Netanyahu Calls on the Red Cross to Provide Food and Medical Care for Detainees in Gaza
Netanyahu appeals to the Red Cross to secure the needs of detainees in Gaza amid rising international pressure
In a new step within the humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested the International Committee of the Red Cross to provide food and medical treatment for detainees in the region, amid increasing international demands to stop the suffering of civilians and to implement a ceasefire.
A statement issued by Netanyahu's office indicated that he contacted Julian Larison, head of the committee's mission in Israel and the Palestinian territories, and directly requested him to provide food supplies and urgent healthcare for the detainees, in an attempt to alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
This request comes amid growing pressure on Netanyahu's government from the international community, which is calling for an end to the aggression against Gaza and for humanitarian aid to be allowed, as the living conditions for civilians in the region continue to deteriorate.
The region is witnessing an increase in international calls to end the humanitarian crisis, with ongoing military escalation leading to a significant deterioration in humanitarian conditions, and a rise in the number of detainees and civilian casualties.
