighboring Arab countries, which could ignite a large-scale regional conflict that could lead to a third world war.

Israel will not be able to deal with Iran like Gaza or Lebanon

Dr. Bishara Bahbah, a specialist in American and Middle Eastern affairs and former deputy director of the Middle East Institute at Harvard University, told “Y”: Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant continues his threats against Iran with the aim of deterring it from providing support to its allied forces in the ongoing war with Israel, considering that these statements do not constitute a real threat.

Bahbah pointed out that Israel will not be able to deal with Iran as it dealt with Gaza or Lebanon.

He added: Iran has strong strategic depth, thanks to the mountains and tunnels, in addition to its military capabilities, which makes its response to any Israeli attack completely different.

However, he pointed out that Israel seeks to strike Iranian nuclear facilities and oil fields, and there may be an intention to target Iranian leaders as well.

Dr. Bahbah warned that any Israeli attack on Iran could prompt Iran to target oil facilities in neighboring Arab countries, which could ignite a large-scale regional conflict that could lead to World War III.

Biden administration will not allow Israeli attack before elections

He pointed out that the Biden administration will not allow Israel to launch an attack on Iran, especially in light of the current US electoral climate, explaining at the same time that the Biden administration does not want any military confrontations to break out before the US elections, because the rise in oil prices in the United States may lead to a decline in support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the electoral race.

In contrast, Bahbah said that former President Donald Trump repeatedly stressed that he does not prefer any war to take place in the Middle East, even if it was against Iran.

Bahbah also pointed out that the US elections play a decisive role in the current scene, noting that support for Harris has declined in some states, such as Michigan, which has a strong Arab presence sympathetic to the Lebanese people.

Relive the Cold War

Dr. Kholoud Al-Obaidi, a specialist in political science and international law, considered the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, in which he said: “The world will know Israel’s strength after it strikes Iran,” to be a clear threat to expand the scope of the war.

Al-Obaidi pointed out that Galant is not addressing Iran alone, but is directing his message to the world, including Russia, stressing that this approach returns the atmosphere to the Cold War period and deterrence based on military force.

Al-Obaidi explained to “I” that “deterrence in this context is not limited to the nuclear program, or the threat of using nuclear weapons, but extends to an arms race that includes advanced missiles, defense systems, and intelligence technologies.”

US concerns over Iran-Russia military cooperation

She stressed that the United States and Israel are increasingly concerned about military cooperation between Iran and Russia, especially in the exchange of military technology.

Al-Obaidi also pointed out that there are reports indicating that Russia has provided Iran with advanced ballistic weapons and air defense systems, while Iran has provided Russia with drones that were used to strike Ukrainian sites, which enhances military cooperation between the two countries, and this cooperation may develop into an integrated defense partnership.

Al-Obaidi stated that "Israel has lost much of the credibility of its military superiority since the events of October 7, 2023, and that the operations it has recently carried out can be classified as intelligence successes rather than military ones. Therefore, the threat issued by Galant indicates Israel's intention to carry out a direct military operation."

The expected strike will rely mainly on air power.

She also pointed out that Galant's statements came during his visit to a military air base, which reinforces the idea that the expected strike will rely mainly on air power, and may include the use of missiles to hit targets inside Iran. Despite the passage of a year since the war, Israel is still unable to decide it definitively.

She pointed out that Galant's statement came after his meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, as both of them represent two regimes facing major challenges.

Al-Obaidi considered that Blinken's visit to Israel came to support the Democratic Party in the United States of America, which is facing difficult elections, wondering about the nature of the requests that Blinken presented to Galant, suggesting that the main goal was to reassure the American voter about the expected strike against Iran, to ensure reassurance to the American voter of the ability of Washington's allies in the Middle East and Europe, with the aim of influencing the results of the upcoming US presidential elections in the swing states.

A new Israeli strategy after October 7

Political analyst Muhammad Al-Halsa explains to “I” that Israel, which previously focused on managing security challenges with its opponents, is now moving towards trying to resolve these challenges by breaking its opponents using the surplus firepower, technology and intelligence it possesses.

Al-Halsa added: Israel believes that this new approach, based on the use of brute force, will enable it to restore its prestige and deterrence capacity that was shaken after the events of October 7.

He pointed out that before those events, Israel relied on a policy of "deterrence by prevention", which is based on frightening its opponents of the consequences of attacking it, but this principle was severely damaged after the recent events.

Al-Halsa explained that Israel is currently seeking to enhance the image of its deterrence capability through the logic of destructive force, with the aim of sending a clear message to its opponents that any future attack on it will be met with dire consequences.

Competition between political and military leaders in Israel

In light of its inability to achieve a clear military solution with what it calls "Iran's allies," Al-Halsa indicated that Israel may resort to striking the head - Iran - in the hope that this will lead to the retreat of its allies in Palestine and Lebanon.

Al-Halsa pointed out that Galant's statements also reflect competition between the political and military leadership in Israel, and an attempt to reassure Israeli society that the state is still capable of deterrence, despite the ongoing challenges on various fronts.

Netanyahu escalates with Iran to lure America into direct confrontation

Israeli affairs expert Wadih Awawdeh told Al-Monitor: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to escalate the crisis with Iran with the aim of luring the United States into a direct military confrontation.

Awawdeh explained that Netanyahu is relying on increasing tension with Iran to achieve internal political gains as well, in light of the escalating competition between him and his Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, over who will appear as the most decisive and powerful leader in the face of Iranian threats.

Publishing photos of damage to Netanyahu's home to mobilize against Iran

He considered that Israel's permission to publish photos of damage to Netanyahu's home in Caesarea is part of the justification and mobilization of international legitimacy to target Iran, pointing out that Netanyahu wants to exploit the current tension with Iran by launching a major military strike targeting Iranian nuclear or economic facilities, in order to lure the United States into participating in the escalation. By striking Iran, Netanyahu hopes to catch more than one bird; an attempt to seize a valuable strategic catch that will relieve Israel of an external threat that he has always warned about, and at the same time enable him to re-engineer the memory and awareness of Israelis.

Awawdeh said that this step comes at a critical time, as the administration of US President Joe Biden faces internal challenges as the presidential elections approach, and any major escalation in the Middle East could negatively affect the position of Vice President Kamala Harris in the elections, especially if it leads to a rise in oil prices.

Netanyahu's quest to bolster his personal political standing

Awawdeh stressed that “Netanyahu seeks to exploit this crisis to strengthen his personal political position, in light of the widespread criticism he has been subjected to after the surprise attack carried out by the Palestinian resistance on October 7. Despite his tactical successes in Lebanon, Gaza and assassinations, opinion polls indicate that his popularity is still declining, and that he faces major challenges that may prevent him from forming a future government if early elections are held or even on schedule in 2026.”

Awawdeh added: Netanyahu realizes that the popular anger in Israel towards him as a result of the intelligence and strategic failure in dealing with the October 7 attack will not go away easily, and therefore he needs to achieve a "major victory" against Iran to improve his domestic position.

Netanyahu and Trump's desire to escalate with Iran

He pointed out that there is a common desire between Netanyahu and former US President Donald Trump to escalate the situation with Iran, as this step serves Trump's interests, who seeks to weaken the position of the Democrats in the upcoming elections.

Despite the attempts of the current US administration led by Biden to calm the situation and prevent escalation, Awawdeh believes that Netanyahu is determined to implement his plan, believing that this may be the last opportunity to achieve a "historic victory" and restore his declining popularity.

A strong blow to maintain the Israeli deterrence image

Dr. Ramzi Odeh, Secretary-General of the International Academic Campaign Against Occupation and Apartheid, confirmed to “Haaretz” that Galant’s statements about the expected response to Iran indicate Israel’s intention to carry out a strong strike to maintain the image of deterrence that Israel has worked to build for decades.

However, Awda pointed out that this image has deteriorated significantly after the events of October 7, which makes Galant's statements should be taken seriously.

Awda added that the expected Israeli response will be comprehensive and rapid, by striking dozens of Iranian military sites in a short period of time. He explained that the strike may include several areas in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and may include airdrops by special commando forces to target sensitive sites.

Although Galant's statements were strong and strict, Awda indicated that the Israeli strike is not expected to include any nuclear sites or oil facilities.

