On Thursday, Biden receives the Colombian president for the first time

The White House announced that US President Joe Biden will receive his Colombian counterpart Gustavo Petro for the first time in Washington next week.

Washington said in a statement that the two presidents will meet on April 20 to discuss issues of mutual interest such as global warming, migration and drug trafficking.

The announcement of the visit came while the FBI included one of the leaders of the last rebel movement in Colombia, the National Liberation Army, on the list of the ten most wanted persons, on charges of drug trafficking.

The US State Department offered $5 million for any information related to Wilver Viejas-Palomino.

Petro's government is conducting peace negotiations with the National Liberation Army.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement that Palomino's inclusion in the list of the ten most wanted "enhances our country's partnership with Colombia to combat terrorism and the spread of dangerous drugs in the United States and around the world."

Gustavo Petro, who was elected in June 2022, promised during his campaign to resume peace negotiations with armed groups boycotted by his conservative predecessor, and to end the "war on drugs" policy.

Bogota believes that the visit of the left-wing Colombian president to Washington constitutes "a basis for strengthening relations between Colombia and the United States."

In statements over the phone to Al-Jazeera, Hamidti affirmed, "We will not stop until we take control of all the army's positions (...) I cannot determine when the fighting will end, as the war is hit-and-run."

Three civilians were killed in the battles that erupted between the army, led by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by his former ally, who became his staunch enemy, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, known as "Hemedti."

French singer Enrico Macías: My hope to return to Algeria will remain

Algerian -born French singer Enrico Macias rejects the idea of retiring despite being over eighty-four. The artist, who managed during a 60-year career to make Arab-Andalusian music popular in France, asserts that the "hope" to return to his motherland will remain.

"What I love most in the world is being a singer, playing music and being on stage!" the owner of Gens du Nord and Mandiant de l'amour said in an interview with Agence France-Presse.

"I'm glad I'm still here. I wake up in the morning, give interviews, give concerts... If it weren't for all of that, I would have finished," Macías, who is performing Sunday in Paris, adds.

He continues, "I have been singing for peace and fraternity for 60 years. I am happy and above all grateful for God's providence that has enabled me to live to the age of 84 and a half years, and to continue to be on stage (...). The audience gives me energy. It is the audience that keeps me alive." life and keep singing.

As the artist, whose songs numbered 150, thanked his fans, he addressed his fans, saying, "You must constantly maintain hope, and never give up in the face of life's difficulties."

The Jewish singer, who was forced in 1961 to leave his hometown, the Algerian city of Constantine, after the assassination of his father-in-law, "Sheikh" Raymond Leiris during the War of Independence, remembers that the music that Leiris taught him and the success he achieved helped him "heal from the trauma and difficulties" he experienced.

Macías, who was named “Ambassador-at-Large of Peace” by the United Nations in 1997, recounts, “I spent all my youth in the midst of violence. When I arrived in France I was, and still am, an orphan of the motherland, without revenge or hatred.” countries) is a perfect epitome of peace and brotherhood among human beings.

After moving to Paris, Gaston Grenacia, born on December 13, 1938, took the stage name Enrico Macías, in the midst of the “ye-ye” music wave, which means quoting hit songs in English into French.

Macias' first singles Paris, tu m'as pris dans tes bras ("Paris, you took me in your arms"), Les filles de mon pays ("My girls") and "Boi boui boui" soon became hits.

Macías was thirty when he sang at Carnegie Hall in New York, before performing at the Royal Albert Hall in London three years later.

"I never planned my success or my career," says Macías. "My drug is music, it runs in my veins, in my heart. I want to sing as much as I can, until my last breath."

A few years ago, singers of the new generation, such as Carla Bruni, Cali, Corneille and Natasha Saint-Pierre, honored him by performing his most prominent songs. Enrico continues to follow new talents, and believes that "talent consists in presenting something special and new, and the most important thing is that the audience loves him."

Enrico Macías turned away several times from returning to Algeria in light of the rejection of Algerian politicians who blamed him for his support for Israel. "I will still have hope," he said. "If I am destined to return to Algeria with what is left for me, I will not refuse."

Detainees’ institutions ( the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs , the Prisoner’s Club , Addameer Association for Prisoner Care and Human Rights , and Wadi Hilweh Center – Jerusalem) said that the occupation authorities continue to detain about (4,900) prisoners, including (31) female prisoners, and ( 160 children, including a girl, under the age of 18, in addition to more than 1,000 administrative detainees, including 6 children and two families, namely (Raghad Al-Fani and Rawda Abu Ajamia).

In a report she prepared today, Saturday, on the occasion of Prisoner’s Day, which falls on Monday, 17 April, the only variable that exists is that the occupation authorities and their various apparatuses have worked to develop more tools of abuse, and deepen their violations through the structure of violence aimed at Depriving the Palestinian prisoner of his efficacy and undermining any escalating struggle against him with the aim of determining his fate and protecting his human rights.

The number of old prisoners arrested before the signing of the Oslo Accords is 23, the oldest of whom is the prisoner Muhammad al-Tus, who has been detained since 1985. In addition, there are (11) prisoners who were liberated in the “prisoner exchange” deal, who were re-arrested by the occupation, and they are among the old prisoners who were arrested since Before (Oslo), they were released in 2011 and re-arrested in 2014, most notably the prisoner Nael Al-Barghouti, who is serving the longest period of detention in the history of the captive movement, and who entered his 43rd year in the occupation prisons, of which he spent 34 years continuously, and the number of prisoners who spent more than 20 About 400 prisoners, who are known as “deans of prisoners,” in addition to dozens of freedmen who were re-arrested in 2014, and spent more than 20 years in two terms.

While the number of prisoners who were sentenced to life imprisonment reached (554) prisoners, and the highest prisoner sentence among them is the prisoner Abdullah Al-Barghouti, whose term is (67) life imprisonment, and the number of martyrs of the captive movement: it reached (236) martyrs, since 1967, in addition to hundreds of The prisoners died after their liberation from diseases they inherited from prisons.

As for the number of martyred prisoners whose bodies are held, it has reached 12 martyrs, who are: Anis Doula, who was martyred in Ashkelon prison in 1980, Aziz Owaisat since 2018, Faris Baroud, Nassar Taqatqa, Bassam Al-Sayeh, and three of them were martyred during 2019, Saadi Al-Gharabli, and Kamal Abu Waar during the year 2020, the prisoner Sami Al-Amour, who was martyred in 2021, the prisoner Dawood Al-Zubaidi, who was martyred in 2022, and Muhammad Maher Turkman, who rose during the year 2022 in the hospitals of the occupation, in addition to the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, who was martyred in December 2022, and the detainee Wadih Abu Symbols who slept in occupation hospitals on January 28, 2023.

The number of sick prisoners is more than (700) prisoners suffering from diseases of various degrees, and they need intensive follow-up and health care, including at least 24 prisoners and detainees who have cancer and tumors of varying degrees. The most difficult of these cases today is the case of the prisoner leader Walid Daqqa, who has been detained for 37 years And the prisoner, Asif Al-Rifai.

The reality of arrests since the beginning of this year

Since the beginning of this year, the competent institutions have recorded about 2,300 cases of arrest, as arrests constitute the most consistent and systematic policy targeting all segments of Palestinian society. The number of children arrested since the beginning of this year has reached more than (350), most of them from Jerusalem, while the number of women and girls has Those who were arrested (40).

