Widespread escalation in the West Bank: Injuries from settler bullets and a campaign of raids targeting hospitals and displaced persons' residences

Since Friday night until dawn on Saturday, Israeli occupation forces have launched a series of widespread incursions and raids targeting dozens of towns and villages in various governorates of the occupied West Bank. These field military operations focused on the governorates of Jenin, Nablus, Tubas, Qalqilya, and occupied Jerusalem, where they involved thorough house searches and raids on the residences of displaced persons in the targeted areas amidst an atmosphere of intimidation.

In a serious field development, medical sources affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent reported 8 citizens sustained various injuries, including 6 people injured by live bullets, following an attack by settlers on the residents of the village of Fara'ata, located east of Qalqilya. This assault coincided with the continued Israeli forces' incursion into the Al-Naqqar neighborhood in the city, where they raided citizens' homes and arrested citizen Samir Hourani, while the city of Tubas witnessed a similar military operation that included raiding and searching citizens' properties.

Jenin Governorate received a large share of these violations, as the incursions affected the towns of Zababdeh, Qabatiya, Ya'bad, Faqqu'a, Burqin, Jilbon, and Jalqamus. Local sources reported that the forces raided the residences of displaced persons from Jenin refugee camp near the Arab American University, and arrested two young men, Taye Zakarneh and Jihad Al-Saadi, in addition to a third young man from the same area, amidst acts of vandalism to the contents of the raided homes.

In Nablus Governorate, occupation forces stormed the towns of Beit Furik, Tell, and Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya, where soldiers deliberately fired sound bombs and tear gas to intimidate peaceful residents. The attacks also targeted the village of Qaryut to the south. Field sources confirmed that the invading forces raided Nablus Specialty Hospital in an escalatory measure targeting medical facilities, while intensive military movements were observed in front of the entrance to Qalandia refugee camp and the town of Kafr Aqab was raided north of occupied Jerusalem.

This wave of escalation comes after the occupation army announced the implementation of intensive operational activity in response to the events in the town of Tell, which earlier mourned the bodies of its sons who were killed by occupation bullets on Friday. Large crowds of citizens participated in the funeral amidst a state of anger and extreme tension, especially with the continuation of field pursuits and increasing restrictions imposed by the occupation forces on the movement of citizens between Palestinian governorates.

Military operations extended to include Aqabat Jabr refugee camp south of Jericho and the village of Kober in Ramallah, in addition to the village of Far'un south of Tulkarm, where Israeli forces continued their policy of night raids and arbitrary arrests. Palestinian families in these areas face harsh security conditions amid popular mobilization to confront repeated settler attacks that occur under the direct protection of the occupation army, which portends further deterioration in the field situation.
