Two young Palestinian men were found dead off the coast of the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, in the early hours of Friday morning. 

Local sources identified the two men at 23-year-old Hadi Ahmed Qassab and 16-year-old Bassam Ahmed Al-Darbi.

Large groups of Palestinians flocked to the greater Qalqilya area of the West Bank to mourn 14-year-old Fares Abu Samra, who was shot in the head by Israeli troops.

The crowd gathered for noon prayer in the Ali bin Abi Talib mosque in the city center.

Abu Samra was wounded by live ammunition during violent clashes in response to an arrest raid by Israeli occupation forces of the Al-Naqqar neighborhood, west of the city of Qalqilya at dawn on Thursday. 

The martyr was transferred to Darwish Nazzal Governmental Hospital, and later declared dead.

Israeli occupation forces arrested three Palestinians from Jericho and the Jordan Valley on Thursday..

According to local sources, these forces arrested the ex-prisoner, Sami Mahmoud Abdel-Fattah Atta, from the Aqabat Jabr camp, and the two young men, Hani Bassem Arinat, and Ali Yasser Ta'amra, from the town of Al-Auja.

Later in the day, Israeli troops searched a number of Palestinian homes in the Arab al-Malehat community, northwest of Jericho.

According to local sources, the soldiers were accompanied by settlers.

The Jenin-based "Ayyash Brigade" fired a missile toward northern Israel on Thursday.

Posting a video clip of the launch online, the brigade said that this is a "response to the crimes of this malevolent enemy against our people."

The IDF later confirmed that fragments on the rocket were found, and that the projectile had exploded in the air, on the way to the community of Ram On in the north. 

The launch also comes as the far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir was filmed performing ritual at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in violation of the status-quo and drawing ire from Arab countries. 

"Al-Aqsa Mosque is a red line that we will not allow to be crossed," the brigades added.

Thirty leading human rights experts at the United Nations called on the international community to use a "range of available legal means" to step in against Israel's ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories, and said that the creeping annexation of the West Bank makes apartheid "an unavoidable consequence."

“Israel’s continuous annexation of portions of the occupied Palestinian territory, now focusing on large swathes of the West Bank after unlawfully annexing east Jerusalem, suggests that a concrete effort may be under way to annex the entire occupied Palestinian territory in violation of international law,” the experts said.

The experts pointed to a similar letter of 46 experts to oppose Israel's proposed annexation of the West Bank in 2020. "Our call went unheard then and we cannot stay silent now," they wrote. 

They specifically pointed to the powers granted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to far-right minister Bezalel Smotrich over the civil administration as evidence of annexation, "which is categorically prohibited under international law." 

"Over the last five decades, Israel has confiscated or endorsed confiscation of Palestinian lands and resources, resulting in over 270 colonies housing 750,000 Israeli settlers,” they added.

"While the Israeli settlers in occupied Palestinian territory enjoy civil and political rights, Palestinians are subject to military rule. “The consolidation of an apartheid regime is an unavoidable consequence of such a system,” they concluded.

The experts also pointed to double standards between the United Nations' approach to Palestinians and Ukrainians.

“The large majority of Member States of the UN unequivocally condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its annexation of Ukraine’s eastern parts as an act of aggression”, the experts said, “and they imposed sanctions on Russia to encourage a cessation of this violation of international law”. “By contrast, Israel’s annexation of the occupied Palestinian territory is obfuscated by political rhetoric, debates and negotiations, which ultimately rest on double standards,” they said.

And they continued: "This proposal for the selective enforcement of international law undermines the foundations of the United Nations Charter and the promise of the universality of international human rights, 75 years after the Universal Declaration of Human Rights."

The experts expressed their deep concern about the escalating scope and brutality of violence against Palestinian men, women and children, noting the violation of the right to life, with the intensification of annexation, calling on Israel to immediately end these violations.

They expressed their fear that the cycle of violence would continue unless the primacy of international law is restored as a basis for peace and security, urging the Member States of the United Nations to take advantage of the range of legal means available to seek an end to these illegal actions.

The experts called for justice, and respect for international law without double standards, to end this cycle of violence and secure a just and lasting peace.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas presented Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas political bureau, with a new political vision ahead in Ankara on Wednesday night, Al Jazeera reported.

Abbas' proposal comes ahead of the convention of all Palestinian factions slated for the end of the month in Cairo. 

Quoting undisclosed sources, Al Jazeera said that Abbas' plan would be based on the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which the convention is trying to re-energize, and will seek international legitimacy. It will therefore be based on peaceful resistance, and the monopoly on arms of the Palestinian Authority.

