Israeli expert: The last glove in the relationship with Turkey has been removed.. We are facing a serious escalation.

The Ma'ariv newspaper reported that relations between the occupation and Turkey have reached an unprecedented level of tension after Ankara reminded of the cessation of economic and trade dealings with Tel Aviv and the closure of its airspace to aircraft.

Hai Eitan Cohen Yanroojik, a researcher at the Dayan Center at Tel Aviv University and an expert on Turkish affairs, considered that this step represents a dangerous strategic shift as it removed the last signs of mutual dependence between the two parties, which could lead to a wide-ranging strategic escalation.

The newspaper mentioned that cutting economic and trade relations in this manner usually only occurs during times of war, yet Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's remarks reflected an approach aimed at ending all forms of interconnection between the two parties, paving the way for a more dangerous confrontation.

Yanroojik confirmed that the recent development was not surprising to him, explaining that he had been expecting gradual steps of this kind for a long time.

He added that the first indicators appeared when the occupation announced the expansion of its aggression on Gaza, prompting Ankara to respond immediately by imposing maritime sanctions.

He continued: "The incident of the Israeli army revealing espionage devices sold by Turkey to Syrian entities was the card Ankara needed to justify its decision to sever relations completely and close its airspace."

On the economic front, the expert believes that the repercussions will be immediate, as the occupation will have to significantly extend its flight routes to Russia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan, while the Turks will also be unable to use the airspace of occupied Palestine.

However, he emphasized that the more dangerous aspect goes beyond the economy to reach the strategic dimension, as the absence of common interests removes the "braking mechanism" that prevented the deterioration of relations into direct confrontation.

Yanroojik explained that the danger of the Turkish decision lies in its unprecedented nature, as countries usually maintain a minimum level of relations even amid tension, which ensures the existence of communication channels and common interests that limit the slide into a comprehensive clash.

In the current situation, the absence of all forms of commercial, tourism, maritime, and air cooperation makes it difficult to find natural barriers to escalation.

As for the chances of restoring relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv in the near term, the expert considers them almost nonexistent.

He stated that these steps cannot be easily reversed as they stemmed from a massive political investment on Erdoğan's part, and any attempt to backtrack could incur a heavy political cost.

He added that Turkey has already exhausted its political capital in the Gaza issue, making it extremely difficult to restore matters to their previous state.
