EU: Worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza leads to spread of epidemics

The European Union expressed its "deep concern" over the continued destruction of infrastructure in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip by Israel, the occupying power.

This came in a statement by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on Monday, regarding the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Borrell said the European Union was "deeply concerned" by Israel's continued destruction of vital civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, including the Rafah water treatment plant.

Borrell pointed out that the humanitarian disaster in Gaza is worsening, noting that this situation leads to the spread of epidemics and infections among civilians, especially children.
