600 Former Israeli Officials Urge Trump to Pressure for an End to the War in Gaza
The former officials are calling on Trump to intervene and stop the escalation in Gaza for the security of Israel
The Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post" reported that more than 600 former security officials from Israel sent a message to former U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to intervene and pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip.
These former officials include Tamir Pardo, the former head of the Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad), and Ami Ayalon, the former head of the internal security agency (Shabak), as well as former Deputy Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Matan Vilnai. They emphasized in their message that the situation requires urgent action from the U.S. administration to ensure regional stability and protect Israel's security.
The newspaper noted that the initiative is part of efforts led by these officials, along with prominent figures from the police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the group "Leaders for Israel's Security," which now includes more than 600 former security officials. Their aim is to urge Trump to effectively intervene to end the military escalation in Gaza, which significantly threatens the security of the region.
In a related context, they confirmed that the continuation of military operations could exacerbate the situation, increase the suffering of civilian populations, and further threaten regional stability. They called for the necessity of working towards a ceasefire and opening a political dialogue that leads to a permanent solution to the crisis.
