The Palestinian Central Council overwhelmingly approved on Thursday the creation of the position of Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which is also held by the President of the State of Palestine.
The resolution stipulates that the Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee shall be appointed from among the Committee members, based on the nomination of the Committee Chairman and the approval of the members.
The decision also grants the committee chairman the authority to assign specific tasks to the deputy, in addition to the possibility of dismissing him from his position or accepting his resignation.
The resolution received broad support, with 170 members present in the hall and participating via Zoom voting in favor, one voting against, and one member abstaining.