He attributed this to the danger of targeting such sites on regional security, and the major repercussions that could result, affecting the entire region.

"The Generals' Plan"... Revenge and Extermination by Fire to Resettle

Dr. Dalal Erekat: Israel aims to evacuate the land of its inhabitants to annex it to the colonial settlement project

Khalil Shaheen: The war is pushing towards achieving a long-term Israeli plan for demographic engineering in Gaza

Suleiman Basharat: Israel seeks to undermine the original identity of the Strip and create a new model for Palestinian presence there

Dr. Abdul Majeed Suwailem: The occupation government is trying to cut off a large part of the Gaza Strip to blackmail the world in any future settlement

Nihad Abu Ghosh: The plan may succeed if international silence continues.. and what stands in its way is steadfastness on the ground

In light of the rapid field developments in the Gaza Strip, especially with the Israeli occupation forces implementing the so-called "Generals' Plan" in the northern Gaza Strip, several questions arise about the future of the Strip in light of the plans being implemented to eradicate the northern areas and expand the Netzarim corridor south of Gaza City, amid fears of the return of settlement and control over Gaza's wealth.

In separate interviews with “I”, writers, political analysts and university professors believe that this plan and its goals come in conjunction with increasing calls for resettlement in some areas adjacent to the Strip, which places the fate of Gaza before new challenges and raises increasing fears of radical changes in the geographical, demographic and political map of the Strip.

They point out that these military operations also aim to reduce the population of Gaza through forced or voluntary displacement, taking advantage of the extent of the destruction they cause to infrastructure and housing.

They point out that these acts of destruction are not random, but rather come as part of a long-term plan to reshape the demographic composition of the Strip, which will contribute to facilitating Israeli control over specific areas and transforming Gaza into an area with a lower population density.

In addition to these demographic goals, according to writers, analysts and university professors, Israel seeks to strengthen its economic dominance by controlling Gaza’s wealth, especially the newly discovered gas resources off its coast, as part of a broader plan to control gas resources in the eastern Mediterranean, which would strengthen Israel’s position as a major energy source in the region and open the door to old and new settlement projects in the Strip.

They explain that Israel seeks to re-impose its administration on parts of Gaza, or to establish local government areas under direct or indirect Israeli supervision, but they believe that everything Israel plans may clash with the steadfastness of the resistance, and the growing regional and international positions opposing these plans, but the future of Gaza remains dependent on the political and military balances in the region.

The eradication of resistance was a pretext for displacement and settlement.

Dr. Dalal Erekat, Professor of Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution at the Arab American University, confirms that Israeli policies towards the Gaza Strip, one year after the genocide, prove to the world that Israel is not targeting Hamas alone, but rather a comprehensive colonial settlement project that aims to annex what remains of Palestinian land.

Erekat points out that the strategy pursued by the far-right government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, and what was leaked on October 13, reveals an Israeli military and intelligence plan that seeks to displace the residents of Gaza, whether voluntarily or forcibly, to Sinai, with the aim of emptying the land of its inhabitants in preparation for annexing it to the Israeli settlement project.

Erekat explains that this plan is not new, but rather part of the completion of the colonial project that Israel has long sought, as Erekat believes that Netanyahu and his extremist government are seeking to achieve this strategy by all possible means.

Erekat believes that the next phase may witness more settlement or an Israeli civil administration to rule Gaza, noting that Israel's greatest goal is not to eliminate Hamas, but to control the land and displace its population.

Erekat points out that all the practices of genocide, starvation and siege, in addition to avoiding any international trial or punishment for these crimes, serve this strategic goal.

Working to completely separate Gaza from the West Bank

Erekat warns that Israel is working to completely separate the Gaza Strip from the West Bank, which represents a direct threat to the right of self-determination of the Palestinian people, as well as the possibility of establishing a separate state in Gaza, separate from the West Bank.

Erekat considers this a major threat to the unity of the Palestinian territory, noting that there are scenarios for establishing a government under international or regional supervision in Gaza, which will strengthen Israel's control over the West Bank and weaken the possibility of establishing an integrated Palestinian state that combines the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

On the other hand, Erekat explains that eradicating the resistance was the main pretext that Israel relied on at the beginning of the war on Gaza, but the situation developed into a comprehensive crime of genocide targeting the Palestinian people in all their spectrums.

Erekat points out that the Israeli military operations use all kinds of force and military equipment, including missiles, to destroy everything humane in Gaza.

Erekat also believes that many of the analyses that linked the October 7 attack to an attempt to obstruct normalization agreements between Israel and some Arab countries were not successful.

Erekat explains that the attack has postponed these agreements, but has not prevented them completely, and that they are likely to return to the forefront at any time, especially if stopping the Palestinian bloodshed in the Gaza Strip is offered as the price for these agreements.

Reducing the area of the sector and reducing its population

Writer and political analyst Khalil Shaheen explains that the war on the Gaza Strip, from the perspective of Israeli military and political strategies, can be explained by referring to the statements of the head of the Israeli National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, in October 2023, days after the outbreak of the war.

According to Shaheen, Hanegbi pointed to the uncertainty about the outcome of the war on the Gaza Strip, but he emphasized two basic goals: reducing the area of the Gaza Strip, and reducing its population.

Shaheen believes that these statements, despite not being officially announced, highlight the real Israeli goals, which go beyond eliminating Hamas’s military capabilities and governance in Gaza and recovering the Israeli detainees, to what can be described as “demographic engineering” of the Strip.

Shaheen points out that this engineering is carried out through the widespread destruction of infrastructure, housing and institutions in Gaza, which leads to the displacement of residents from their areas.

According to Shaheen, Israel's intentions are clear through imposing military control over parts of the Gaza Strip, including the Netzarim axis in the center and the Philadelphi axis on the border with Egypt, in addition to the border strip from north to south of the Strip, which could amount to control over about a quarter of Gaza's area.

These military operations, according to the point of view of writer and political analyst Khalil Shaheen, aim to push the residents of Gaza either to forced displacement or voluntary migration in the future, given that the Strip, due to the war, has become an uninhabitable area and lacks the minimum necessities of life.

Shaheen believes that the war on the Gaza Strip is pushing towards achieving a long-term plan for demographic engineering in Gaza, by reducing the population and turning the Strip into an area with a lower population density.

Shahin cites the expansion of the Netzarim Corridor and the Philadelphi Corridor as indications of Israel's intentions to stay in the Strip for the long haul.

A bigger plan than the "generals' plan" to empty northern Gaza

Shaheen points out that the ongoing Israeli military operations in northern Gaza go beyond the “generals’ plan” proposed by General Yigal Eiland, which aimed to displace the population from northern Gaza towards the south. The extent of the destruction in Jabalia, Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun and elsewhere reflects the seriousness of what is happening, as shelters are being destroyed and burned to further prevent the population from returning to those areas.

Shaheen sees these measures as part of a larger plan to empty northern Gaza, where Israeli military operations are being carried out without a clear explanation of the ultimate goal, but he suggests that Israel may be implementing a mix of circulating military plans, including the ideas of the occupation’s Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, regarding the creation of pocket areas in the northern Gaza Strip to bring in and distribute aid in a way that would divide the population and manage these areas through individuals or local gangs.

Shaheen believes that there is a growing trend within the Israeli government to return settlement to the Gaza Strip, especially after the statements of ministers such as Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir, who held a preparatory conference for settlement in the Strip.

Shaheen believes that Netanyahu, despite leaving the door open to different interpretations, is paving the way for a partial occupation of the Gaza Strip and the continuation of military operations that may eventually lead to the re-settlement of some areas of the Strip, especially the north.

Shaheen warns that the worst-case scenario could come true if the Israeli military occupation of Gaza continues, either through direct administration or through the establishment of local administrations similar to the village associations or the civil administration in the West Bank.

Shaheen points out that this plan, as warned by leaders in the occupation army, will involve Israel in directly managing Gaza, which will increase the burdens without achieving the declared goals such as eliminating Hamas or recovering the Israeli detainees.

Steadfastness in the face of occupation and settlement plans

Shaheen points out that the Palestinian resistance and regional and international positions may obstruct these plans, stressing the importance of the steadfastness of the people of Gaza in the face of forced displacement attempts. He also notes that if the Palestinian factions reach a consensual and comprehensive vision to establish participatory governance structures in Gaza linked to the West Bank, this will enhance regional and international support for the Palestinians.

