Israeli soldiers: Hamas fighters are attacking us from tunnels in Gaza that they have repaired.

Channel 12 reported that Israeli military officials stated, "Hamas elements are repairing combat tunnels in areas where the 'army' operates, and they will use them again to launch operations."

They added: "Hamas fighters have restored between 15% and 20% of the combat tunnels in the Gaza Strip," and the military acknowledged that they had been subjected to about 10 attacks from tunnels that the occupation army had previously dealt with.

Field leaders in the Israeli army revealed that Hamas fighters are still emerging from tunnels in areas where Israeli soldiers are operating, as Hamas fighters quickly repair these combat tunnels, taking advantage of the surrounding destruction, allowing them to attack Israeli forces and reach the front lines without being detected.

For its part, the Mako Hebrew website published statements from Israeli officers saying that "Hamas elements are repairing combat tunnels, not fortified strategic tunnels, which makes it easier for them to rebuild without being detected," noting that repairing a combat tunnel takes one to two months, which includes creating detours or digging new openings, confirming that they have been subjected to several attacks in recent months.

Senior officials in the Israeli army told the Mako Hebrew website, "They had to place explosive devices and cameras at tunnel openings to avoid attacks, and according to several officers working in the Gaza Brigade, the 162nd Division and the 36th Division, several attacks were recorded in the past two months where Hamas fighters surprised Israeli forces after emerging from tunnels that the Israeli army was aware of and had previously dealt with, while they acknowledged that only a few of those attacks were announced, such as the infiltration of several Qassam fighters into the defenses of the Kfir Brigade, where they managed to withdraw alive."

The same applies to the incident that occurred in late July, where about ten Hamas fighters emerged from a tunnel that the "Israeli army" was addressing, and they all managed to return alive after the "Golani Brigade fighters" failed to close the gap and open fire.

According to assessments from some leaders quoted by the Mako website, in an operation that took place on August 15, Hamas fighters managed to penetrate the defenses of the Israeli army and attach an explosive device to a tank and a mortar shell, using a new column from a tunnel that the army was aware of and was supposed to have destroyed.

Officers also revealed that even in areas controlled by the Israel Defense Forces, the destroyed tunnels have been re-dug, stating: "In every area we left due to the end of a mission or a ceasefire, the first action Hamas took was to rebuild the destroyed tunnels, those that were important to them, which they believed they had the capability to rebuild."

The Mako Hebrew website report adds that maneuver division officers are unaware of the exact number of tunnels that Hamas has managed to rebuild in Gaza, primarily due to their lack of access to any research or intelligence information on this subject.

One Israeli officer, based on his experience in combat in Gaza, stated that Hamas succeeded in digging dozens of meters within weeks, adding: "They see rebuilding as an important step in their ability to advance to the front lines without being detected."

According to the report from the Hebrew website, "The capabilities of the Israeli army to fight inside tunnels are failing, despite the existence of units described as highly professional and elite, which apparently do not exist at all, contradicting the statements of army leaders and exposing the inability to effectively deal with the vast number of tunnels and underground infrastructure.
