Lebanon announces thwarting the smuggling of 10 million Captagon tablets to Saudi Arabia

The Lebanese Caretaker Interior Minister, Bassam Mawlawi, announced that he had thwarted the smuggling of about 10 million pills of Captagon from his country to Saudi Arabia via Senegal.

Mawlawi said on his Twitter account, "The Information Division of the Internal Security Forces thwarted the smuggling of about 10 million Captagon pills."

He stated that the smuggling was prepared through a shipment of rubber carbon from Lebanon to Senegal and from there to Saudi Arabia.

He added that the Information Division was able to identify members of the network and the warehouse of goods and drugs in Tripoli, the largest city in northern Lebanon.

The Lebanese authorities have intensified and tightened their efforts to thwart the operations of smuggling the drug Captagon to some Gulf countries after their escalation.

And in April of the year 2021, Saudi Arabia banned the entry of Lebanese vegetables and fruits into the Kingdom or transit through its lands after seizing large quantities of narcotic pills in a shipment of pomegranates coming from Lebanon.
