Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that "besides freeing the hostages and defeating Hamas, there are opportunities that we must not miss, even for a single day."
"We fought Iran with determination and achieved a great victory. This victory paves the way for a significant expansion of the peace agreements," he said in a video distributed by his office.
In a related development, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said in a press briefing that US President Donald Trump is "prepared for a visit by Netanyahu."
The American news website Axios reported on Thursday, citing three Israeli officials, that Netanyahu wants to meet Trump at the White House in the coming weeks to celebrate the joint bombing of Iran's nuclear program.
Two officials said that preliminary discussions have already taken place between Netanyahu's advisors and White House officials regarding a possible visit, but no date has yet been set.
"There is a shared interest on both sides in holding a victory celebration after the war with Iran," one official said, while another said the visit could take place in the second week of July.
Meanwhile, sources told Axios that Trump, following the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, is currently focusing on ending the war in the Gaza Strip and promoting peace agreements between Israel and its neighbors.
"Trump wants to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza as soon as possible," an informed source said.
