European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Monday that Israel is causing famine in the Gaza Strip and is using starvation as a weapon of war.
Borrell said at the opening of a conference on humanitarian aid to Gaza in Brussels: “In Gaza, we are no longer on the brink of famine. We are in a state of famine in which thousands of people are suffering.”
He added, "This is unacceptable. Famine is being used as a weapon of war. Israel is causing famine."
The Israeli forces have continued their aggression on land, sea and air against the Gaza Strip since October 7, which resulted in the death of 31,726 citizens, most of them children and women, and the injury of 73,792 others, while thousands of victims remain under the rubble.