Shaheen expects that the continuation of the Israeli military occupation of the Gaza Strip may open the door to new settlements in the Strip, but Shaheen, on the other hand, points out that the positions of regional and international parties, especially the US administration, may play a role in preventing the implementation of this plan, in addition to the steadfastness of the Lebanese resistance on the northern front, which may affect the course of the war in Gaza, and therefore the occupation’s plans are not fate.

Israeli goals

Writer and political analyst Suleiman Basharat points out the main goals that Israel seeks to achieve through its military operations in the northern Gaza Strip, which are to create a new model for Palestinian presence in the Strip by establishing a residential neighborhood according to the Israeli vision that can be controlled through a local authority.

Basharat believes that the success of this model will enhance Israel’s ability to apply it to the entire Gaza Strip, allowing it to achieve its goals in the war, as the primary goal, according to this vision, is to reshape the demographic, geographical, political and administrative reality of the Strip, in a manner consistent with what Israel calls “the day after the war.”

Contracting with American security companies to implement the plan

Basharat points out that there is an Israeli military plan based on the vision of Israeli generals, which talks about contracting with American security companies to contribute to implementing this plan, which includes redistributing the Palestinian population from their usual places, with the aim of erasing the population identity and the citizens’ connection to their lands, and this would undermine the original identity of the sector.

Basharat points out that if the plan succeeds in bringing about this demographic change, Israel will rebuild the damaged areas using new engineering and architectural methods, giving the areas a new geographical identity that is completely different from their previous state.

Basharat points out that this Israeli plan imagines the Gaza Strip as geographically separate cantons, each with a different administrative authority, such as a mukhtar or head of a local council, which leads to the destruction of the structural and administrative cohesion of Palestinian society in the Strip.

Basharat believes that this scenario is similar to the geographical and demographic fragmentation that the West Bank is experiencing, where the separation between the governorates has weakened the Palestinian political entity and transformed each governorate into a separate unit with its own concerns.

Basharat believes that this demographic fragmentation is reinforced by the Israeli settlement plan in the Gaza Strip, which aims to dismantle the geographical and demographic structure of the Strip, while Israel justifies its military presence in these areas under the pretext of providing security for the settlers. If this plan is not implemented directly by Israel, Israel may accept an international presence that contributes to controlling some of the buffer zones and implementing settlement projects, while keeping Israel as the main reference in all political, administrative and security aspects.

Control of the sector's wealth

Basharat asserts that the ostensible goal of the Israeli military operation is to eradicate the resistance, but there are other goals related to reshaping the demographic and geographical structure of Gaza, as well as controlling the economic dimension of the Strip, including the newly discovered Palestinian gas resources off the coast of Gaza.

Basharat points out that the success of this plan will allow Israel to control the gas wealth in the eastern Mediterranean, from the coast of Gaza to the coast of Lebanon, which will strengthen its position as a major source of natural gas in the region.

Three scenarios for the future

As for future scenarios, Basharat believes that the current situation is unstable due to the continuation of the war and the lack of clarity in the American political scene in light of the upcoming elections. In addition, the possibility of a confrontation with Iran, as well as the northern front or through a broader escalation, still exists.

Basharat sets out three main scenarios for the future: the continuation of the current conflict in the region, the intervention of the US administration after the elections to impose a ceasefire and move towards a political path, or the situation deteriorating and the region entering a comprehensive regional war in which Iran and Hezbollah participate.

Basharat points out that the success of any of these scenarios depends largely on the ability of the Palestinian resistance and the resistance axis in general to shock the Israeli perception and force it to back down from its plans.

Israel is trying to cut off part of Gaza to blackmail the world

Writer and political analyst Dr. Abdul Majeed Suwailem believes that Israel's military operations and genocide in the Gaza Strip aim to cut off a large part of the Strip, and perhaps more than that, in an attempt to blackmail the international community in any future settlement.

Suwailem explains that Israel seeks, through these military operations and movements in the field, to impose its conditions on the world, pointing out that what is happening will lead to the forced displacement of the population from the Strip as a result of the great pressures that Gaza is exposed to, including the demolition of homes and control of lands, which will push the population to emigrate.

Suwailem believes that Israel may use the reconstruction issue as a tool for blackmail after it destroyed everything related to life in Gaza, stressing that controlling the reconstruction process will be among the Israeli means of pressure.

Suwailem points out that if Israel is forced to withdraw from Gaza, it will try to impose conditions that guarantee its continued control over the Strip, regardless of the names, titles, or tools that may be used to formulate its conditions, whether they are “generals” or others.

Israel suffers defeat

Suwailem points out that Israel is suffering from defeat, and that talk about it being “fate” is incorrect, as Israel is now trying to maneuver so as not to admit defeat, but it will face more crises, and may eventually be forced to leave Gaza without any conditions.

According to Suwailem, since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 until today, Israel has been trying hard to achieve any victory that would get it out of the crisis it is experiencing. However, all the attempts to kill and starve the people of Gaza have not achieved their goal of eradicating the resistance. On the contrary, the number of resistance fighters in the Gaza Strip today is greater than it was at the beginning of the war, stressing that the resistance has not been eradicated, but rather has grown stronger.

The "day after war" will be difficult and complicated.

Regarding the future of the sector after the war, Suwailem confirms that the day after the war in Gaza will be difficult and complicated, but it will be more difficult and complicated for Israel, as it will become clear that the occupation army has already been defeated.

Suwailem calls for staying away from Israeli propaganda that promotes the defeat of the Palestinians, stressing that Israel is in a very difficult situation.

Suwailem asserts that the future of Gaza after the war will be purely Palestinian, and that the will of the Palestinian people, who have made great sacrifices for the sake of freedom, cannot be broken.

Suwailem stresses that any state, whether from within the region or outside it, that stands against the will of the Palestinian people will pay a heavy price and lose a lot in the long run.

The future of Gaza is decided by the steadfastness of the Palestinians

Writer and political analyst Nihad Abu Ghosh points out that the so-called Israeli “Generals’ Plan” is being implemented in the northern Gaza Strip, although it has not been officially announced as a war crime. However, it is being implemented practically on the ground without any official announcement from Israel.

Abu Ghosh believes that the main goal of this plan is to displace the residents of northern Gaza and seize Palestinian lands, in an attempt to hurt the Palestinians and force them to pay a heavy price for what happened on October 7.

Abu Ghosh points out that this plan may succeed if international silence continues and the world ignores what is happening, but what stands in the way of its implementation is the steadfastness of the citizens and the Palestinian resistance on the ground.

Despite this heroic steadfastness, Abu Ghosh raises a question about the ability of this steadfastness to continue in light of the increasing volume of Israeli crimes.

Regarding Israeli settlement in the Gaza Strip, Abu Ghosh believes that this project receives official support, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is fully aware that these measures constitute a flagrant violation of international law. Nevertheless, Netanyahu is counting on the passage of time and on the world’s acceptance of the reality over time, as he hopes that the international community will adapt to these moves over time.

Abu Ghosh points out that Israel realizes that crimes fuel resistance instead of extinguishing it, so civilians are deliberately targeted in these military operations, with goals that go beyond eradicating resistance, which is impossible to achieve as an achievable goal, and Israel knows very well that its policies fuel resistance even more.

Abu Ghosh believes that the future of Gaza will not be decided by Israeli desires, but rather the future will be decided on the ground through the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinians.

Abu Ghosh stresses that the future of Gaza will be Palestinian, but this requires strengthening the steadfastness of the citizens and the resistance, and attracting real international support for the Palestinians.

Abu Ghosh points out that Israel is not an inevitable fate for the Palestinians, and that the will of the Palestinian people is sufficient to thwart Israeli plans.

"Al-Quds" publishes the late Sinwar’s wills to the fighters and details in his handwriting about Israeli detainees

Top Secret

"Al-Quds" publishes Sinwar's wills to the fighters and details in his handwriting about the detainees

# “and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom.” Verse No. 4 of “Surat Muhammad”

# " Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and set free the captives.".” Hadith

# “Whatever is necessary for a duty to be fulfilled is itself a duty” is a fundamental principle.

# The duty of releasing our prisoners is not fulfilled except by guarding the enemy’s prisoners, and the reward for their release is recorded for the benefit of the Mujahideen.

