Official data released by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed that the photovoltaic energy sector in China recorded strong growth in the first two months of 2023, with growth rates of main products in the industrial chain recorded on an annual basis of about 60 percent.
China produced about 176,000 tons of polysilicon during the reported period, up more than 60 percent over last year, according to the ministry.
The data showed that the production of polysilicon wafers expanded by 78 percent compared to last year.
In the two-month period, the production of crystalline silicon photovoltaics increased by 57.5 percent to 62.2 gigawatts, while the module output increased by 62.2 percent, the ministry added.
