Fidan warns of Israeli attempts to undermine US-Iranian agreement and reveals a quadrilateral regional move

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed that Israel is awaiting any possible opportunity to undermine the understandings recently reached between the United States and Iran. Fidan clarified, in statements made during his official visit to the Egyptian capital Cairo, that there is a tangible political will shown by both the American and Iranian sides to overcome major obstacles, stressing that the intensive work expected in the coming period will play a crucial role in overcoming the remaining difficulties despite continuous Israeli attempts to disrupt this path.

These Turkish warnings come after the signing of a historic memorandum of understanding at the Palace of Versailles in France in mid-June, which included 14 clauses establishing a 60-day transitional phase before the final agreement is concluded. These understandings include American commitments to finance the reconstruction of Iran with an amount of up to 300 billion dollars, in addition to field measures including a ceasefire in Lebanon, lifting the naval blockade on Tehran, and opening the Strait of Hormuz, reflecting a radical shift in US foreign policy towards the region.

Regarding regional moves, Fidan revealed that a lengthy working session was held involving the foreign ministers of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan, with the aim of formulating a unified regional vision for the post-war and current crisis phase. He indicated that these four countries are striving to shape the future of the region in cooperation with the international community, while emphasizing the rejection of any externally imposed perceptions, as work is currently underway to mature this common vision to present it at the appropriate time to ensure regional stability.

In contrast, political circles in Israel are in a state of turmoil, as demands for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's resignation have escalated after the US-Iranian agreement was considered a grave strategic failure for Tel Aviv. Sources reported that intense American pressure had previously prevented an imminent Israeli attack to invade the remaining areas in the Gaza Strip, at a time when Qatari, Omani, and Pakistani mediations succeeded in bringing Washington and Tehran closer despite previous targeting of Iranian infrastructure.

Israel is always watching and waiting for the first opportune moment to disrupt issues and spoil the course of negotiations between the United States and Iran.