"Al-Quds" obtained three documents in the handwriting of the late Yahya Sinwar, head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, which included directives to the movement's fighters to secure the Israeli detainees, the names of eleven detainees, and scattered numbers about their numbers, genders, and ages.

Al-Sinwar began the first document, which was written on note paper headed by Al-Arqam Commercial Printing Company, with verse 4 of Surat Muhammad, which states: “and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom.” According to the interpretation references, this means: “So if you capture them after inflicting heavy casualties, then either you grant them a favor afterwards by releasing them from captivity and freeing them without compensation or ransom, or they ransom you by giving you from themselves in exchange until you release them and clear the way for them.”

Al-Sinwar followed the noble verse with a prophetic hadith that says: “Visit the sick, feed the hungry, and free the captive.” Captive means prisoner.

Al-Sinwar urged the Hamas fighters concerned with these directives to “take care of the lives of the enemy’s prisoners and secure them, considering them a pressure card in our hands,” relying on the rule that says: “Whatever duty is not fulfilled without is a duty,” which is a fundamental rule, not a jurisprudential rule, and is called the introduction to duty.

He added, explaining his words: “The duty of releasing our prisoners can only be accomplished by guarding the enemy’s prisoners, and the reward for liberating the prisoners is recorded for the benefit of the mujahideen.”

The second document included statistics on the number of Israeli detainees, with some details about their ages, and whether they were military or civilian, young or old.

Qatar prepares for new round of negotiations between Hamas and Israel

The Qatari capital, Doha, is preparing to host a new round of negotiations regarding a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, and a deal to exchange prisoners and detainees between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel.

After months of stagnation, the negotiations received a new boost with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's visit to the region for the 11th time since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

"We talked about options to take advantage of this moment and next steps to move the process forward, and I expect our negotiators to meet in the coming days," Blinken said during a joint press conference in Doha on Thursday with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

"This is a moment to work to end this war, ensure that all hostages return home, and build a better future for the people of Gaza," he added.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman said that two American and Israeli negotiating delegations will visit Doha to participate in the truce negotiations in Gaza. He explained that Qatari officials met with officials from the Hamas political bureau in Doha during the past two days, but he indicated that so far "there is no clarity about the way forward."

Blinken said a ceasefire plan put forward by US President Joe Biden on May 31 remained on the table, but he also hinted at a willingness to explore "new frameworks" to seek the release of detainees.

Blinken said it had not yet been determined whether Hamas was ready to engage in new negotiations, but he urged it to do so.

But many critics of US policy in the United States and abroad see the problem as not limited to Hamas, but rather the Biden administration’s failure to pressure Israel, which has received billions of dollars in American weapons since the start of the war.

In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said that the head of the Israeli foreign intelligence agency (Mossad), David Barnea, will travel to Doha next Sunday, and will meet with the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, and the prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar.

"The parties will discuss various options for starting negotiations to release the hostages held by Hamas in light of the latest developments," the office added.

Qatar and Egypt have been mediating between Israel and Hamas in talks for months, and negotiations broke down last August without reaching an agreement.

With American support, the ongoing Israeli genocidal war in Gaza, since October 7, 2023, has left more than 143,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.

Putin warns of all-out war in the Middle East

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned at the BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan on Thursday that the Middle East was on the brink of all-out war, following escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. Putin's comments came as Russia faces international calls to end the war in Ukraine.

The summit, attended by more than 20 leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, focused heavily on the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. However, it did not produce any specific steps to end either war.

For his part, Xi stressed the need to reach a political settlement to the conflict in Ukraine, noting that the joint efforts of Beijing and Brasilia may be the most important opportunity to achieve peace. He also called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and the return of the two-state solution.

Criticism of international organizations

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during his participation in the summit, criticized international organizations, especially the United Nations, for their failure to stop the conflicts in the region. Pezeshkian said, "The fires of war are still burning in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, while international institutions lack the necessary effectiveness to extinguish this crisis."

In turn, Putin stressed the need to find a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue, adding that if the Palestinians do not obtain their independent state, the "historical injustice" will continue, and the Middle East will remain in a state of permanent tension.

The BRICS leaders issued a statement during the summit in which they affirmed their support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas attended the summit to participate in these discussions.

Speaking about the situation in Ukraine, Putin renewed his warnings about international efforts to defeat Russia, describing these attempts as "delusional" and not based on a correct understanding of Russia's history. These statements came as Russia faces increasing international pressure to end the war in Ukraine.

Hello Adel

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres attended the summit, calling for a "just peace" in Ukraine in line with the UN Charter and international law. He also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and stressed the need for peace in other tense areas such as Sudan.

Putin warned that the situation in the Middle East is rapidly deteriorating, noting that the conflict could spread to other countries in the region, and that the confrontation between Israel and Iran is becoming more dangerous. The Russian president stressed that the main task now is to launch a comprehensive political process to solve the problems in the Middle East.

Earlier today, the civil defense said that since yesterday, it has received hundreds of appeals through its media platforms and social media sites from families who refused to leave their homes in the town of Beit Lahia and the Jabalia camp and town, demanding that it respond to their calls for the presence of injured and martyrs in some homes and roads.

He added: "Some of our crews are still present in the northern governorate, despite the occupation army forcing some of them yesterday to leave the firefighting, rescue and ambulance vehicles, and asking them to evacuate the Beit Lahia project area and head towards the southern areas, and allowed some of them to pass through its checkpoints while arresting 4 of them."

The civil defense called on the countries of the free world, international humanitarian organizations and the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs to pressure the Israeli occupation to allow our crews present in the north to reach the remaining civil defense vehicles and return them to work to resume providing humanitarian services to citizens.

An Israeli officer and 4 soldiers were killed during battles in southern Lebanon

An Israeli officer and 4 soldiers were killed and 6 others were injured, including two officers who were seriously wounded, in battles in southern Lebanon, while battles continue between the invading forces and Hezbollah elements, with the mutual shelling continuing towards several areas and sites on both sides.

An initial investigation by the Israeli army indicates that the soldiers were killed by bombs thrown by Hezbollah elements after they emerged from a tunnel in a complex area opposite Zarit in the western sector of southern Lebanon.

Three people were injured in a rocket barrage launched from Lebanon that targeted the Nahariya area and its surroundings in the Arab Galilee, while the Lebanese army announced on Thursday the martyrdom of three of its members, including an officer, in an attack launched by the Israeli army on Lebanese army forces in Bint Jbeil while they were evacuating the wounded. This came the day after Israel launched 17 raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut, where six buildings were leveled to the ground, as the escalation of aggression against Lebanon entered its second month.

The Israeli air force intensified its raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut, while Hezbollah said that it was able to kill soldiers and wound others in the ground confrontations in southern Lebanon, and stressed in a statement issued last night that the Israeli army "was not able to control any entire village on the front line, despite its repeated attempts to advance towards the Lebanese villages."

In addition, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced the death of 2,574 martyrs and 12,001 wounded since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, noting that the death toll in the past 24 hours reached 28 martyrs and 139 wounded; while rescue teams in various Lebanese regions continue to work to try to rescue those trapped under the rubble of buildings attacked by the Israeli army.

Demonstration calling for ban on Israeli settlement products in Ireland

On Thursday, the Irish capital, Dublin, witnessed a demonstration in front of the Parliament building to demand the entry into force of the "Occupied Territories Act", which aims to ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements.

During the demonstration, the protesters demanded that the draft law called the “Occupied Territories Law” be put into effect, and that Shannon Airport be stopped from being used for military purposes in Israel’s interest.

Protesters also called on the government to provide support to health care workers and the health system in Gaza.

Participants held up banners reading "Help Gaza Now" and "Stop the Fire Now."

The demonstration was attended by the representative of the Irish Health Workers Association, Katrina Barrett.

Barrett said in her statements that they have been gathering in front of the Parliament building for 3 consecutive days.

He pointed out that the health care infrastructure in Gaza was completely destroyed, and that nearly a thousand health care workers were killed as a result of the Israeli attacks.

They explained that they are calling on the Irish government to take measures to protect the infrastructure and health care workers in Gaza.

