Systematic Escalation of Settlement in the West Bank: Arson of Facilities, Electricity Cut, and Siege of Bedouin Communities

The intensity of systematic attacks carried out by settler groups escalated on Sunday in various areas of the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, with these assaults characterized by their diversity and severity. The crimes committed ranged from burning vital commercial establishments to cutting off essential services from citizens' homes, in a clear attempt to tighten the noose on the Palestinian presence.

These attacks are carried out under full cover and direct protection from Israeli occupation army forces, which provide logistical and security support to settlers during their acts of sabotage. This integrated policy aims to terrorize residents and push them towards forced displacement from their lands and historical properties.

In the village of Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus, settlers stormed a restaurant located in a vital area serving students of Al-Zaytoonah University in the early hours of dawn. The attackers smashed the contents of the establishment and stole sums of money inside before setting fire to all its corners, leading to total destruction.

Ya'qoub Owais, head of the village council and owner of the affected restaurant, confirmed that the material losses resulting from the fire are estimated at about one million shekels, representing a severe economic blow. Owais pointed out that this attack is not the first, but rather part of a series of attacks that have targeted homes, vehicles, and olive groves in the area in recent months.

The wave of sabotage moved to the south of Hebron, specifically in the Sha'ab al-Butm area in Masafer Yatta, where the home of citizen Muhammad al-Jabareen was subjected to a provocative intrusion. Settlers engaged in acts of hooliganism in front of family members before cutting the main electricity cable that supplies the house with power.

Media activist Osama Makhamreh explained that Masafer Yatta faces a fierce demographic war aimed at displacing its residents by depriving them of the most basic necessities of life such as water and electricity. Settlers also pursue shepherds daily to prevent them from reaching pastures, coinciding with raids on caves and primitive dwellings of the residents.

In occupied Jerusalem, official sources documented a new attack in the (Al-Ka'abneh Al-Kassarat) gathering near the town of Anata, east of the holy city. One of the settlers deliberately released his flock of sheep among the tents and homes of citizens, leading to a state of tension and completely obstructing movement.

Jerusalem Governorate stated in a communiqué that these actions fall within the policy of 'settler hooliganism' aimed at besieging Bedouin communities and isolating them from their surroundings. Through these practices, the occupation seeks to change the geographical and demographic reality in the eastern part of the occupied capital in favor of settlement expansion.

Official data issued by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission indicate that the number of settlers in the West Bank has exceeded 750,000 settlers. These are distributed across a wide network comprising 141 official settlements, in addition to 224 pastoral and military settlement outposts that form spearheads for seizing more Palestinian lands.

The largest settlement bloc is concentrated in 15 major settlements built on East Jerusalem lands, where about a quarter of a million settlers reside to impose a new reality. This system relies on the integration of roles between extremist field groups and the occupation army to implement the policy of fait accompli and destroy the elements of Palestinian steadfastness.

Attackers smashed doors and stole a sum of money before setting the restaurant on fire, which led to its complete burning and a loss of one million shekels.
