Japanese Prime Minister orders to restart nine nuclear reactors

Tokyo (dpa) - Japanese Prime Minister Fumi Kishida said he had ordered the restart of about nine nuclear reactors to help calm concerns about a potential energy crisis.

"There are concerns about a power shortage this winter," Kishida was quoted by Bloomberg news agency as saying in a press conference today, adding, "We have to prevent such a situation from occurring."

It is noteworthy that Japan suffers from limited electricity supplies due to severe weather, the outage of older power stations from service, and the delay in restarting nuclear reactors that were closed after the Fukushima disaster in 2011.
