A report issued by an international organization concerned with the protection of journalists revealed the killing of 67 journalists in various parts of the world during 2025. The report indicated that the Israeli army is considered the most dangerous entity for the lives of journalists, as it was involved in killing many of them while covering events in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The report explained that journalists face increasing challenges in conflict zones, where they are subjected to direct targeting by the parties to the conflict, in addition to other risks such as indiscriminate bombing and arbitrary arrests.
The report strongly condemned the targeting of journalists, and called for the necessity of holding those responsible for these crimes accountable, and ensuring the protection of journalists and enabling them to do their work freely and safely.
The report also urged the international community to make more efforts to protect journalists in conflict zones, and to provide them with the necessary support to enable them to continue their work in conveying the truth and exposing violations.
The report stressed the importance of the role of the press in revealing facts and monitoring power, stressing that targeting journalists represents a threat to democracy and freedom of expression.
