Moscow accuses Kiev of using cluster bombs in a Russian village

The governor of the Russian Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, announced that Ukraine fired cluster munitions at a Russian village near the Ukrainian border on Tuesday, causing damage to several homes.

Bogomaz added via the Telegram application that preliminary information indicates that there were no casualties as a result of the bombing that targeted the village of Klimovo.

Ukraine received cluster munitions from the United States, but pledged to use them only to expel concentrations of enemy soldiers.

Russian officials in Bryansk and other regions bordering Ukraine have often said that the Ukrainian armed forces are bombing these areas indiscriminately.

Reuters was unable to independently verify what was reported by the governor of the Russian Bryansk region, who did not provide any visual evidence. There has been no comment from Ukraine yet.

More than 100 countries ban the use of cluster munitions. Cluster munitions usually release a large number of small bombs to randomly kill people over a large area. Small bombs that do not explode pose a danger that lasts for years.
