The general index of consumer prices, " inflation ", increased in the first three months of the current year 2023, by 3.98 percent, to reach 108.26, compared to 104.11 for the same period last year.
The Department of Statistics said in its monthly report, yesterday, Tuesday, that the most prominent commodity groups that contributed to this increase were fuel and lighting by 31.75 percent, rents by 5.17 percent, transportation by 3.24 percent, dairy products and eggs by 8.73 percent, and health by 6.71 percent.
According to the report, the general consumer price index rose for the month of March of this year, reaching 108.83 compared to 104.73 for the same month of last year, registering an increase of 3.91 percent.
The report indicated that what mainly contributed to that increase were the fuel and lighting group by 31.61 percent, rents by 5.17 percent, transportation by 3.68 percent, dairy products and eggs by 9.50 percent, and health by 6.70 percent.
