China's Jiangsu records strong growth in foreign direct investment in the January-May period

NANJING (Xinhua) -- FDI actually used in east China's Jiangsu Province from January to May reached 17.68 billion US dollars, up 31.5 percent year on year, according to the provincial commerce department.

Jiangsu topped the country in the actual use of foreign direct investment, accounting for 20.2 percent of the total such investment in China during the first five months of the year.

The actual use of foreign direct investment in Jiangsu's manufacturing sector reached 6.48 billion US dollars over the period, up 56.2 percent year on year.

FDI in high-tech industries increased by 43.1 percent year on year, with FDI in the high-tech manufacturing sector increasing by 58.7 percent, while that in the high-tech service industry increased by 27.6 percent in the period.

Jiangsu also saw actual FDI from Belt and Road countries increase by 103.7 percent year on year during the period.
