A large number of citizens gathered in the heart of the Colombian capital, in a civil and union initiative, in a solidarity march with Gaza, coinciding with the second anniversary of the war in the enclave.
The demonstrators burned the Israeli occupation flag on their way to Bolivar Square, as a symbolic and angry gesture against the ongoing bombing and blockade imposed on the enclave.
The participants in the demonstration raised Palestinian flags and banners with phrases such as 'Save Gaza' and 'Stop the Bombing Now,' and chants condemning the destruction affecting civilians echoed.
During the demonstration, participants called for unifying solidarity with the Palestinians and exerting pressure on governments to take stronger stances against Israeli aggression.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro sparked significant reactions with his statements before the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he described what is happening in Gaza as 'genocide that the world cannot remain silent about.'
In his speech, Petro called for the formation of an international force to enforce international justice decisions and liberate Palestine, considering that the phase of words and condemnations has failed to bring about change.
He also added that the next step should not be a hesitant agreement, but rather requires direct action: 'Countries with military capabilities must act.'
The capital Bogotá hosted in July 2025 the proceedings of the international conference of the Hague Group countries and their friendly nations, to discuss developments in Gaza and ways to pressure to stop the aggression.
The conference witnessed a consensus condemning the repeated Israeli violations against civilians and calling for practical action to put an end to the flow of weapons used in the war on the enclave.
Colombia, which chaired the opening session, confirmed that the goal of the conference is to transform moral positions into practical actions.
Silence about the genocide in Gaza is unacceptable complicity.
