The Israeli occupation forces continued their aggression on the city of Tulkarm and its camp for the 174th consecutive day, and on the Nour Shams camp for the 161st day, amid an unprecedented escalation in demolitions and bulldozing operations that have affected dozens of homes and facilities.
According to local sources, Israeli bulldozers continued their demolition work in Tulkarm camp, which began last week, at a rapid pace, targeting more residential buildings. An explosion was heard that shook the camp and its surroundings.
This escalation comes as part of the occupation's new plan to demolish 104 buildings, comprising approximately 400 homes. This is the latest in a series of demolitions that have affected several neighborhoods in the camp over the past few weeks, specifically: Al-Murabba'a, Abu Al-Foul, Al-Shuhada', and Al-Hamam, resulting in thousands of families losing their homes.
The Nour Shams camp also witnessed a military escalation, amidst the aggression and tight siege imposed by the occupation forces, accompanied by the burning of homes by occupation soldiers, especially in Jabal al-Nasr.
Eyewitnesses reported that occupation forces seized a building under construction in Nour Shams camp today, climbed onto its roof, and threw bricks at neighboring homes.
In recent weeks, Nur Shams camp has been subjected to extensive demolition operations, including dozens of residential buildings, as part of an Israeli plan to demolish 106 buildings in Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps. 48 of these buildings were demolished in Nur Shams alone, causing widespread destruction and opening wide streets that separated the neighborhoods.
The ongoing escalation has led to the forced displacement of more than 5,000 families from the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps, representing over 25,000 residents. The total destruction of more than 600 buildings and the partial damage of 2,573 homes have also occurred. The entrances to the camps remain closed with barriers, transforming them into lifeless areas. Residents are prevented from reaching their homes or checking on their property, amid direct gunfire targeting anyone who approaches the area.
In a related context, the occupation forces sent more military reinforcements to the city, which is witnessing intensive movements of occupation vehicles and infantry units around the clock, specifically in the neighborhoods, the market center, the street of the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital, Gamal Abdel Nasser Square, and Nablus Street. They obstructed the movement of citizens and vehicles, while sounding their horns in a provocative manner, and driving against the traffic, endangering the lives of citizens.
Today, the occupation forces stormed the outskirts of Shuweika, north of the city, Artah, south of it, and Iktaba, east of it, and patrolled the streets and neighborhoods, obstructing the movement of citizens and vehicles.
Israeli occupation forces continue to seize a number of homes on Nablus Street, turning them into military barracks. They also seize parts of the city's northern neighborhood, specifically those facing Tulkarm refugee camp, after forcibly evacuating their residents. Some of these homes have been under Israeli occupation control for more than four months.
This street, which serves as a link between the Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps, also suffered significant damage due to earth mounds placed by the occupation forces several months ago, impeding vehicle movement and exacerbating the suffering of residents.
The ongoing aggression on the city of Tulkarm and its two camps has so far resulted in the deaths of 14 civilians, including a child and two women, one of whom was eight months pregnant. Dozens of injuries and arrests have also been reported, as well as widespread destruction of infrastructure, homes, shops, and vehicles.