Haniyeh reportedly told Abbas that Hamas is targeting the Israeli occupation and has no interest in overthrowing the Palestinian Authority. He stressed that Hamas is committed to resistance in all its forms and does not accept the commitment to international legitimacy.

Abbas also rejected the request from Haniyeh to release Hamas' political detainees in the West Bank, and said that the matter will be linked to the dialogue in Cairo, Al Jazeera stated.

Meanwhile, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command and the Ba'athist Vanguard for the Popular Liberation War - Lightning Forces threatened on Wednesday to boycott the meeting in Cairo unless political prisoners were released ahead of the meeting.

The Iranian judiciary has annulled a death sentence issued against a young man in connection with the protests that took place in the Islamic Republic after the death of Mahsa Amini, according to a local news agency reported on Wednesday.

In October, the judiciary ruled the death penalty for Muhammad Qabadlu, 23, on charges of “corruption on earth” in connection with the killing of a police officer who was run over by a car and the wounding of others on the sidelines of protests that erupted in September after the death of Amini after she was arrested by the morality police for non-compliance. Washington — The U.S. State Department said that Washington will not slash military aid to Israel over the government's judicial overhaul, despite President Joe Biden's opposition to the unilateral steps to push the legislation through parliament. 

The Deputy Spokesperson of the U.S. State Department, Vedant Patel, responded to Al-Quds' question at a press briefing. "There’s not going to be any cut or stoppage of military aid, and that is because our commitment to Israel and our commitment to Israel’s security is ironclad," he said. 

"And the President – and you saw the White House be very clear about this over the past couple of days – has expressed his views in this scenario, that major changes in a democracy need to be enduring, they need to have as broad consensus as possible.  We also understand that talks are ongoing and likely to continue over the coming weeks and months to forge a broader compromise," Patel said.

"We also will continue to engage with our Israeli counterparts and Israeli officials to strengthen the bond between the United States and Israel and to advance our shared democratic values, cooperating on a full range of issues while working through our differences and concerns, like our – most relationships where we have bilateral relations with a country," he added.

Patel's remarks came a day after the Knesset voted to abolish the "reasonableness standard," limiting the Supreme Court's oversight on government decisions and appointments. The law was passed against the backdrop of mass demonstrations across the country, increasing insubordination from military reservists, and a boycott of the parliamentary session from the opposition parties. 

They also came a week after U.S. ambassadors to Israel, Dan Kurtzer and Martin Indyk, called on Washington to adopt a new approach to the relationship. "Aid provides the U.S. with no leverage or influence over Israel decisions to use force; because we sit quietly while Israel pursues policies we oppose, we are seen as 'enablers' of Israel's occupation," they told the New York Times. 

The United States provides Israel with $3.8 billion in military aid annually.

President Joe Biden has indicated that the judicial reform could impact the "special relationship" between the U.S. and Israel, however, the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin reportedly reassured his Israeli counterpart Yoav Gallant by phone on Tuesday that the opposition to the government's conduct would not impact the aid.

Today, Wednesday, Doctors Without Borders (Doctors Without Borders) confirmed that the humanitarian conditions experienced by the Palestinian residents of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, as a result of the Israeli measures of forced displacement, have become intolerable, amounting to war crimes, and are in violation of international humanitarian law.

She added, "Palestinians living in Masafer Yatta and its surroundings, in the south of the West Bank of the occupied Palestinian territories, face great challenges, such as living in constant fear of displacement, the demolition of their homes, the deprivation of water, the restriction of their movements, in addition to exposure to settler violence."

For his part, the head of the Doctors Without Borders mission in the occupied Palestinian territories, David Cante Ruberez, called on the international community to assume its legal responsibility for what the residents of Masafer Yatta are exposed to.

He added, "About 1,100 residents of Masafer Yatta live in danger of forced displacement, which constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law that Israel must respect, and constitutes a grave breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and thus becomes a war crime."

"The residents of Masafer Yatta are subjected to all forms of violence. Soldiers enter villages at night, impose curfews and other restrictions, conduct military training near the residents' living areas, seize vehicles and demolish homes, which has made people's lives unbearable," said Roberez.

"As a humanitarian medical organization, we condemn Israeli policies and call on the Israeli authorities to immediately halt the displacement plan and stop implementing measures that restrict access to basic services, including medical care, for Palestinians in Masafer Yatta," he said.

