Resigning War Council member Benny Gantz on Friday informed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that his party would “support” any deal with Hamas that would include an exchange of Israeli prisoners held in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Army Radio quoted Gantz's office as saying that he spoke by phone with Netanyahu to discuss the "broad lines" for the return of Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip, according to the proposal of the new agreement with Hamas.
Gantz's office stated that the latter assured Netanyahu that his party "will provide full support for any deal that would lead to the return of the kidnappers."
Gantz pointed out that the National Unity Party can support the government through the party’s seats in the Knesset (Parliament) if the agreement is submitted for approval.
