Hidden Goals of Washington Through Gaza Aid: Political and Humanitarian Exploitation
Washington uses humanitarian aid to achieve political goals that go beyond relief and serve its interests in the region
Widespread accusations have emerged regarding the United States' exploitation of humanitarian aid provided to the Gaza Strip, as the underlying goals behind these initiatives are multiple, despite the official announcement of a desire to alleviate the suffering of the population. On the ground, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an American company backed by Israel, emerged, established last February and began its work in May, claiming to aim at reducing hunger; however, its distribution centers have turned into death traps, according to testimonies from Israeli soldiers and Hebrew media.
A report by Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that the distribution centers managed by the foundation have become a site for killing Palestinians, increasing anger towards its operational mechanism. In an attempt to contain the criticisms, the U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, visited a distribution center in Rafah and briefed President Donald Trump on his assessment of the situation. However, doubts surround the neutrality of the foundation, especially with the ambiguity of its funding sources and the background of its executive director, John Moore, a former advisor to Trump, during whose tenure the number of casualties rose and the dignity of aid seekers was violated.
In the context of international movements, 170 relief organizations called for the closure of the foundation, and 92 Democratic members of the House of Representatives urged the State Department to investigate its ownership and operational mechanisms, pointing out that it receives funding from Israel. France, through its foreign minister, described the foundation's system as disgraceful, while Palestinian resistance factions considered the distribution of aid through it an insult to humanity and an implementation of Israeli plans aimed at eliminating the role of international organizations, especially UNRWA, which has the expertise and resources necessary for effective aid distribution.
Conversely, Palestinian factions believe that these institutions are subjected to a conspiracy aimed at eliminating the true humanitarian role, especially after Israel closed all crossings with the Gaza Strip, prompting the search for alternatives in coordination with the United States. Washington attempted through the failed floating Gaza port project and also through dropping aerial aid, but those attempts were ridiculed, as some aid fell in combat areas and resulted in the deaths of Palestinians.
In the end, it becomes clear that the true aim of U.S. intervention is to eliminate the humanitarian role of the United Nations, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and to give Israel free rein to use starvation as a means of pressure on Palestinians, either through extermination or displacement, reflecting a premeditated intention to exploit aid for political and security purposes at the expense of the suffering of civilian populations.