He urged, "the international community to take urgent and necessary measures to protect the population and ensure respect for their human rights."

In her turn, Maryam Qabas, the supervisor of psychological counseling at Doctors Without Borders, confirmed, "This conference came to shed light on what is happening to the residents of Masafer Yatta, and to convey part of the doctors' experiences and their experience of the reality of the residents' suffering, which is absent from the media."

She stressed that the residents there are subjected to psychological pressures and great daily suffering as a result of the Israeli measures and the occupation’s attempt to forcibly displace them.

The press conference dealt with the health effects resulting from the Israeli measures for the residents of Masafer Yatta, which were witnessed by the organization's team.

During the conference, a documentary film entitled: "Musafir Yatta, the Forcibly Deported" was shown, which included testimonies from villagers who suffer from house demolitions and daily pressures.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Ankara on Wednesday, the Anatolia news agency reported.

The agency stated that "President Erdogan meets his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, and the head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh," at the presidential palace in the Turkish capital.

This comes after an earlier meeting between Abbas and Ismail Haniyeh to discuss the ways to ease tensions ahead of a landmark meeting between all Palestinian factions in the Egyptian capital later this month.

The Palestinian Authority has accused Hamas of undermining its rule in the occupied West Bank, while Hamas and Islamic Jihad have charged that the PA security forces have quashed resistance, in particular in a wave of recent arrests.

Abbas met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as part of an official three-day visit on Tuesday, while Hamas' leadership scuttles between Turkey, Qatar and Lebanon. In their meeting, Erdogan pledged to continue his support of the Palestinian people. 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scheduled to visit Turkey this week as well, but the visit was postponed after he underwent surgery to fit a pacemaker last weekend, and amidst widespread protest over his controversial judicial reforms.

After nearly a decade of tension, relations between Turkey and Israel have thawed in the last year. 

A 30-year-old Palestinian citizen of Israel was killed by a car explosion in a street in Lod on Wednesday afternoon, in what appears to be another crime-related assassination, while another Palestinian was shot dead in the city of Tamra in the early hours of the morning. 

Medical staff provided first aid to the victim from Lod at the scene, and quickly transferred him to Assaf Harofeh Hospital, southeast of Tel Aviv, but the doctors declared his death soon afterwards.

The police opened a file to investigate the circumstances of the crime, but no arrests or other information related to the explosion were reported.

In the city of Tamra, 33-year-old Ashraf Saber Akkawi was shot dead and others were wounded in a crime-related shooting. 

The killings take the death toll in the Arab community to 124 for the year, in comparison to 109 people last year, and 111 in 2021.

The Arab community in Israel has complained that police have failed to combat criminal organizations, and that the security services have colluded with some of them.

Today, Wednesday, the Israeli Special Repression Units (Yamaz, Dror, and Masada) stormed Section 24 of the Negev prison.

According to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Prisoners, the repression units transferred the prisoners to an unknown location.

China kept ambiguity prevailing on Wednesday about the reasons for dismissing its foreign minister, Chen Gang, from his post after his absence from public appearances, and began removing any mention of him from the ministry's website.

Chen Gang, 57, was relieved of his post on Tuesday, just 207 days after he was named foreign minister, and his predecessor Wang Yi was reinstated, according to state media.

The move came after the absence of Chen Gang, who is considered close to President Xi Jinping and one of his confidants, for a month from the public sphere, which raised speculation that he had lost his status or that he was under official investigation.

And the new Chinese news agency "Xinhua" reported on Tuesday that "China's highest legislative body voted in favor of appointing Wang Yi as foreign minister" on Monday, and that "Qin Gang was relieved" of the post.

The agency did not specify the reasons for the decision, noting that President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order to put it into effect.

Chen made his last public appearance on June 25 to welcome Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko in Beijing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously confirmed that "health reasons" stood behind Chen's absence, before refraining at later stages from responding directly to questions about him.

As of Wednesday, state media did not provide any explanation for his dismissal.

However, an expert on Chinese affairs saw that his removal from official websites indicated that Chen Gang had rapidly lost his place in the ruling structure.

"I'm not sure that would have happened if he had been a well-respected comrade (in the Communist Party) who had contracted the disease," said US researcher Bill Bishop.

For his part, Neil Thomas of the American research institute, the Asia Society Policy Institute, spoke of indications that "it is likely that this is indeed a political purge."

Recently, several rumors circulated on the Internet about the reasons for Chen Gang's absence, some of which said that he was under official investigation due to an alleged relationship with a prominent TV presenter.