The rate of arrests in Jerusalem is the highest compared to the rest of the West Bank governorates, as arrests during the past year exceeded more than 3,000 cases out of 7,000 arrests from all over the Palestinian territory, and the high pace of arrests has not actually stopped since the beginning of this year, as more than 1,200 cases of arrest in Jerusalem and its towns, in addition to arrests, house arrest, deportation, imposition of taxes, fines, compensation, home demolitions, seizure of funds of families of prisoners inside occupation prisons, and ex-prisoners, with the aim of fighting the Palestinian presence and displacing the indigenous population from Jerusalem.

The crime of arbitrary administrative detention was also the most prominent crime that the occupation authorities escalated its implementation, which mainly aims to undermine any effective and current struggle. The number of detainees exceeded more than a thousand, and this percentage is the highest since 2003, which affected children, women, and the elderly. And patients, as the number of administrative detainees among children reached (6) children, and two families, namely (Raghad Al-Fani and Rawda Abu Ajamiyyah), noting that the number of arrest warrants issued under the pretext of having a (confidential file) has reached more than (860) since the beginning of this year. ) an order, emphasizing that the majority of administrative detainees are former prisoners who spent years in the occupation prisons.

Racial legislation and laws

The occupation system, at all levels, escalated the targeting of prisoners, through several tools, including: the enactment of racist laws and legislation affecting the fate of prisoners and their families, the most prominent of which was: a bill to execute prisoners who carried out resistance operations against the occupation, in addition to the law to revoke citizenship and residency from Jerusalemite prisoners and liberators and from lands occupied in 1948, and this was not the first racist legislation, but the occupation legislated over the years a number of dangerous racist laws, targeting prisoners.

The reality of the prisoners inside the occupation prisons

As for the reality of the prisoners inside the occupation prisons, the occupation authorities, led by the Occupation Prisons Administration, continued to implement their consistent and systematic policies against male and female prisoners, including child prisoners, most notably the crime of medical negligence (slow killing), which today constitutes the most prominent of these crimes, and he was the last victim of medical negligence. The martyr Ahmed Abu Ali from Hebron, who was martyred in February of this year.

The number of sick prisoners in the occupation prisons is more than 700, including 24 prisoners who suffer from cancer and tumors of various degrees, the most prominent of which is the case of the prisoner Walid Daqqa, who has been detained for 37 years, and who suffers from a rare cancer that affects the bone marrow known as (myelofibrosis), as a result of a crime. Medical negligence, Daqqa recently suffered several successive health setbacks, and was transferred, after demands from the prisoners, to Barzilai Hospital, with a serious health condition to this day, in addition to the case of the prisoner, Asif Al-Rifai, in which the cancer reached an advanced stage.

In addition to these policies, the policy of solitary confinement, which has escalated significantly since 2021 until today, specifically after the "Freedom Tunnel" operation, and the number of prisoners facing solitary confinement today is about (35), including sick prisoners suffering from mental and chronic health diseases. Among them is the prisoner Ahmed Manasra, who the occupation continues to detain and isolate despite his serious health and psychological condition. We also mention here the oldest isolated prisoners in the occupation prisons, the prisoner Muhammad Khalil, who has been facing solitary confinement for more than 15 years.

In addition to these policies, the operations of breaking into prisoner sections and abuse of them. Since late last year and at the beginning of this year, many incursions into prisoner sections have been recorded in several prisons, and they have actually escalated compared to the months preceding November 2022, and reached their intensity at the end of November 2022. January of this year, when several raids were recorded in one day, and collective punishments were imposed on the prisoners, including a mass isolation process.

The occupation authorities also continued to put obstacles in the way of visits to the families of prisoners, depriving thousands of their family members, or depriving prisoners (as a punishment) imposed on them, or because of their partisan affiliation, as is the case with dozens of prisoners from Gaza, where the prison administration deliberately turns any right into a tool to impose further measures. Abuse of the prisoners, and it never stopped (developing) tools to obstruct the visits of the prisoners, and the abuse of the families of the prisoners.

Over the course of February and until March 22 of this year, the prisoners carried out a series of protest steps, represented by daily disobedience steps that affected all aspects of detention life, in rejection of the set of measures announced by the extremist Minister of National Security "Ben Ghafir" against the prisoners. Many details were targeted, including the amount of water the prisoners are allowed to use, the hours of showering, and bread.

Indeed, after a confrontation that lasted for 37 days, the prisoners were able, in agreement with the Prisons Administration, to push it to retract its announced measures. However, this does not mean that it stopped many of the policies of abuse against the prisoners, which have become part of the Israeli prison system.

Nine people were killed when an apartment building was bombed in Sloviansk, eastern Ukraine

A ninth person was found dead on Saturday under the rubble of an apartment building in Sloviansk , in eastern Ukraine, that was bombed the day Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law facilitating the call-up of young people to serve in the ranks of the army.

"Unfortunately, during the night, the death toll increased. Rescuers pulled the body of a woman from under the rubble," wrote the head of the Sloviansk military department, Vadim Liakh, on Facebook.

He pointed out that five people are still trapped under the rubble, while 21 people were injured. An earlier toll reported that at least eight people were killed.

Among the victims was a two-year-old boy who was pulled alive from the rubble by rescue personnel before he breathed his last in the ambulance, according to what was confirmed by the advisor to the Ukrainian President, Daria Zarevna, on Telegram.

Sloviansk is located in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Donetsk region, but is close to Russian-controlled territory.

On Friday, the city was targeted, according to the Ukrainian presidency, with seven missiles that destroyed five buildings, five homes, a school and an administrative building.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of "brutally" bombing residential buildings and "killing people in broad daylight".
The Donetsk region prosecutor's office said in a statement that a preliminary investigation had been opened for violations of the laws and rules of war.

"According to preliminary information, the occupiers used S-300 anti-aircraft missiles against the civilian population," the statement said.
Agence France-Presse correspondents saw rescuers searching for survivors on the last floor of an apartment building and black smoke billowing from the burning houses across the street.

"I live across the street and I was sleeping when I heard a loud explosion," Larissa, 59, told AFP.

In Moscow, on Friday, Putin signed a law facilitating the call-up of young people to serve in the army, in a text approved by Parliament in just two days.

The new law allows reservists to be mobilized electronically, through the portal of Russian government institutions, or when the summon order is notified to another person, after the summon order should have been delivered to the person personally.

In September 2022, Putin issued a decree mobilizing 300,000 reservists, the implementation of which was, for the most part, messy.
The new law has sparked discontent among some residents who find it paves the way for a new wave of conscription despite the Kremlin's denials, as Russia struggles with its offensive into Ukraine and the Ukrainian army prepares a massive counter-offensive.

The police will be able to hunt down those who fail to respond to the summons and who may be sentenced to imprisonment, and the tax department, universities and other public bodies have a duty to provide personal information about the mobilization soldiers.

Consequently, failure to apply to the recruitment office will deprive the Russians concerned of working in the field of business or in liberal professions, obtaining loans, and the freedom to control their homes and cars. These measures also include Russians who have fled work and are working remotely.

The conscription movement in September 2022 caused tens of thousands of Russians to flee abroad.

The bombing of Sloviansk came after Russia announced on Friday that its forces were fighting battles to control the western regions of Bakhmut, where fighting has been raging for months.

And on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that fighters from the Wagner armed group are advancing towards the city, with the support of the Russian Air Force.

"The Wagner offensive units are engaged in intensive combat operations to take control of the western areas of the city," the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The statement indicated that the Russian airborne forces "support the offensive teams and curb the enemy's attempts to deliver ammunition to the city and involve reserve elements."

Ukraine pledged to continue to defend Bakhmut. But on the ground, Ukrainian sources told AFP near the city that the Ukrainian army was in a "difficult" situation.

On the diplomatic level, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called on the United States to stop "encouraging war" in Ukraine and start "talking about peace."

He added that the international community could then "convince" Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky that "peace is in the interest of the whole world."

