Major General Natsheh Undergoing Lengthy Interrogation at Moscovia Regarding His Representation of the Palestinian Leadership in Jerusalem

The Israeli intelligence services, this Tuesday afternoon, released Major General Bilal Natsheh, Secretary-General of the National Popular Conference for Jerusalem, following an interrogation that lasted several hours at the "Moscovia" interrogation and detention center in occupied Jerusalem.

According to lawyer Ahmed Safiya, who defended Major General Natsheh, the interrogation sessions focused on his national and social activities in Jerusalem, particularly his representation of His Excellency the President and his deputy, in addition to his follow-up on programs supporting Jerusalemite students and helping them complete their education in Palestinian universities.

Lawyer Safiya clarified that the occupation authorities decided to release Major General Natsheh under restrictive conditions, most notably prohibiting him from engaging in any activity that the Israeli authorities consider to be representing the Palestinian leadership in Jerusalem.

Occupation forces had raided Major General Natsheh's home in the Sharafat neighborhood of Jerusalem yesterday, Monday, but he was not present at home during the raid. His brother was handed a summons requiring him to appear at the "Moscovia" interrogation center this afternoon. He complied with the summons, before undergoing a lengthy interrogation that lasted several hours, ending with his release under the aforementioned conditions.

This measure comes within the context of a continuous Israeli policy targeting national figures, leaders, and Palestinian institutions operating in Jerusalem, through summonses, interrogations, and the imposition of administrative restrictions, as part of efforts to limit any official or national Palestinian presence in the occupied city.

The restrictions imposed by the occupation authorities on Major General Bilal Natsheh are an extension of Israeli measures aimed at reducing the Palestinian political and official presence in East Jerusalem, a city that international law considers part of the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
