German representative to the Authority visits Al-Quds newspaper

The German representative to the Palestinian Authority, Oliver Owcza, visited the newspaper “A” yesterday morning, Wednesday, and met with the editor-in-chief, Ibrahim Melhem, who informed him about the progress of work in the newspaper, its establishment, and its work departments.

Mr. Ovcha expressed his appreciation for the role played by the newspaper, its digital platforms, its influence and the diversity of opinions it publishes, noting that he is keen to have it in his office every day.

The discussion touched on the statements made by German Foreign Minister Annella Baerbock a few days ago, which sparked widespread criticism.

Ovcha said that the minister's statements were taken out of context. She said: "Civilian facilities are protected and do not lose this status unless they are exploited by militants," recalling Germany's positions supporting the two-state solution, calling for providing relief aid to those affected in the Gaza Strip, and its continued support for stopping the war on both sides and releasing detainees, including German citizens, through an exchange deal, to put an end to the ongoing suffering in the Strip.