US police kill innocent people after they went to wrong house

American policemen killed a man in his home, only to find out later that they had knocked on the door of the wrong house in Farmington , New Mexico, according to video footage published Friday.

On the 5th of April, the police received a call about domestic violence at House No. 5308 on Valley View Blvd. However, a three-man patrol knocked several times on the door of House No. 5305 and confirmed that they were from the police.

Video footage released by the New Mexico State Police showed a man named Robert Dotson who, according to the police, opened the door to House #5305 with a gun in his hand, and was promptly shot.

Although the patrol contacted police headquarters to confirm the address, the police said that at this stage they are unable to explain why the officers went to the wrong address.

Scenes later showed Robert Dotson's wife standing at the entrance door and new gunshots were heard. The police said that this woman shot the two policemen.

The names of the two policemen have not been revealed yet, and they are on paid leave until the end of the investigation.

Local police chief Steve Heap said in a statement that all police agencies were aware of the "seriousness" of the case.

"As the police chief, I would like to express how sorry this tragedy has happened," he added.

About 40 percent of American households own a gun, according to the Pew Research Center.

Last year, about 44,000 gunshot deaths were recorded in the United States, half of these cases were in homicides, accidents, or self-defense cases, and the other half were related to suicides, according to the Gun Violence Archives.

Montana is the first US state to pass a law banning Tik Tok

On Friday, the US state of Montana passed a law banning TikTok , which may strengthen the will of the United States to completely block the popular platform of the Chinese “ByteDance” group, although the possibilities of its implementation in its current text seem unlikely.

SB419 passed by a vote of 54-43, but it still has to be approved by the Republican governor of this northwest state, which has a population of just over 1 million.

Like many members of Congress from both the Democratic and Republican parties, Montana representatives believe that the platform used by 150 million Americans to watch short and entertaining videos allows Beijing to spy on and manipulate users.

The text requires mobile app stores (for devices running Apple's and Google's operating systems) to stop making TikTok available as of January 1, 2024.

With this, Montana became the first US state to pass a law banning TikTok. However, it is certain that the text will face a judicial challenge, and therefore it is unlikely that it will be applied in its current form.

"The constitutionality of this provision will be decided in the courts. We will continue to fight for TikTok users and content creators in Montana," a spokeswoman for the app said before the vote.

On Thursday, Republican Representative Brandon Lear accused China of wanting to hack “our data and intellectual property,” saying that “the time has come to confront the Chinese and ban TikTok” because of the danger this application poses to “health and safety, especially among the younger ones.”

"TikTok allows and encourages dangerous challenges, like throwing things at moving vehicles or overusing drugs," Lear added.

Democratic lawmakers opposed to the new law said during its debate on Thursday that many of the criticisms directed at TikTok regarding data privacy, spreading misinformation, or harmful health effects (such as addiction and depression), also apply to all social networks.

Zoe Zephyr, a Democratic representative from Montana, said, "There is a big gap between the serious challenges associated with this issue (...) and the lack of experience in this House."

She noted that Montana residents will still be able to download the application simply by approaching the border with neighboring states or by using virtual private networks (VPNs) that allow access to Internet services from servers registered in other locations.

"Banning TikTok is unconstitutional in terms of freedom of expression, unenforceable because it excludes ISPs and VPNs, and is driven by provisions of the law," ACLU's local branch official, the influential civil rights advocacy organization Keegan Medrano, wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. anti-Chinese prejudices.

The text mentions the fines imposed on the violating companies, but not on the users. Apple and Google did not immediately respond to AFP's questions.

And the law will be nullified if TikTok is acquired from a country that is not considered an enemy of the United States.

The White House finally encouraged TikTok to search for this type of solution by seeking to conclude an acquisition deal for an American company, if it wanted to stay in the United States.

Trade and political tensions with China have fueled, for months, growing wariness of US officials and public opinion towards the Chinese government.

Flying a supposed Chinese spy balloon in February, especially over Montana, didn't help.

"I don't know if this law would have been passed had it not happened," said Andrew Celebak, a professor specializing in media at the University of Florida.

The Joe Biden administration is discussing several bills with Congress to ban the application, including a law called the "Restrict Act" ("Restriction Act").

But this latest provision, unlike the law adopted in Montana, goes much further than banning TikTok, according to Andrew Celebak, as it "gives more powers to the government to monitor the activities of Americans on social networks."

"I think that law proposals that focus solely on TikTok are more likely to succeed," Celebak explains.

TikTok has for years denied accusations of spying on its users for China.

Company president Xu Qiu, who testified before Congress in March, highlighted the means used by TikTok to store all US user data exclusively within the United States.

"We don't believe you," Cathy McMorris Rodgers, chair of a powerful parliamentary committee, told him. "ByteDance owes allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party, and ByteDance and TikTok are two sides of the same coin," she said.

Another Ramadan is over.. and the Ramadan cannon in Nablus is forcibly silent

The blessed month of Ramadan is nearing its end, while the nostalgia of the people of Nablus and its suburbs remains for the sound of the Ramadan cannon , which was silenced by the occupation for decades, replacing the sound of joy and joy with the advent of Ramadan and the dates of Iftar and Suhoor, with the sound of bullets and bombs that spread death, terror and stifle breath.

The Ramadan cannon in Nablus has turned into a mere piece of souvenir, and it ended up silent and sad with its bow, in the yard of the Nablus municipality firefighter in the center of the city.

"People still come to the fire brigade building to see the cannon and take souvenir photos next to it, and to relive old memories," said the director of the Nablus Fire Department, Sultan Al-Minawi.

He added that they are working in the fire brigade to paint, maintain and maintain the cannon continuously, beautifying it with decorations and lights with the advent of the month of Ramadan every year, and introducing visitors to this important historical and heritage symbol.

And Al-Minawi added, "We hope to restart this cannon, and we seek to do so, but the matter is not easy, and we need many measures taken by the city's institutions, which would pressure the occupation to lift the restrictions it imposes on its use in this holy month and holidays as well."

In light of the current situation in the city, the idea of restarting this cannon must be reserved until a postponed time. His return became an awaited dream, as it was like an alarm clock during the days of the holy month, and citizens eagerly await hearing it.

The people of the city have always used to gather in the square where the cannon is located - according to Al-Minawi -, and among them were those who were standing behind the windows of their homes in preparation to watch the firing process at sunset, marking the end of the fasting period, while an atmosphere full of joy and pleasure prevailed among them, and the children chanted songs and chanted loudly, then they returned to their homes .

He added: "Al-Tubjiyya (a Turkish word meaning the people assigned to fire the cannon) would fire the shells after giving them a signal according to the correct time from the assigned timer. They would fire seven artillery shells when the crescent of the month of Ramadan was sighted, while one shell would be fired at the time of each iftar or suhoor during the days of the month." And when the crescent of Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha are established, they fire seven shells, welcoming its advent, and one shot when every call to prayer is raised during the days of Eid.

Al-Minawi indicates that the Ramadan cannon went through successive historical stages, beginning with the Ottoman era, when the Nablus Municipality assumed the task of operating it, and moved it from the northern hill to the courtyard of the National Hospital to be fired there, and worked on maintaining it and repairing its wheels to facilitate its transportation, and it also provided all the necessary shells. cutting cloth and gunpowder.

This cannon changed more than once - according to Al-Minawi - but its last location dates back to the British Mandate period, specifically during 1947.

After the outbreak of the first Palestinian Intifada in 1987, the Israeli occupation issued a decision banning the use of gunpowder, which the cannon does not work without, so it stopped at that time for long periods, then returned to work after the advent of the Palestinian Authority in 1995, and fireworks were used instead of gunpowder.

