The group said, “After 200 days of ongoing genocide in Palestine at the hands of the Israeli apartheid government, where at least 34,000 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip, a coalition that includes Stanford students and working organizations such as Stanford Against Apartheid in Palestine, launched the People’s University for Palestine event.” At Stanford."

Stanford Against Apartheid in Palestine explained in a statement, “The effectiveness of the University of the People for Palestine at Stanford stands in firm solidarity first and foremost with the Palestinian people whose resistance lies at the heart of our student-led efforts.”

“Furthermore, we stand with the many pro-Palestine movements on campuses across the country and around the world,” he added.
The demonstrators did not specify how long the demonstration would last, saying only that it would last "more than a day."