“We urge our government to pass the Occupied Territories Law, which would ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements,” she added.

"We also want our government to prevent (Israeli) military personnel and equipment from passing through our airspace and using Shannon Airport," she continued.

Hezbollah engages in 'zero-distance' clashes, Israeli raids kill 5 Lebanese

Hezbollah announced that it was engaging in "zero-distance" clashes with Israeli soldiers inside a Lebanese border town, and while Israelis were injured and 12 apartments were damaged by rockets fired by the party, 5 Lebanese were killed in Israeli raids on southern Lebanon and eastern Beirut.

The party explained that its fighters are engaged in violent clashes in the town of Aita al-Shaab at zero distance with various types of machine guns and missiles with the Israeli occupation forces.

The party also announced that "when a Merkava tank intervened to provide support, its fighters targeted it with appropriate weapons, which led to its burning," after it said that it had destroyed another tank at dawn on Thursday, killing and wounding its crew.

A short while ago, Hezbollah said, "We targeted a Merkava tank with a guided missile south of the town of Adaisseh, killing and wounding its crew."

The party added - in successive statements - that it targeted Israeli soldiers as they advanced at the Adaisseh, Rab Thalathin and Taybeh triangle, and forced them to retreat.

The party confirmed that it "targeted a gathering of Zionist enemy forces at the Al-Malikiyah site with a rocket barrage."

Hezbollah also announced that it had bombarded the occupied city of Safed and the Zevulon military industries base, north of Haifa, with rockets.

He added that his fighters attacked the city of Nahariya and the settlement of Kiryat Shmona with rockets, and also targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the settlements of Manara and Misgav Am.

Israelis injured

On the other hand, 4 Israelis were injured when rockets were fired at the Western Galilee. Yedioth Ahronoth reported that one person was injured when a rocket fired from Lebanon hit a residential complex in Karmiel, noting that 12 apartments were also damaged.

The Israeli Army Radio said that about 120 rockets were fired towards Israel from Lebanon, since this morning.

The Israeli army radio quoted a medical source as saying that 3 Israelis were injured by shrapnel from rockets fired at the Western Galilee.

The Israeli army said it had detected the launch of 50 rockets from Lebanon towards northern Israel, and indicated that a number of them were intercepted, and some fell in open areas.

A military source said that for the first time since the beginning of the war, Hezbollah fired 50 rockets in two minutes at the Galilee.

Army Radio reported that 12 rockets fell in the city of Nahariya.

A short while ago, the Israeli Home Front Command announced that sirens sounded in Metula, Kiryat Shmona and its surroundings, and also sounded in several towns north of the Hula Valley following the infiltration of what it described as a "hostile drone."

For its part, the Israeli army said it intercepted 5 missiles fired from Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee and Central Galilee regions in the north.

Dead and injured

On the other hand, 5 Lebanese were killed and 6 others were injured - on Thursday - in Israeli raids targeting areas in the east and south of the country, as part of the comprehensive aggression launched by Tel Aviv against Lebanon.

The official Lebanese News Agency reported that an Israeli drone targeted a car with a missile in the Aley district of Mount Lebanon Governorate, east of the capital Beirut, killing two people.

Two people were killed and five others were injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a house in the town of Al-Khader in the Baalbek-Hermel Governorate, eastern Lebanon.

In the south, the agency reported that one person was killed and another was injured as a result of an Israeli drone strike on a motorcycle in the city of Tyre.

Al Jazeera's correspondent said that Israeli raids targeted the towns of Kfar Tibnit, Al-Bissarieh, Sheheen, Al-Ghassan, and Kafra and Yater in southern Lebanon, and other raids targeted the vicinity of the town of Al-Sama'iyah in Tyre district.

For its part, the Israeli army claimed that its forces had eliminated dozens of Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours, noting that it had raided more than 160 Hezbollah targets across Lebanon, including missile platforms, military buildings, and infrastructure.

The army confirmed in its morning report that "about 20 militants were eliminated, and combat equipment was found, including missile platforms, mortar shells, and weapons depots." It added that warplanes launched raids and eliminated cells it described as "sabotage."

After clashes with factions in Lebanon, including Hezbollah, which began after Israel launched a war of genocide on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Tel Aviv expanded the scope of the genocide since September 23 to include most areas of Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, through air strikes, and also began a ground invasion in the south.

The aggression on Lebanon resulted in a total of 2,574 deaths and 12,000 injuries, including a large number of women and children, and about 1.2 million displaced persons. Most of the victims and displaced persons were recorded after September 23.

Every day, Hezbollah responds by launching missiles, drones, and artillery shells targeting military sites, intelligence headquarters, military gatherings, and settlements. While Israel announces some of its human and material losses, military censorship imposes a strict blackout on most of the losses, according to observers.

Israeli occupation forces detain a Palestinian and his son and storm the town of Al-Karmel, south of Hebron

This evening, Thursday, the Israeli occupation forces detained a citizen and his son in Masafer Yatta, and stormed the town of Carmel, south of Hebron.

According to local sources, the occupation forces stopped the village council vehicle he was riding in with his son at the entrance to the village, forced him to stop it in the middle of the road, and seized its keys. He added that the occupation soldiers informed him that his detention and that of his son would continue for several hours, before they left the place.

In a related context, the occupation forces stormed the town of Al-Karmel, east of Yatta, and deployed on the main roads, obstructing the movement of citizens, before seizing two vehicles, without any arrests being reported.

Qatar, US, Egypt continue efforts to cease fire in Gaza

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said on Thursday that Qatar, the United States and Egypt are continuing their efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.

This came after his meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Doha, where he discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

The Qatari Foreign Minister added that an American negotiation team and an Israeli one will visit Doha to discuss ways to move the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza forward, reiterating that the mediator's role is dependent on the parties' positive engagement in the negotiations.

The Qatari minister condemned the Israeli siege on the northern Gaza Strip and the systematic bombing of hospitals, and said that everyone must show a sense of responsibility towards the innocent and civilians in the region, and stop the war as soon as possible.

In a related context, he said that he discussed the importance of reaching a sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue, adding that the two-state solution is the main reference for the peace process.

For his part, the US Secretary of State said that Washington is focusing intensively on returning the prisoners and ending the war in Gaza.

Commenting on Qatar's mediation to cease fire in Gaza, Blinken said, "We appreciate working with Qatar to achieve peace in the region."

He pointed out that Qatar's generosity over the past months has been great, as it has provided thousands of tons of aid to Gaza.

On Thursday, Blinken arrived in Doha, as part of his 11th tour of the region since Israel, with American support, began its ongoing genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

War on Gaza: 17 deaths and dozens wounded in bombing of a school sheltering displaced people

The Civil Defense in Gaza announced on Thursday that at least 17 people were killed and dozens were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a school in Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip, while the Israeli army claimed that it targeted Hamas militants.

Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal said, "The Israeli occupation targeted the Martyrs School in the Nuseirat area, and the initial toll is 17 martyrs and dozens of wounded, some of whom are in critical condition."

Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat confirmed the number of martyrs as a result of the occupation's bombing.

For its part, the Israeli army claimed that it targeted Hamas militants in the raid on the school.

"The Israeli Air Force carried out a strike on Hamas 'terrorists' who were operating inside a command and control centre in the Nuseirat area located inside the school," he added in a statement.

He continued, "The command and control center.

"Used to plan and carry out attacks against IDF forces and the State of Israel."

Umm Mohammed, who survived the raid, said she was sitting in one of the rows before stones and glass started falling on her head.

She added, "I hugged my little girl, I didn't see anything because of the density of the smoke and I ran screaming for my sister and found her downstairs alive."

She added that she saw "children, body parts, smoke and fire."

Yahya Abu Kamil, who was displaced from Gaza City to the Nuseirat camp, said, “This is a shelter center. We have been living here for about a year and there are no armed men there... Here are civilians displaced from Gaza.”

In a statement, Hamas said the Israeli raid on the school represented "the Zionist enemy's persistence in committing horrific massacres against defenceless civilians in shelters and displacement centres."

The government media office stated that "the occupation army knew that the school contained thousands of displaced people, and that the majority of them were children and women who had been displaced from their homes and whose civilian residential neighborhoods had been bombed."