Unfortunately; The joy of the people did not last long, as the cannon stopped working again with the beginning of the second Palestinian Intifada in 2000 due to the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation on its firing. For security reasons.

It is worth noting that the use of cannons in Ramadan is a tradition followed in a number of historical Islamic cities, including Nablus, Jerusalem, Damascus and Cairo. This is to determine the time of breaking the fast and inform the fasting public of that time, taking into account the geographical distance between mosques and places where the call to prayer is not heard at that time.

Japanese PM resumes election campaign after being evacuated after 'smoke bomb' explosion

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida resumed his election campaign activity Saturday after being interrupted by an explosion as he prepared to deliver a speech in the west of the country, local media reported.

This incident came nine months after the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during an election rally last July, which caused shock in Japan and abroad and prompted the authorities to review security measures.

"A loud explosion was heard (...) the police are investigating the details. I would like to apologize for the people's anxiety," Kishida said in the early afternoon local time in front of Wakayama station, just a few kilometers from the accident site.

"We are in the midst of an important election campaign for the country, and we must work together to make it a success," he added.

Kishida is taking part in another afternoon rally in Chiba, near Tokyo.

The prime minister was scheduled to deliver a speech in the coastal city of Saikazaki on Saturday morning in support of his party's candidate for a by-election, and had just tasted local fish when the crowds were stampeded.

Several media outlets, including Kyodo news agency, reported that a device resembling a "smoke bomb" was thrown, and television footage showed movement among the gathered crowds, before an explosion was heard, followed by white smoke.

The public television station "NHK" broadcast scenes showing police officers fixing a person on the ground while the crowd dispersed, and stated that a man was arrested in the place on suspicion of "obstructing commercial activity."

The authorities have not issued any official confirmation yet, while the police declined to comment.

A woman who was present at the scene told the TV station, "I ran quickly and after about ten seconds I heard a loud noise and my child started screaming. I was in shock. My heart is still racing."

Another person told the same station that panic gripped the crowds before the sound of the explosion, when someone said he saw another person throwing an explosive device.

"It is unfortunate that such an incident occurred in the midst of an election campaign that forms the basis for a democratic system. This is an unforgivable atrocity," said Hiroshi Moriyama, the LDP's electoral strategy chief.

And Japan strengthened security measures after the assassination of Shinzo Abe, who was shot while delivering a speech in the context of an election campaign as well.

The security measures surrounding Abe's participation were light, and his assassination prompted a deep review of the way political figures are protected.

The national police chief resigned after admitting there were "flaws" in protecting the former prime minister.

The accused murderer, Tetsuya Yanagami, said he targeted Abe because of his possible links to the Mon sect, also known as the Unification Church.

The suspect had complaints about this group, to which his mother apparently made large donations, which led to the bankruptcy of the family.
The new incident came on Saturday, while Japan is hosting this weekend the ministerial meetings of the Group of Seven, while the summit of this group will be held in the Japanese city of Hiroshima in May.

In Sapporo in the north of the country, the US special envoy for climate affairs, John Kerry, expressed his "great concern" after learning of the accident, stressing that Kishida was "a personal friend and I have great appreciation for him."

The Netherlands allows euthanasia for children under the age of 12

The Dutch government has announced that euthanasia for young children suffering from incurable diseases that cause them intolerable suffering will be permitted in the Netherlands , in response to demands raised by Dutch pediatricians for years.

The government explained that this measure concerns a "small group" of five to ten children under the age of twelve a year, for whom "palliative care options are unable to alleviate their suffering."

Dutch Health Minister Ernst Kuipers said, "This matter will concern children with a severe illness or disorder whose end will be inevitable death ... expected in the foreseeable future."

In a letter to Parliament, he stressed that assisted dying would be possible "when it is the only reasonable alternative for a physician to end the child's unbearably severe suffering".

Euthanasia is currently legal in the Netherlands for people over the age of 12 who can give their consent, and for children under one year of age with parental consent.

In February 2014, Belgium became the first country in the world to allow minors "with the ability to discriminate" to opt for euthanasia without age limits.

After re-evaluating the existing rules, the Dutch government also decided to extend assisted termination services "to children between the ages of 1 and 12".

The decision comes after years of controversy, and even faced opposition within the ruling coalition headed by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, which includes two Christian-influenced parties.

The new rules are expected to be published this year, according to the government, and subject to a review a few years after they come into force.

On April 1, 2002, the Netherlands became the first country in the world to allow euthanasia, and Belgium quickly followed suit.

Every year in the Netherlands, an increasing number of people resort to euthanasia, and their number reached 8,700 last year, according to official figures. Most of them suffer from incurable cancer.

Elon Musk establishes the company "XAI", which specializes in artificial intelligence

Last March, Elon Musk founded a new company specializing in artificial intelligence called "X.AI" (X.AI) and is based in Nevada, according to an official document about companies registered in this US state seen by Agence France-Presse.

An article published by the "Financial Times" newspaper, Friday, stated that the new company aims to compete with the emerging "Open AI" company that designed the "Chat GBT" chatbot based on generative artificial intelligence that interacts with humans and can produce all kinds of texts on demand.

The success achieved by this program since its launch at the end of last November has led technology companies to race to provide this technology with advanced capabilities.

Since the end of last February, several specialized media have reported that Elon Musk is investing in the field of artificial intelligence.
And it quoted unnamed sources as saying that Musk recently hired Igor Babushkin and Manuel Kroes, who had previously worked for the “DeepMind” laboratory for artificial intelligence within the “Alphabet” group, the owner of “Google”.

She indicated that Musk recently purchased about ten thousand graphics processors, which are computers necessary to train the language programs on which generative AI systems are based.

This information coincided with Musk signing with hundreds of academics, heads of companies, and personalities at the end of last March a petition in which they called for a six-month cessation of research aimed at finding stronger artificial intelligence techniques than "Chat GPT".

They expressed their fear of the "great dangers this technology poses to humanity," and asked, "Is it intended to develop non-human 'software' that could eventually outpace us in terms of numbers and intelligence and replace us?"

Musk co-founded Open AI in 2015, before leaving the company in 2018. Since 2019, Microsoft has been the main financier of the startup, which is based in California.

The official XAI registration document, dated March 9, 2023, included the name of one director, Elon Musk, and a secretary, Jared Birchall, a former Morgan Stanley banker who manages the billionaire's fortune, according to the Financial Times. .

Prison sentences for 11 members of the PKK in France

The Paris Criminal Court sentenced 11 members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to prison terms ranging from three years, suspended, to five years, one of which was suspended, after convicting them, especially on charges of "extortion" and "financing terrorism."

These Kurds of Turkish origin have been on trial since last week on charges of belonging to a "network" charged with collecting "revolutionary brothers" to finance the PKK, among the Kurdish diaspora in southeastern France.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is engaged in an insurgency that has been going on for decades in Turkey, and Ankara classifies it as the European Union and the United States as a "terrorist" organization.

And the court in Paris considered that these "collected large sums of money" by exerting "pressure" and "threats of ostracism from the community" in the event of non-payment.

And like four of them while they are arrested and four while they are at large, while two of them did not attend. Two men will remain in prison, while two others will soon be summoned to serve their sentences.

Throughout the trial, defense attorneys sought to refute the term "terrorism".

In particular, they denounced the "complete ambiguity" of the French state in its relationship with the Kurds, who are considered "allies" in the fight against the Islamic State and "terrorists" when they are fighting in Turkey.

"There is no doubt that elements and supporters of the PKK participated on the Iraqi-Syrian front and fought jihadist groups," said the president of the court, Muriel Deseraux.

