Abdel Aati: Egypt Faces a Despicable Campaign to Alleviate Pressure on Israel
Egypt provides 70% of the aid to Gaza and faces false accusations of negligence
The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Aati, stated that Egypt is subjected to what he described as a "systematic despicable campaign" aimed at reducing pressure on Israel by promoting false claims accusing Egypt of negligence in delivering aid to the Gaza Strip. He clarified during the "Egyptians Abroad" conference that Egypt has provided 70% of the humanitarian aid to the sector, and those who attack it are unjustly directing accusations at it.
Abdel Aati pointed to gatherings around several Egyptian embassies demanding the opening of the Rafah crossing for the passage of aid, which Cairo rejects, affirming that Israel obstructs the passage of aid. He confirmed that Egypt has been and remains the true supporter of the Palestinian people since the Nakba, and that its efforts continue to achieve the Palestinians' goals and ensure their right to establish their independent state.
In his comments on those who attack the Egyptian role, Abdel Aati described them as "deluded" and lacking understanding of the geo-strategic considerations of the region, emphasizing that Egypt rejects any attempts to exploit its role in the Palestinian issue and opposes calls for the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
He also affirmed that Egypt takes clear positions in support of the Palestinians and works to protect their rights, noting that any claims accusing Egypt of negligence in providing aid or marginalizing its role in the Palestinian issue are incorrect, and that it will continue to support the Palestinian people until their aspirations are realized.
