The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, Head of the Supreme Ifta Council, Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein , called on citizens to observe the crescent of the month of Shawwal , after sunset on Thursday, Ramadan 29, 1444 AH, corresponding to April 20, 2023 CE.
The Grand Mufti urged everyone who sees the crescent to review the Palestinian Dar Al Iftaa office located in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, or the nearest fatwa department to his area, to testify, with the possibility of contacting one of the following numbers:

He noted that at least two good witnesses are required to prove sighting of the Shawwal crescent, because it is a departure from the worship of fasting.
