A police officer was injured today (Thursday) after a car crashed into a barrier near the Israeli embassy in Tokyo, according to local media.
Kyodo News Agency said that Tokyo police immediately stopped the driver on suspicion of obstructing public order, noting that the driver is in his fifties and is believed to be a member of a right-wing group.
Video footage broadcast by the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation showed a small black car crashing into the barrier at around 11 a.m. local time at an intersection about 100 meters away from the Israeli embassy.
Roads were cordoned off at the accident site. The Metropolitan Police Department opened an investigation
