The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the occupying state to abandon the colonial "E1" project, which aims to expand settlements in East Jerusalem. This statement comes as part of international efforts to halt colonial expansion that negatively affects the rights of Palestinians.
The French Foreign Ministry condemned in its statement the Israeli colonial plan in the "E1" area, noting that this project would separate occupied Jerusalem from the West Bank, further complicating the existing situation.
The ministry warned that the implementation of the E1 project would divide the West Bank into two parts, seriously undermining the chances of achieving a two-state solution, which is considered the only solution to ensure peace and security for both peoples.
The statement emphasized the importance of adhering to international law and the necessity of respecting the rights of Palestinians in their lands, warning that the continuation of these colonial policies would exacerbate the situation in the region.
This call comes at a sensitive time, as concerns grow over the repercussions of Israeli colonial policies on the future of Palestinians, with France stressing the need to return to the negotiating table to achieve lasting peace.
The E1 project constitutes a serious violation of international law and undermines the two-state solution.