"People abroad are completely ignorant (of the reasons)," Hu-Fung Hong, a specialist in Chinese politics at Johns Hopkins University, told AFP.

Chen, who hails from the city of Tianjin (northeast), dealt with the Chinese president frequently by virtue of his previous position as head of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The confidence that Xi bestowed on him directly contributed to his promotion at the expense of more experienced candidates, first to China's ambassador to Washington and then to foreign minister.

Before his appointment as minister, he was China's ambassador to Washington, in a position during which he strengthened his public presence by participating in public events and frequent media appearances to explain his country's position on several issues.

He also previously held the position of spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was known for his harsh responses to embarrassing questions from journalists.
He spent years at the Chinese Embassy in London, and speaks fluent English.

In December 2022, he succeeded Chen Wang as foreign minister, a position the latter had held since 2013.

During his absence, many of Chen's responsibilities were handed over to Wang, a senior diplomat who was formally serving as director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the ruling Communist Party Central Committee and leading its foreign policy, above Chen in the government hierarchy.

However, Chen's absence left a void at the top of the Foreign Ministry and began to be reflected in the agenda of foreign visitors to Beijing.
Unexpectedly, a visit by European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell was postponed this month.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Wednesday that he expects to "work well" with Wang Yi, whom he has met twice in the past few weeks.

He added, "It is important for us to manage this relationship responsibly. This begins with diplomacy, and it begins with interaction, and I am ready to cooperate with my concerned Chinese counterpart, whoever it may be," noting that relieving Chen is a sovereign decision related to China.

Israeli occupation forces filled several water springs and destroyed agricultural lands, in the Al-Hijrah area, south of Hebron on Wednesday.

According to local sources, the occupation forces raided the al-Hijrah area with a bulldozer, cement mixers and an indsutrial pump, and proceeded to bulldoze five dunums of sewed agricultural land owned by the Dudin family.

The forces also filled several springs belonging to the same family with cement.

A Palestinian was killed by Israeli army gunfire on Wednesday in clashes that erupted during an arrest raid in Al-Ain refugee camp, west of Nablus.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Mohammad Abudul Hakim Nada.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that Nada was wounded in the chest by live ammunition during the clashes that took place at the refugee camp. Medical staff said that he was in a serious condition, and later confirmed his death. 

The confrontations broke out after Israeli occupation forces raided the camp to carry out an arrest.

Israeli soldiers arrested a Palestinian man, Nour Basiouni, after surrounding his home, according to his brother.

Another source said that the occupation army fired stun grenades at Palestinians at the scene, and damaged vehicles.

Thousands of Palestinians gathered in the city of Nablus and the refugee camp to mourn Nada. The funeral took place in front of Rafidia Hospital, with members of the family and official representatives in attendance. 

In a sombre atmosphere, he was buried in the cemetery in the refugee camp alongside other martyrs.

Yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution condemning all acts of violence against the holy books, as a violation of international law.

This comes in the wake of the burning and desecration of many Qurans in European countries, including the burning of copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark, in incidents that sparked international outrage.

The 193-member General Assembly adopted the resolution, which Morocco drafted by consensus.

The text of the resolution states that the members of the General Assembly “deplore in the strongest terms all acts of violence against persons on the basis of their religion or belief, as well as any such acts directed against their religious symbols, sacred books, homes, businesses, property, schools, cultural centers or places of worship.”

In the context, the resolution called for the condemnation of attacks targeting the Qur'an, describing them as "acts of religious hatred."

On July 12, the United Nations Human Rights Council (based in Geneva) condemned the violations of the Holy Qur’an at the end of last June in Sweden, despite Western countries voting against the council’s proposed resolution in this regard.

And with these questions that we raise, this question imposes itself: Isn't it the right of these generations to enjoy a decent life, to be part of the democratic act, and to witness real competitions in which they have a role in shaping the future of their country and determining its destiny?! Is this generation required to surrender to the vision of the factions in order to live, even if it requires it to be a political hypocrite and devoid of human dignity?!

It is really unfortunate that, years before the division, we were holding municipal and legislative elections, but the calculations of this or that party complicated the scene and thwarted the attempt, and we returned to the square of arguments and accusations, and the street was stunned. Because the truth was clear, and the sieve of Fatah and Hamas did not succeed in obscuring it from the masses.

Today, the question posed to Hamas is that we live within the circle of its administrative and security mandate, and we have disengaged from the occupation.