She added, "A number of violent attacks and movements were attributed to the Kurdistan Workers' Party in Turkey," also referring to "violent acts" in France (such as vandalizing buildings or cars belonging to representatives of the Turkish state).

However, in an indication of the complexities of the matter, the court supported the Public Prosecution's request and did not decide to prevent them from being on French soil, a decision usually taken in terrorism cases, based on the "refugee status" enjoyed by the majority of the defendants.
Prosecutor Xavier Laurent confirmed that "the danger they faced in Turkey is proven."

Rafael Kempf, one of the defense attorneys, regretted maintaining the "terrorist" designation, which will have repercussions for one of his clients, "who may lose refugee status and be returned to Turkey," where an eight-year prison sentence awaits him on charges of terrorism.

Defense lawyer Martin Michan also confirmed, "It is difficult to understand that the French judiciary continues to classify the PKK as a terrorist organization. This is a decision based on political considerations, not legal ones."

All days will remain for Jerusalem with its Muslim and Christian people

حديث القدس

حديث القدس

Opinion Writer

They talk about International Al-Quds Day, and celebrations and marches took place in dozens of countries and hundreds of cities on this occasion, and all participants affirmed their solidarity and support for this city and their rejection of any prejudice to its historical reality.

One day is not enough to offer respect, appreciation and defense of Jerusalem, but all days are for this unparalleled city and all days must be expressions of appreciation and praise for it. It means everything to the essence of the Christian religion and took its name from the resurrection of Christ from the dead.

In these days, the last Friday of the blessed month of Ramadan is celebrated, just as the Orthodox churches celebrate Good Friday, Light Saturday and Glorious Easter. Thus, Islamic and Christian religious holidays are celebrated in about one week.
Thus, the unity between Muslims and Christians deepens on the religious level, and it is the one that deepens strongly on the political and national level strongly and continuously, despite what we see of divisions between partisan forces and narrow factional interests.

Support for Jerusalem on its day does not come with mere speeches and statements, but rather with the Palestinian presence and actions that support this presence and this city.

And the occupation, as is its habit and nature, does not stop taking measures to impede access to Christian and Islamic religious places, and they set up military checkpoints at the entrances to the Old City and at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, and the whole city in general.

The Israeli authorities also ignored that this day is the international day for Jerusalem and its victory and for all of Palestine.

However, all these measures did not prevent about 250,000 Muslims from reaching the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and praying in its courtyards, and they will not prevent Christians from praying in their holy places, no matter how severe and unjustified all their arbitrary and unjustified steps and measures are. And Jerusalem will remain the eternal capital of Palestine, and its minarets will continue to ring with the call to prayer, and the bells of its churches will ring loudly.

Illusions will find an end

مروان اميل طوباسي

مروان اميل طوباسي

There is no doubt that all the peoples of the earth, since the beginning of life, created their myths, formed their beliefs, and set their laws and theological beliefs, except in one case in which the opposite happened, and that is the case of the Jewish community in the Israeli colonial occupation state, which was created and existed according to its myths and endless illusions, which are the illusions of the “Kingdom” Greater Israel", these illusions of a number of historians and thinkers are the basis upon which the idea of establishing the Jewish religious state was based. In order for this hope or illusion to be realized, the thinkers and priests of this group had to first set geographical borders for this alleged state or homeland, and from here they resorted to myth, then they had to create an ancient history for this state, so they resorted again to myth, and so myth was the haven for creating all The foundations of their state and their illusions, including the illusion of the Jewish people, which they do not want an end to.

It was stated in the book Critical Study of the Theology of Israeli Racism, "that, although religious visions are one of the determinants of the expansionist security strategies of the occupying state, and in which the mythical is mixed with the real and the past and the present, where their history becomes a theology and their theology is a history based on the conviction of the founders and leaders of colonial Israel that they are the heirs of the ancient kingdom of David and Solomon .

That the theology of Israeli racism as a “sacred energy” affects with its power and racial uniqueness what is “unholy among the non-Jews” from the point of view of their distorted conviction becomes a justification for inequality, exploitation and wars, and gives the psychological justification for the behavior of the Israeli Jews towards others, especially our Palestinian people.

This expresses a part of the justifications for what is happening today, not only from the circles of the religious Zionist parties, but from all the Zionists who succeeded to the governments of their state. However, despite the idea of their supremacy and the ethnic purity of the Jews in whom they believe, there is a diversity of cultural and ethnic levels of Jewish groups and Jewish individuals whose mental and cultural levels vary according to the societies in which they lived before the Zionist movement implemented its plan by pushing them to separate from their societies in which they lived, whether European or Arab. And the arrangement of their settlement immigration to Palestine, and this is one of the aspects on which the division between them is based.

Now, this ethnic disparity and difference of national origin on the one hand, and between those fundamentalist religious Zionist and secular liberal currents on the other hand, constitutes the interface of the dispute and conflict that exists today between their components, in addition to the factor of class differences that began to widen in Israeli Jewish society without being the cause of those conflicts. The subject of oppression of our people or the continuation of colonial occupation.

Describing the conflict today or limiting it to Jerusalem for its historical and political importance along with its religious Arab heritage meanings for us, or highlighting it as a religious struggle over the entitlement and identity of the holy places only constitutes a great danger that leads to being dragged behind their own religious justifications, as well as obscuring the reality of the struggle for existence on the ground and the meaning and essence of it. Zionism, and hinders the exposing of the racist occupation state as an integrated whole and the resistance of its policies as a settler-replacement entity in all of Palestine with an expansionist function and as a strategic colonial base for the West.

The escalating Israeli occupation measures aimed at imposing restrictions in order to prevent our people from accessing the places of worship in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and participating in the ceremonies for the Sabbath of the Appearance of Light from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher this Saturday, which coincided with the occupation measures in storming the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and practicing the worst forms of repression During the month of Ramadan and before, the settlers’ incursions aimed at confirming their alleged Talmudic biblical vision, on which the Zionist idea was based mainly.
Therefore, attempts to agree on determining the numbers of worshipers and prayer times serve only the idea of spatial and temporal division, which gives a right to those who do not have it according to the facts of history and our presence on this earth.

Now, the various political changes taking place in the world and the start of reaching a new world order may bring justice to the peoples and their rights that were absent from American hegemony, and the true, racist, fascist image of the occupying state that was shown by the most extreme Zionist religious right-wing government in front of the friends of their state and even in front of liberal Jewish communities around the world and the exposure of liberal policies The abhorrent apartheid in the eyes of international public opinion has contributed, in addition to undermining the so-called common values between the United States and the occupying state, following the decisions of the Netanyahu government and the subsequent support of the United States to the opposition circles with the aim of saving and protecting the occupying state, which the American administration still needs as a reliable strategic ally. After its withdrawal from some areas of tension in the region on the one hand, and the speed of transformations and biases in the form of inter-Arab political relations themselves and with Iran on the other hand, the end of the Syrian boycott, the end of the Yemen war, and the emergence of new alliances after the rise of China and Russia to the forefront of the international scene, in addition to the expansion of the BRICS alliance and groupings. The new economic situation around the world, and the beginning of European demands for the independence of its political positions away from the vision of the American strategy, which is suffering a real crisis due to its proxy war with Ukraine and the decline in the status of its economy.

All these reasons are added, of course, to the escalation of the crisis and the erosion of the Israeli Jewish community and its complexities, the emergence of the problems of the security establishment, and the emergence of some signs of weakness in its deterrent power in the face of what may develop on the military side as a result of the political biases in the region after all the ongoing rapprochements ahead.