In recent months, Israeli forces have targeted several schools in the Gaza Strip after they became displacement centers, but the army always claims that it is targeting Hamas fighters.

Guterres calls for ending the occupation of Gaza and establishing a two-state solution

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed on Thursday the need to make progress to end the occupation in Gaza and establish a two-state solution.

This came in a speech by Guterres during his participation in the "BRICS+ Expanded Session" held within the framework of the BRICS summit in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation.

Guterres said they need to strengthen and update the "peace mechanism."

"This includes reforms that will ensure that the UN Security Council reflects today's world," he added.

Guterres stressed the need to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, release all prisoners, and deliver humanitarian aid effectively without facing any obstacles, and pointed out that peace is generally required in the world.

In this regard, he referred to the recent UN General Assembly resolution, saying, "We need to make irreversible progress to end the occupation and establish the two-state solution."

The draft resolution, which Palestine submitted to the UN General Assembly for the first time last September, calls on Israel to end its presence in the occupied territories within 12 months. It was voted on in a special session of the UN General Assembly and was accepted by a majority of 124 votes against 14.

With American support, the ongoing Israeli genocidal war in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has left more than 143,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people.

Tel Aviv continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

For his part, the UN Secretary-General stressed the need to fully implement Security Council Resolution 1071 in Lebanon.

In August 2006, the Security Council issued Resolution 1701, which halted 33 days of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, known as the “July War,” and stipulated the deployment of 15,000 UNIFIL peacekeeping troops on the common border.

UNIFIL's area of operations is defined between the Litani River in the north inside Lebanon, and the "Blue Line" in the south separating the Arab country from Israel.

On another level, Guterres stressed that "peace is necessary in Ukraine and Sudan."

Blinken: "Israel" achieved its goals in the war

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that "Israel" achieved its goals in the war and we are working to end the war and build a better future for the people of Gaza.

He pointed out that the Qatari Prime Minister played a major personal role in the efforts to return the detainees to their homes, appreciating Qatar's position on its main role as a partner in finding peace.

Blinken stressed the intensification of efforts to reach a diplomatic solution in Lebanon that allows for the implementation of Resolution 1701, noting that the United States wants to ensure that we will not see further major escalation in the region.

He noted that he supports Israel's right to defend itself against Iran, but at the same time does not want to see a vicious cycle of escalation in the region.

He added: "There is a chance for a solution because the obstacle was Sinwar, who is no longer there now," and "we must have a plan for the next day that allows Israel to withdraw from Gaza."

He continued: "We must have a plan for the day after the war that does not allow Hamas to return to Gaza and we reject any action that creates a siege, starves people and separates parts of the Gaza Strip."

He pointed out that he expects the negotiations to resume within days and we will see the extent of Hamas's seriousness in participating, stressing the United States' complete rejection of the generals' plan in the northern Gaza Strip.

He also stressed that we are looking into different options that we have reached a conclusion regarding the ceasefire talks and the return of detainees.

Israeli and American delegations to arrive in Doha soon to resume Gaza negotiations

An American and Israeli delegation will arrive in the Qatari capital, Doha, in the coming days to discuss ways to move the negotiations forward, in an attempt to reach a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas, and to stop the ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since October 7.

This came according to what was announced by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, during a joint press conference held with the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, today, Thursday; noting that the negotiations have been suspended for a long time in light of the Israeli escalation in Gaza as well as in Lebanon.

A senior Israeli official told Channel 13 this evening that "an Israeli delegation is expected to arrive in Doha soon to complete the negotiations." Israeli reports indicated that an Israeli-Egyptian proposal was being prepared to conclude a limited exchange deal that includes a truce for several days, in an attempt to move the negotiations forward in an effort to reach a larger deal.

The Qatari Prime Minister said, "There is a negotiating team from the United States that will visit Doha alongside the negotiating team from the Israeli side, and the means through which a breakthrough can be achieved in these negotiations will be discussed." He confirmed that Doha "re-established communication" with the movement after the martyrdom of its leader, Yahya Sinwar, in Rafah.

Asked if Qatar had reached out to Hamas leaders after Sinwar's killing, he said: "We have reconnected with representatives of the (Hamas) political bureau in Doha. We have held some meetings with them in the past few days."

"I think that as of now, there is no clarity on the way forward," he added.

In turn, Blinken said Thursday that the United States is open to "different options" to end the war in Gaza after months of efforts to push for a US proposal for a ceasefire. He said: "We are considering different options. We have not yet determined whether Hamas is ready to participate, but the next step is to bring the negotiators together... We will certainly know more in the coming days."

Warning of more deaths among Gaza detainees

The Prisoners Club warned of the rise of more martyrs among the ranks of Gaza detainees, in light of the repeated scenes of arrest operations in Gaza, after the occupation announced the arrest of 200 citizens from Jabalia, with the continuation of the war of extermination for more than a year, as well as the renewal of the siege on the north for 20 days.

The Prisoners Club issued a statement yesterday about the escalation of arrests in northern Gaza under threat of arms, and detention in conditions that degrade human dignity, with naked people being crammed into trucks and in open areas, which is an extension of the arrest campaigns that have affected thousands of our people since the beginning of the war, which was accompanied by horrific crimes that led to the martyrdom of dozens of Gaza detainees, as a result of torture and abuse, in addition to the field executions that have affected many detainees.

He reiterated that there are still major difficulties in following up on the issue of Gaza detainees, in light of the occupation’s continued implementation of the crime of enforced disappearance against hundreds of them, even after the legal amendments that allowed institutions to investigate the fate of detainees, identify their places of detention, and conduct limited visits to them.

It is noteworthy that the occupation continues to conceal the names of dozens of martyrs from Gaza, and refuses to disclose their identities, knowing that 24 detainees from Gaza have died in the occupation’s prisons and camps, and only their names have been announced, out of 41 dead who have died in the occupation’s prisons, as a result of crimes of torture, starvation, humiliation, abuse, medical crimes, and sexual assaults, including rape.

It is noteworthy that the occupation detains Gaza detainees in most of the prisons and camps, and their detention centers are concentrated in the prisons of: (Negev, Ofer, and Ofer camp, in addition to a group of camps, the most prominent of which was the (Sde Teiman) camp, which was a title for torture crimes, noting that all the crimes documented in the (Sde Teiman) camp were documented in various prisons). As for the number of detainees from Gaza, the clear number available to the institutions is what the occupation prison administration announced at the beginning of October, of those classified as (illegal combatants), and their number is 1618, including women and children.

He stressed that all the demands made by human rights institutions and the cries of our people in Gaza, and the genocide taking place in front of the world, were not enough for the world and the international human rights system to stop the war of extermination, and the world continues to keep the occupation in a state of exception from all the laws and customs imposed by the human rights system, to which human societies are subject, but rather the occupation is working to institutionalize more crimes that affect all of humanity.

All the crimes documented and followed up by institutions since the beginning of the war of extermination are historically fixed and systematic crimes, and the occupation has practiced them over many decades, but the only variable relates to their level and intensity.

Gaza extermination: Netanyahu is 'finishing the job' while the world watches

Middle East Eye

Middle East Eye

Opinion Writer

David Hearst

Netanyahu is burying any chance of Israeli Jews being able to live in peace with their Arab neighbours for decades to come

On 19 November 1995, the indictment of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia against Serb leaders Radovan Karadjic and Ratko Mladic was issued.

It said that between about 12 July 1995 and 13 July 1995, Mladic arrived in Potocari, where thousands of Bosnian Muslim men, women and children had sought refuge in and around the UN military compound, accompanied by his military aides and a television crew.

The Bosnian Serb general filmed himself telling Muslims that they would be safely transported out of Srebrenica. Mladic boarded a bus of terrified refugees and addressed them.

"Good afternoon. You heard the stories about me for a very long time. Now you are looking at me (the driver interrupts). You shut up. Your job is to drive.

"I am General Mladic. There are able-bodied people among you. You are all safe. And you are all going to be transported to Kladanj. We wish you a safe journey. You who are of military age, do not go to the front again. No more forgiveness. Now I'm giving your life as a gift."

In Potocari, the men and boys were separated from the women, driven to Bratunac and shot dead by Bosnian Serb soldiers.

On and around the same dates, the indictment continued, Muslim men and women who had taken refuge in the UN compound were summarily executed and their bodies were left lying in the fields and buildings in the compound.

