Rising Hollywood star Jonathan Majors has been arrested in New York on charges of assaulting a woman, police said Sunday.
The police responded to an emergency call in Manhattan late on Saturday night, and from preliminary investigations, it was found that a family quarrel occurred between a thirty-three-year-old man and a thirty-year-old woman.
Police said in a statement sent to AFP that the victim told them she had been assaulted.
This woman, whose connection with the actor was not known, was taken to hospital with minor injuries to the head and neck, and her condition is "stable."
A spokeswoman for the actor, Carrie Gordon, said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times that Jonathan Megers "did nothing wrong."
"We look forward to his acquittal and the disclosure of the circumstances of the case," she added.
The judicial authorities did not respond to AFP's request for confirmation as to whether the actor was still detained.
Majors has appeared in several notable films recently, including "Creed 3", "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania" and "Magazine Dreams", which was screened at the Sundance Film Festival.