That all of this has put big question marks on how the direction of progress or decline in the role of the occupying state and its geopolitical position, and even raises doubts among their circles about the possibility of completing the implementation of their Zionist project in the face of the new situation in the region and pushes towards the emergence of factors of frustration and adverse immigration, contrary to what their vision was betting on. We have been devastated by the devastating frustration of our national liberation project.

In my opinion, this now constitutes an appropriate opportunity for us to mobilize our role and restore all our strengths as a national liberation movement to liquidate the essence of their racist colonial project, which requires building on the current changes, but before that restoring the confidence of our people in the components of their national struggle and expanding it to include all spectrums of our Palestinian society according to a clear vision, program and leadership tools It has influence, by implementing what the President previously announced of a call for a comprehensive national dialogue, as well as developing a state of influential and courageous action on all regional and international arenas to confront any attempts to tamper with the arena of our independent national decision and move away from the mirage of American economic and security solutions. As well as expanding the base of mass participation necessary to protect this through the democratic and popular activation of the role of our institutions and the holding of general elections, including in Jerusalem, as a natural right for all our people and as a weapon before the international community at a time when fascism is now practicing theocratic dictatorship in the colonial occupation state that is losing its status.

Towards Palestinian Unity Awakening

This Palestinian flow, a quarter of a million, from all locations and places, towards Al-Aqsa Mosque to perform the last Friday prayer of Ramadan, April 14, is faith, decision, position and bias. And what it represents of religious, heritage and national values, and the second is to thwart and disrupt the colony’s programs to impose Judaization, Israelization and Hebraism on Jerusalem and its sanctities.

The behavior of the colony in dealing with everything that is Arab, Palestinian, Muslim, and Christian, aggressive, racist, unilateral behavior by insulting, harming, and denying the right of Palestinians, Muslims and Christians, to practice their rituals and prove their presence on their sanctities: Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, and the churches of the Nativity, the Resurrection, and the Annunciation, integrated and interconnected that confirm Palestinian land and human beings, Muslims and Christians.

They attacked the rights of Palestinian Christians from arriving from various Palestinian regions, to perform their religious duties, and to practice their rites, at the Churches of the Resurrection and the Nativity, during the days of Eid, to realize the tools of the colony that when Christians do so, just like Muslims, their motives are interconnected, integrated, religious and national, in confrontation Occupation and colonization, and a rejection of Judaization, Israelization and Hebrewness.

The tools of the colony, the settlers, politically and religiously, practiced moral and ethical degradation against Christians in various forms of violating dignity by “spitting” on Christian clergymen and women, as a sign of organized incitement, and hidden and declared hatred against the other, against Christians and Muslims, which confirms that the Palestinian conflict The Israeli, the Arab-Hebrew, is not a struggle over a "hakoura", a mosque, a street or a neighborhood, but rather a struggle between two fundamentally clashing projects: between the pluralistic Palestinian national democratic project, in the face of the unilateral racist expansionist colonial project.

The struggle of the Palestinians against the colony achieves cumulative results, starting with the population demographic factor, where the colony strategically failed to expel, displace, and banish all the Palestinian people from their homeland. Its project and imposition by force, even if the colony possessed superiority in various forms and multiple tools.

The colony fuels the division between "Fatah" and "Hamas" between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and is betting on its continuation as a gift to be presented to the occupation in return for preserving the divided and clashing powers of Ramallah and Gaza.

It is a religious war... although we do not seek it

هيثم جابر

Throughout the history of the Arab conflict with the occupier and colonizer, we did not fight these strangers on the basis of the religion they profess, even if they raised the banner of this religion in order to exploit it for colonial goals, as the Crusaders did, when they raised the banner of liberating the Holy House and religious slogans to hide their colonial and occupation goals for our Arab and Islamic lands. When we resisted the crusaders, we did not resist them because they are Christians or profess the religion of Jesus Christ, but rather we resisted them because they are colonial crusaders who raised religious slogans in order to justify their occupation and colonization of our country. Resistance to the occupier of Arab and Muslim countries, whether this occupier is in Palestine, Iraq, Syria, or any other Arab and Islamic country that the colonizer entered by force of arms to colonize our land and oppress our people.

We have no problem as Arabs, Muslims and Palestinians with any religion whatsoever. We are here in Palestine resisting the Zionists because they are occupiers and because the Zionist movement is a colonial movement that exploits the Jewish religion in order to unite the occupiers and give them the status of a people in this land in which they have nothing to do but that they are occupied. Its land and people by force of arms, with the support of the Crusader West, who planted this occupier in the heart of the nation in order for the Arab Islamic nation to remain fragmented and torn, so that it cannot stand. Palestinian. These are the ones who are fighting us because we are Muslims and they want this war to take on a religious character so that they can connect many Zionist and Jewish terrorist organizations in the world behind them, in addition to the organizations of the "Zionist Messiah" who believes that supporting the Zionist movement is an urgent necessity in order to hasten the emergence of Christ and fight the battle of Megiddo according to their beliefs And their sorcery. The attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque every time and on every religious and Zionist occasion are only in this context. The incursions into Al-Aqsa are not just tourist visits or innocent entry, as they used to claim in the past. Today, they openly pray in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and declare their intention to demolish the Dome of the Rock, which they believe is standing in the place of their alleged temple. So, those who want to harm our Arab faith are these strange charlatans. Al-Aqsa is part of our Islamic faith, and it is the third mosque to which one travels, and it is a pure and exclusive mosque for Muslims only. To demolish the Dome of the Rock and erect the alleged Temple in its place. But why do some people weep and warn of war, even though we do not want it and do not seek it, as I mentioned above? Why is the fear of a religious war in which the loser is known? If the sons of this Islamic nation unite to defend its sanctities, the losers will be the Zionist charlatans who live in the minds of the "hill thugs" and others, falsely delusional of the Promised Land, "the Greater Land of Israel".

Here, the nation of a billion Muslims should not fear a terrorist group that embraces false, deviant and misleading beliefs, but rather they are the ones who should fear us, the nation of a billion Muslims. But our problem is not the Jews of the world who practice their rituals and religion far from the Zionist thought. Rather, there are some who oppose this racist, terrorist, occupying thought, such as the Jewish "Naturi Karta" movement, which has representatives and members in the Palestinian National Council and does not recognize what is called "Israel" until today and opposes Its establishment is from its origin, and it has expressed solidarity on many occasions with our people and their legitimate rights. Our problem is with the colonialists and occupiers, which we consider to be a political problem par excellence. But if the enemy wants it to be a religious war, then we are the first people who should be proud and proud of their religion and expend the precious and precious things in order to support our religion, our faith, our ultimate destination, and our path, which is the core of our great faith.

If they want it to be a religious war, then so be it... This should not scare us, but rather the Zionists who should be afraid. There is no need to weep and appeal to the world and warn them against the religious war that the Zionists seek, with my assertion that our war with the colonial occupiers is a war to liberate land and people and a political issue par excellence, not religious.

We respect the heavenly religions, their messengers, and their prophets, and the belief of a Muslim is not valid unless he respects the heavenly religions, their prophets, and their messengers, but we do not fear wars and confronting the occupier and raging, even if some wanted it to take on a religious character.

Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa between fatigue and frustration

بكر أبوبكر

بكر أبوبكر

Opinion Writer

Every Ramadan, the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque intensifies by crowds or groups from a number of extremist religious Jewish organizations, especially for this month, which is the month of fasting and i’tikaaf in the third holiest spot for Muslims in the world, and what is clear is that it is an intended and planned religious provocation process to fabricate violent events and as a prelude to religious war as soon as Storming the mosque among the crowds of worshipers in the holy month and attributed to the worshipers.