Almost three decades later, the same - if not worse - is happening on a daily basis in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

The killing is as organised.

Men are being separated from women and are being led off to an unknown fate, some never to be seen again. Bodies litter the streets of Jabalia.

The streets of the camp are strewn with evidence of summary execution; bodies of men, women and children with their heads torn off are lying in the entrances to buildings.

Unlike the killing fields of Srebrenica, it's all documented on video.

Meanwhile, an Israeli soldier is filmed handing sweets out to children awaiting transportation.

What is happening in northern Gaza today is qualitatively different to any horror visited on Gaza in the last year.

Worse than Nakba

What is taking place before our eyes is worse than the Nakba (the Catastrophe) in 1948 when 700,000 Palestinians were made refugees, because what happened at Deir Yassin or Tantura is happening every night in northern Gaza.

The technology of killing has changed. The intent to leave no survivors behind has not.

Today, a total siege is being laid.

There is no food, water, or medical care coming in. What remains of the healthcare system after a year of bombing is being systematically dismantled. Schools are being bombed. Northern Gaza is being rendered uninhabitable.

As in Srebrenica, the civilian victims are being shunted to "safe areas" and then killed.

It's organised on an industrial scale.

"The smell of death is everywhere," writes Philippe Lazzarini, head of Unrwa "as bodies are left lying on the roads or under the rubble. Missions to clear the bodies or provide humanitarian assistance are denied."

More than 8000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were killed in Srebrenica.

There are up to 400,000 Palestinians in northern Gaza, dozens of whom are dying every night in artillery fire, drone strikes, or close up in summary executions.

This has been going on for three weeks and there is no international pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu to stop. There are no statements of condemnation by any western leader.

The two cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) include some of the most severe allegations of violating international law of modern times, such as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. However, they remain stalled.

Five months have passed since Karim Khan, the ICC prosecutor, requested an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and his Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. The Hamas leaders wanted on war crimes charges, Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar are dead, and according to Israel, so too is Mohammed Deif.

That leaves only the Israeli officials facing warrants and yet none have been issued.

The average wait for the judges of the pre-trial chamber to approve a warrant requested by the prosecutor is two months.

The Rome Statute says the purpose of the court is not only to hold those accountable for war crimes to account, but to stop further crimes from being committed.

But for five months this court has been paralysed while war crimes are being committed daily.

'Finish the job'

Far from facing an arrest warrant, Netanyahu is taking a bow to general applause.

At home, Sinwar’s death is being taken as vindication of his policy of defying his chief armourer, US President Joe Biden, who told him to stop the war many months ago.

What is happening in northern Gaza today is qualitatively different to any horror visited on Gaza in the last year

Amit Segal, a commentator of  Israeli TV's Channel 12, said that the "success" in killing Sinwar was due to Israel not listening to anyone for a whole year and continuing its military strategy, avoiding a ceasefire despite all international pressure.

Abroad, a cigarette paper divides the traditional camps of centre left and right on Palestine.

Biden says one thing, but as we all know continues to arm Israel to the teeth. Donald Trump has the dubious distinction of saying what he thinks.

Both are wholly acquiescent by their silence. If anything the Keir Starmers and and Anthony Blinkens of this world are worse than the likes of the former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo or Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.

On his 11th tour of the region, Blinken told Netanyahu that there was "a perception" that a plan conceived by retired generals to force the population of northern Gaza out by starvation was being enacted. He was easily batted away by Netanyahu who simply lied to him, as he has done to Biden repeatedly.

A perception of a massacre? It's what we report every day.

The killings in Gaza are happening now because Netanyahu knows that Biden is two weeks away from a presidential election and has run out of political capital to stop him

The killings in Gaza are happening now because Netanyahu knows that Biden is two weeks away from a presidential election and has run out of political capital to stop him.

Whether they admit it publicly or not, Netanyahu has been persuading all of them that he is turning the tide of this war in Gaza and Lebanon and that he should be allowed to "finish the job".

But what does that mean? Where does the job end?

For the religious Zionists of the Jewish Power party, the end of the war is eviction of all Palestinians and the total takeover of Gaza by settlers.

To emphasise their "power", a conference was held on Monday three kilometres from the Gaza border, and to the sounds of shelling. A goodly number of Likud Knesset members came along.

Many of those attending carried stickers celebrating Meir Kahane, the US born rabbi and convicted terrorist who said that all Palestinians should be forced out of Israel.

The extremist settlers' leader, Danielle Weis, claimed that her organisation Nahala had already entered a deal worth "millions of dollars" for temporary housing units as a preliminary to settlement of the strip. "You will witness how Jews go to Gaza and Arabs disappear from Gaza," Weis said.

Watching Gaza burn

Gatherings like these are dismissed by Israel’s supporters in Britain as colourful cranks, unrepresentative of the state they still call "Israel proper". The majority of Israelis reject the plan to reoccupy Gaza, they say.

But the majority of Israelis are witnessing a plan to empty Gaza and are doing nothing to stop it. This is all self deception.

More telling than the presence of Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir at a conference in which Jews were dancing and celebrating Gaza’s collapse, were the Likud Knesset members who turned up.

Never have Israelis been so oblivious to the forces they are stirring up in the hearts of Arabs, regardless of background, clan or creed

Netanyahu denies his plan is to empty Gaza, but his MK, Tally Gotliv, knows her party leader better. She told MEE: "I have no doubt that he is supporting the settlement of Gaza because it will bring more security, not just for the area around Gaza Strip but for Israel."

Gotliv fully supports what is happening in northern Gaza: "The people in the north of Gaza allowed the Hamas fighters to go through on October 7th," she said. "I have no mercy. The only mercy we have is that we give them the chance to leave… They should leave and go to the south."

Watching Gaza burn is a spectator sport. Israelis had gathered in their cars at one vantage point.

Never has the gap in understanding between conquerer and subject been so great. Never have Israelis been so oblivious to the forces they are stirring up in the hearts of Arabs, regardless of background, clan or creed.

Opinion in the two Arab countries that have signed peace treaties with Israel, Egypt and Jordan, could not be clearer.

Mortada Mansour is an Egyptian politician who called the revolution of 2011 "the worst day in Egypt’s history". He hated the Muslim Brotherhood and ardently supported Sisi’s military coup. No Islamist is he.

But he writes of Yehia Sinwar’s death: "The martyrdom of the Palestinian fighter Yahya Sinwar at the hands of the criminal Zionists and his injury to the face confirms that he was a brave soldier who faced death bravely in defence of his occupied homeland and did not flee or hide in a tunnel as the Arab Zionists claimed.

"He did not flee to Paris or London where some wealthy Arabs struggle in gambling halls and nightclubs spending millions of dollars on their whims while the children of the brotherly Palestinian people cannot find a drink of water. Rather, he remained in his occupied homeland resisting until he was martyred."

The Nasserite Hamdeen Sabahi was another fierce critic of  late Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

Addressing the dead Hamas leader he writes: "The image of your martyrdom will throw stones at the skeptics. You were martyred like all the heroic people of Gaza, not hiding in tunnels nor surrounded by their prisoners. You were with your men facing the enemy. Your pure blood is an inspiring support for the resistance until the liberation of Palestine. May you live long in this life and the hereafter."

It's the same in Jordan.

No justice served

The families of the two fighters who staged a cross border attack in the south Dead Sea area, injuring two Israeli soldiers, were mobbed by well wishers.

The father of one of the men, Amer Qawas, was carried on the shoulders of the crowd during a demonstration in Amman. Nasser Qawas said the blood of his son was not more precious than the blood of Palestinian people.

Everyone has forgotten the man after whom the Qassam Brigades were named.

He was a Syrian preacher, Ezzedine al-Qassam, who died in an uprising against European colonisers in the Levant during the Mandate in 1936. Fifty six years after his death, Hamas created its military wing - taking after his name - which fought a longer war against Israel than all the Arab armies combined.

In Yahya Sinwar, Israel has created a legend of resistance even more powerful than Qassam in Palestinian and Arab minds.

As commentator Fadi Quran rightly notes, the more Israel takes the lives of students like Sha’ban al-Dalou, burned alive in the courtyard of a hospital, or Hanan Abu Salami, the 59-year-old woman who was killed by an Israel soldier while harvesting her olive trees in the West Bank, the more hundreds of thousands of Qassams and Sinwars will be committed to fight back.

