UN experts: Countries must stop Israel before silencing all journalists in Gaza.

Experts at the United Nations, including the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, and the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, Irene Khan, expressed their deep concern over the continued targeting of Palestinian journalists, which has resulted in the martyrdom of several of them in recent days, including two female journalists, during Israeli airstrikes.

The experts stated in a statement today, Thursday, that "at least 248 journalists in Gaza have been killed so far, a number that exceeds any other conflict in modern times, including Maryam Abu Daqa, the independent visual journalist for the Associated Press, Al Jazeera journalist Mohammed Salama, independent journalist Muath Abu Taha, Reuters photojournalist Hossam Al-Masri, and Ahmed Abu Aziz, who worked for several media outlets, including Middle East Eye and Islam Abed, who was killed in an airstrike on an apartment in Gaza City."

They added, "Israel continues to prevent any international media from accessing the area and kills local Palestinian journalists with impunity, who are the only professional lens in the world covering the suffering of genocide and famine unfolding in Gaza."