Extremist Jewish organizations in the settlements and in Jerusalem, linked to the "alleged Temple" and the need to build it in place of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, are those interested in flooding Jerusalem and all of Palestine through settlers, and the mosque with attacks and repeated incursions to perpetuate the fait accompli, a part of which the Arab and Muslim nation accepts today with humiliating surrender!

The continuous aggression comes within the scheme of these religious organizations - which have become fully supported by actors from the right-wing government and with Netanyahu's reassurance and approval - with clear features to complete the spatial division of the mosque, as they were actually able to extract time in it, which is the visit or storming of legislators under the eyes and ears of the Arab and Islamic world .

Every Ramadan, the official Israeli government, led by the tired Netanyahu, tries to give Ramadan the characteristic of violence and terrorism, ignoring the source of violence and repeated terrorism represented by its non-stop actions (the government, the army, and the colonizers) throughout the West Bank and Gaza, as if it is not a direct incitement, but an act of aggression that brings a reaction. The natural Palestinian resistance, whether in the place of its occurrence or in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

This tiring situation, whether from the actions of the government, the settlers, or the gangs of destroying Al-Aqsa Mosque affiliated with the religious right and others, provoked secular Jews who feared a defection to two secular and religious states, so mass demonstrations took place in Tel Aviv and elsewhere, and of course the background to the facts also lies in what is happening from the occupation in West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem.

Roger Alpher says in "Haaretz": "Netanyahu is tired, for nearly 30 years he is tiring us, and he is the machine that does not stop... This is torture, especially for his opponents... We are tired of his tragedy, even if it appears sometimes that he is tired himself." He adds that we are tired of many things, which he enumerates, including: "It is tiring to be a Jew. Jerusalem is tiring with irrationality. The Temple Mount (it is the Al-Aqsa Mosque with an area of 144,000 square meters) is tiring... and foresight is tiring. It is tiring to be smart... to live on This sword's edge is tiring...Let us live."

As for Amos Harel, he refers to Palestinian fatigue in a different way, which is, in his text, Palestinian frustration, as he says: “Palestinian frustration has accumulated in recent years, with the endless occupation, the weakness of the Palestinian Authority, the continuous feeling of economic pressure and the absolute absence of a political horizon. The fuel for ignition was provided by the strips ( Films) that came from Al-Aqsa Mosque, in which two violent stormings were documented.

Between Israeli fatigue on the one hand, and Palestinian frustration on the other, the foundations of Palestinian resistance to this endless occupation multiply, and the dreams of extremist Jewish religious currents grow, especially with the arrival of a number of their leaders to positions of ministry and absolute power as they see it.

Jerusalem was and will remain, as the late President Yasser Arafat used to say, is the key to war, and it is the key to peace. It is the one that can get rid of fatigue and frustration, and through a small gap, a glimmer of light may appear at the end of the tunnel, otherwise the flood may come at any time.

This is the question/concern that occupies the minds of Arab thinkers these days, as they clearly see the preparation of this Chinese, Russian, Iranian boat, waiting for zero hour to set off in the waves of a sea that still seems to be heavy.

There is no doubt that all those concerned with thought, opinion and belief, more than others, want the Arab nation in its great Arab homeland to board that boat, and even to have a place in its leadership, so that it is sufficient for it to be humiliated, disintegrated, humiliated, and meek that lasted for more than a thousand years, since the Umayyad conflict Over the caliphate in Damascus, then the Abbasid conflict in Baghdad, then the kings of the sects in Andalusia, and the Mamluks in Egypt, then the Ottoman Sultanate that lasted for about five hundred years, then the white European colonialism that divided the spoils between Britain, France, Italy and Spain, and finally America, which laid its hand on the capabilities of This enormous homeland, once through direct colonialism, as in the invasion of Iraq twenty years ago, or indirectly, as in the Gulf, or infighting and self-warfare, as in Syria, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Sudan, and Yemen. And it came to an American writer to ask: Who planted our oil under their sands? That is, the oil is theirs and the sand is ours.

At the beginning of the third millennium, twenty-three years ago, some of these intellectuals and thinkers directed explicit calls not to allow the Arabs to enter the new millennium, neither with the left man nor with the right man, as long as they enter it with slippers and dishdasha, the cave mentality, and the Arab woman lacking in reason and religion. It was created only for childbearing and cooking, and belonging to the past much more than the present and the future, until it came to rule the living dead, the collector the university, the rich the poor, the male the female, and bequeathing power in perpetuity, until we had Mohammed III, Abdullah VI, Hassan II and Al Khalifa The ninth...etc. Within ten years of the beginning of the millennium, ISIS, al-Nusra, al-Qaeda, al-Zarqawi, al-Baghdadi, and the emir of the group exploded, beheadings, enslaving women, and jihad marriages in a way that shames humanity in its third, second, and first millenniums, and even before birth and history.

This Arab turn that we are witnessing these days, and which we certainly commend, towards self-reconciliation is not enough. We have never understood the real, scientific reasons for their differences, between Syria and Saudi Arabia, for example, or between Bahrain and Iran, or between Yemen and the Emirates, or even between Sunnis and Shiites. Except for the colonial policy of "divide and rule", until the matter came to the Palestinians, whose country is subject to settler and uprooting colonialism, to separate, differ and divide while they were still at the height of the task of liberating their homeland. Only a few years had passed since they entered the new millennium at that time.

How do we win without war?

الدكتور ناجي صادق شراب

The title of the article is inspired by the title of US President Richard Nixon's book "Victory Without War". After Israel's defeat in the 1973 war, the US president believed that military confrontation was a risk, and that superiority in armaments did not mean a guarantee of victory. He wrote his aforementioned book. His main idea was based on the question: How do we win without war? No price. One of the effective weapons, according to Nixon, is launching an intensive media campaign against the enemy, and the other weapon, which is no less important than the first, is possessing the forefront of science and technology and preventing that from the enemy, and the enemy in its concept is one who refuses to obey. By science, germ warfare is meant. On the other hand, the American writer Joseph Nye answered this question with soft power, which is no longer the monopoly of major powers only, but all countries and peoples possess this power and vary in its degrees. This question applies to Arab-Israeli relations, and is being raised today at the Palestinian-Israeli level. Was war as an option succeeded in resolving the conflict in favor of one of the two parties? In the Arab world, war has dominated relations, so we witnessed five wars that did not achieve their goal, as it is said that war is an extension of politics, and the 1973 war may be a translation of this saying that it ended with the signing of peace agreements between Egypt and Israel after Egypt succeeded in regaining its land in the Sinai that Israel occupied in the 1967 war And to open the door to peace treaties with more than one Arab country. The conviction in these treaties is that war is not the best option for any party to end the conflict. Neither Israel is able to defeat the Arab countries, nor the Arab countries are able to defeat Israel because of the alliance and the American commitment to the security and survival of Israel. Not to mention that these wars cost huge material and human losses, which explains the economic problems that the region is suffering from today. This is on the Arab side, and what about the Palestinian and Israeli sides? First: The Israeli force cannot be compared to the military force possessed by the Palestinian resistance factions. Second: The concept of war does not apply to the Palestinian-Israeli situation, in the sense that Israel, with the power it possesses, can destroy all the Palestinian lands, and on its part the resistance today, with its relatively advanced weapons, and by virtue of the geographical contiguity, can inflict great losses on Israel, meaning that we are facing a model and the option of demolishing the temple. over everyone's heads. Third: The military option on the Palestinian level requires budgets and large financial spending that is not available, and if it is available in a limited amount, it will be at the expense of spending and economic structure, which means high poverty and unemployment. One of the conditions for a successful war is to provide a strong economic and social structure capable of withstanding. Fourth: Geographical determinants, land unity, overlapping, and demographic overlaps turn war into a destructive option. What confirms these hypotheses is that Israel has launched four wars on Gaza, causing it great damage, increasing the rate of poverty and unemployment to more than fifty percent, and turning the Palestinian people in Gaza into an unproductive dependent people waiting for aid. Also, Israel, despite its great power that exceeds the capabilities of other countries, cannot take the option of war far.