Netanyahu thinks he is winning this war by burying his enemies in rubble. He is burying any chance of Israeli Jews being able to live in peace with their Arab neighbours for decades to come.

Karadjic and Mladic had their day in court, and are now serving life sentences in The Hague and Parkhurst.

This year, the General Assembly adopted a resolution designating 11 July as the "International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica", to be observed annually.

I doubt whether Netanyahu, Gallant and all those who have created this genocide will ever be brought to justice in their lives.

Maybe they will have a few questions to answer in the next.

Half of Jabalia ethnically cleansed by Israeli army as schools burned and men kidnapped

Palestinians have given harrowing accounts of the situation in northern parts of the enclave, where Israel shut off food and water supplies more than two weeks ago

Israeli troops are going school to school in Jabalia and nearby areas to forcibly remove unarmed, starved and besieged Palestinian civilians from their homes as the military campaign to ethnically cleanse north Gaza nears its third week, eyewitnesses have told Middle East Eye.

Under the cover of heavy air strikes and artillery shelling, large Israeli ground forces directly and systematically attack homes and buildings used as shelters by displaced families, forcing everyone out at gunpoint.

The buildings, including UN schools and houses, are subsequently either razed or burned by Israeli soldiers to prevent people from returning.

Troops then separate men from women, before taking them to humiliating field interrogations and later abducting many of them to unknown locations.

Women and children are forced to head south of Jabalia refugee camp. Some were bombed and killed as they fled, according to media reports.

Refusing to comply with Israeli orders, many of them went west of Jabalia to Beit Lahia while others arrived at the nearest points in the adjacent Gaza City.

'I will only leave Jabalia a dead body, no other way'

- Yahya, Jabalia resident

Hasan*, a resident of the north Gaza, said he saw scores of bodies strewn across the streets in Jabalia as civil defence teams and paramedics were prevented by Israeli forces from rescuing the wounded.

"This is a genocide. They're starving people, blockading people. There are still tens of thousands of people here in Jabalia," he told MEE.

The Israeli military launched its latest offensive on north Gaza on 5 October, claiming it was rooting out Hamas fighters who had regrouped there. Hundreds of Palestinians are reported to have been killed since, and tens of thousands displaced.

Local reporters estimate nearly of half of north Gaza, which was home to over 1m people before the war, have been removed from their homes so far, warning the rest could face a similar fate in coming days.

The offensive began after a controversial proposal named the "Generals' Plan" was presented to the Israeli government, which would see areas north of the Netzarim Corridor, which cuts Gaza in two, emptied of its residents so Israel could establish a "closed military zone".

"Those who leave will receive food and water," Giora Eiland, a retired Israeli military general and former head of the National Security Council, who is spearheading the proposal, said in a video posted about the plan last month.

According to the plan, anyone who chooses to stay would be considered a Hamas operative and could be killed.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, Unrwa, estimates that about 400,000 people remain in Gaza's north, including Gaza City.

Meanwhile, the besieged areas remained under a debilitating siege and media blackout, with Israeli forces accused of exacerbating starvation and malnutrition as part of a plan to ethnically cleanse Palestinians.

Palestinians are denied access to food and water, whilst Israeli forces are indiscriminately killing anyone venturing out from their homes, residents and eyewitnesses say.

Hasan told MEE many Palestinians in Jabalia were still trapped in their homes, with multiple families holed up in the same building after much of the war-torn camp was razed in previous incursions.

He said that Israeli forces had intensified their siege tactics in the area and begun planting bombs in water barrels which were strategically placed in front of people's homes or residential areas.

"What the Israeli forces do is that they plant the barrel in an area, and then they withdraw and later explode it,” he said.

"They [the explosions] sound like an earthquake.

"All of this is part of [Israel's] plan to evict and displace residents from the area, to clear the area."

Yahya, another resident currently trapped inside the Jabalia refugee camp, told MEE people are exhausted and conditions are unbearable.

"The entire area around me is destroyed. Homes, cars and even people. Most of them are wounded. Each one has an injury in his arm, leg, head or eye," Yahya said.

But he and thousands of other residents have made their peace and will not leave.

"I will only leave Jabalia a dead body, no other way," he told MEE via phone as artillery shelling rang out in the background.

'Death in all forms'

In addition to attacks on schools and homes, Israeli forces are also closing in on the few hospitals that are partially operational in north Gaza.

Ahmed Abu Qamar, a Gaza City resident, told MEE that Israeli forces have set up a military base and an interrogation centre directly next to the Indonesian Hospital, which was one of the biggest hospitals in the Gaza Strip before the war.

The health facility is now completely out of service after supplies, including electricity and fuel, were cut off more than a week ago, he added.

Israeli forces are also stationed near the Al-Awda Hospital, which has prevented ambulances from moving in or out.

"The hospital is only dealing with the cases trapped inside," Abu Qamar said.

'Anyone who is injured continues to bleed until they die'

However, the most "critical situation" is at the Kamal Adwan Hospital.

"[My friend inside] told me the hospital is very overcrowded with more than 2,000 people currently in the two main buildings," Abu Qamar added.

"No one can leave or enter. When there are pleas for help from the wounded around the hospital, the medical teams take immense risks, they even now leave the bodies of the martyrs on the ground and only try to rescue the injured.

"Every few hours, a quadcopter flies over the hospital, warning everyone to leave but the situation is catastrophic and the shelling around the hospital continues non-stop."

Dr Mohammed Obeid, a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) orthopaedic surgeon who is at the Kamal Adwan hospital, described the situation inside the hospital as "disastrous".

In a testimony sent to MSF and viewed by MEE, he said medical teams can't reach the bodies of those killed and can't save the wounded.

"We don't have the means to treat the injured. We don't have medical staff or surgical equipment," Dr Obeid said.

"There is death in all colours and forms in Kamal Adwan hospital. The artillery didn't stop. The planes didn't stop. The drones didn't stop.

"The medical staff are exhausted. They are very tired, many of them are wounded. There are many of their families who are wounded also. I don't know  what  to  say."

Meanwhile, civil defence team say say they continue to get calls from all over northern Gaza asking for help, but ambulances are unable to reach the injured.

"We have injuries and martyrs every moment," civil defence paramedic Motaz Ayoub told MEE, adding "anyone who is injured continues to bleed until they die."

Ayoub said that with the exception of the Kamal Adwan Hospital, every other hospital was out of service.

"At every moment, every second, we are having to tend with the dead and wounded," he said.

"People are not even able to reach the cemeteries to bury the dead. So now some are being buried in the streets and on the roads. The situation in the north is very, very catastrophic."

'The smell of death is everywhere'

Hasan told MEE that Israeli forces had also raided UN storage centres and stolen food during the assault, and were deliberately targeting water and sewage pipes in an attempt to exacerbate the dire situation.

"They [Israeli forces] are specifically targeting water supplies or any water pipes that are still remaining," he said.

"So, the people now are also dying from thirst, not just starvation."

The testimonies he and other have provided come as Unrwa chief Philippe Lazzarini said his agency's staff could not find food, water or medical care in northern parts of the enclave.

"The smell of death is everywhere as bodies are left lying on the roads or under the rubble," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"People are just waiting to die. They feel deserted, hopeless and alone."

Last week, a report by the UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification initiative warned that the risk of famine stalked the entire Gaza Strip, adding that the "worst case scenario may materialize".

If humanitarian aid delivery continues to be restricted, concerning levels of food insecurity and malnutrition will intensify, the IPC said.

The Israeli government has denied that conditions causing malnutrition exist inside Gaza and has said it works with international organisations to ensure necessary aid crosses the border into Gaza from Israel.

However, according to the country's own ministries, less than one seventh of the food aid that was allowed into Gaza last month has entered in October.

According to the IPC, the entire Gaza Strip has been classified as Phase 4, and without significant intervention about 60,000 cases of acute malnutrition among children ages six months to under five-years-old are expected to occur between September 2024 and August 2025.

The implementation of the starvation and ethnic cleansing plan comes as the United States furthers its support for Israel

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Israel on Monday for his 11th trip to the region since Israel launched its war last October.
