China supports Palestine's full membership in the United Nations

China said it supports Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.

This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, in a press conference today, in response to a question about China’s position on Palestine’s membership in the United Nations.

Mao added, "The ongoing conflict and the severe humanitarian crisis resulting from it are further evidence that the only way to end this vicious cycle of conflict is to fully implement the two-state solution and establish an independent State of Palestine, and address the historical injustice that the Palestinians have suffered for a long time."

Palestine had officially requested the United Nations Security Council to reconsider its application for full United Nations membership submitted in 2011.

The Security Council met earlier this week and referred Palestine’s request to the Committee for Admission of New Members for its deliberations.