The question is what is the alternative to war?... The answer is found in the book "The Art of War" by the Chinese strategist Sun Tzu, who wrote it 2,500 years ago. In the book, he sets time stages for defeating the opponent, and says: The best way to defeat the opponent is to nullify and corrupt all that he represents in terms of sayings, narratives, values, and ethics. And not to be left to live as he wants, and to give advice to pretend to be weak when you are strong, and to pretend to be strong when you are weak. And he gives advice to the Palestinian case, when he is comfortable, start by exhausting him, and do not let him be comfortable. For his part, the Soviet Yuri Bezinov, believes that the conflict goes through four stages, the first is the overthrow of morals, which is a stage that needs 15-20 years, and the second is destabilization and requires 2-5 years. What is meant here is to stoke ethnic and sectarian strife, then the stage of crisis, which may result in a civil war.

Far from this chronology and its application to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the lesson here is the general meaning of these stages that we see today in Israel and what it suffers from internal crises that threaten its survival and existence. The key to defeating Israel is from the inside and not from the outside. The outside unites Israel and the inside highlights the contradictions within it.

The Palestinians possess many elements of soft power and alternative options and approaches to war, the first of which is the demographic component and how to maintain its steadfastness and roots in its land. The second is the strength of historical and civilizational rights that affirm the Palestinian right. The third is the strength of international legitimacy and its activation. The fourth is the establishment of a consensual democratic political system. The fifth is the activation of the role of Arab and Islamic communities in many countries, especially America, which we see some of the harbingers of change and support for the Palestinian side, and we have an example of that. Representatives of Palestinian origins in the US Congress, the sixth is restoring the status of the Palestinian cause in the Arab world and internationally, and the seventh is employing Arab peace to end the occupation by giving Israel the choice between peace and war. The eighth is adopting the one-state option by exposing the racism of Israeli policies and the illusion of Israeli democracy. It remains that if the Palestinians possessed nuclear power, it would not achieve peace for them. Rather, building peace with the strength of previous approaches and options is sufficient to create pressure forces on Israel and make the occupation costly and its price is high through popular peaceful resistance. Finally, how do we make the power of peace defeat the peace of power.

Will the Saudi-Iranian agreement continue?

After the restoration of Iranian-Saudi diplomatic relations, confusion within Israel appears in the face of dwindling opportunities to promote normalization between Tel Aviv and Riyadh.

The Saudi-American relations deteriorated after the advent of the Democrats, as Saudi Arabia began to look at its security, military and economic interests in light of the regional and international changes, in addition to strengthening the vision of the dimensions of the threats around it, the first of which is the Iranian threat that was planted by the American and Israeli media.

Since the Saudi and Iranian agreement will achieve Saudi gains in regional files in the region, but will the agreement continue if changes occur in the region?

The Israeli position regarding the Saudi and Iranian agreement was not officially demonstrated by Netanyahu, as most of his statements were against the Iranian threat, without mentioning the repercussions of the Saudi and Iranian agreement on Israel.

However, the Israeli opposition was able to use the agreement in the framework of the political attack on Netanyahu, as Lapid indicated that the agreement represents a complete failure and a danger to Israeli foreign policy, and that this is considered the collapse of the regional defense wall that was built against Iran.

The opposition also pointed out that the agreement is a complete failure for Israel due to the internal division and Netanyahu's inability to solve his internal and security problems. The opposition considered that the division is one of the reasons for the Arab countries' tendency to strengthen their alliances within the new regional and international changes away from Israel.

This matter has repercussions for Israel, as it was concerned with promoting normalization and forming an Arab-American-Israeli army alliance against Iran, but the Saudi and Iranian agreement led to the retraction of this step, and instead of imposing a blockade on Iran by Israel and America, it has now become a blockade on Israel after the end of the hypothesis The Iranian "bogeyman" in the region.

The agreement will contribute to solving the problems of the region, the first of which is Yemen, then Syria, then Iraq. This is what Israel does not want, as it was concerned with keeping wars going on in the region to consolidate Israel's hegemony in the region.

The agreement changed all international calculations, as it constituted a shift in the geopolitical equation in the Middle East region and the reintegration of Iran after being economically besieged, which made the Iranian threat to Israel more present and focused.

Not only that, the Israeli concern is not only from Iran, but also from China, America's only competitor in the region, as China's success in crystallizing the Saudi and Iranian agreement means that it has a security and political impact in addition to the economic dimension, and the continuation of the agreement depends on the extent of the commitment of the two parties and the extent of China's ability Influencing the continuation of the agreement, specifically that America has now become clear that the deep state wants to bring back Trump, and this means that Saudi-American relations may return to normal, and the return of relations means re-introducing the idea of Saudi-Israeli normalization.

Trump's trial sessions sparked widespread controversy in political circles in American society in particular that Trump indicated that the court whose members are from the Democratic Party is politicized, which made Trump's Republican supporters began to mobilize financial and media support in favor of Trump until opinion polls (TG) came out and indicated Until Trump's popularity among Republicans and independents reached (56) percent, while the (YouGaf) poll showed that his popularity reached (52) percent, just as the US Constitution does not hinder an individual's candidacy for the presidency, even if he is accused of several files.

Trump’s return will restore different calculations from the current situation, so will the Saudi and Iranian agreement remain, or will Saudi Arabia seek to focus on its interests and use the policy of holding the stick from the middle to protect its security, geopolitical and economic interests? Specifically, Saudi Arabia has become fully aware that Israel is interested in aggravating the Arab-Israeli conflict, and America wants to manage the conflict, while China wants to end the conflict with a diplomatic solution.

Italian Championship: Lazio strengthens its rank by defeating Spezia

Lazio strengthened its rank in the Italian Football League by defeating its host Spezia 3-0 on Friday, as part of the opening of the 30th stage competitions.

The goals of the capital team were scored by Ciro Immobile (36 from a penalty kick), Brazilian Felipe Anderson in front of the goal after a wonderful collective exchange of the ball (52), and his substitute compatriot Marcos Antonio scored his first goal with the team from a counterattack (89).

In light of Napoli's distance from the lead on its way to the first title in the league since 1990, other clubs are competing for the other three seats that qualify for the Champions League, and Lazio appears in a favorable position to snatch one of them.

Coach Maurizio Sarri's team raised its score to 61 points, moving 8 points away from its neighbor and rival, Roma III, which separates it from Milan IV, an orphan point, and the same between the Rossoneri and its neighbor Inter V.

Rome will host Udinese at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday, while Milan will beat Bologna on Saturday and host Inter Monza on the same day.

Lazio kept its record unbeaten in the league for the eighth consecutive match in its quest to return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2020-2021 season.

As for Spezia, who ended the match with ten players after Welshman Ethan Ampadu was sent off in the 84th minute for a second warning, his score froze at 26 points in the seventeenth place, four points away from the first relegation centers.

In another match, Cremonese maintained its chances of staying among the seniors by defeating Empoli 1-0 at home, with the goal of Nigerian Cyril Desire, achieving its second successive victory and only the third in the league this season.

He raised his score to 19 points in the penultimate nineteenth place, while Empoli's balance was frozen at 32 in the fourteenth place.
Cremonese had achieved a surprise in the cup this season by eliminating Napoli and Rome, but it finds itself on the verge of exiting the semi-finals after losing at home in the first leg against Fiorentina 2-0 before the return match after nearly two weeks.
